Seeing all those Abyss Watchers mindlessly charge at Wolnir's torso further confirms my suspicion. The Undead Legion relies more on speed and strength in numbers than intelligence. 😅
How many haymakers does it take for mushroom man to render whatever is in his way into a mushy pulp? A one, A two-oo, a thr- oop yeah he pulped em alright
So it really seems to just boil down to the Abyss watchers flinching/staggering the boss quick enough to then be able to slam enough damage into them for free. Like, legitimately you could've summoned 40 on Oceiros and he'd have won since he OHKO's them with his first couple of attacks.
I think we all know that if Siegward were there since a player with Storm Ruler wasn't Havel would've laid him out. Havel needed GMB for Sages, Princes, and a full health bars' worth of Estus Flask chugging for phase 3 Cinder and he had it fosho😅
I get it's a bit of a fun video anyways but the boss RNG kinda makes those numbers meaningless. For example Osseiros could have definitely taken on more Abyss Watchers with better attack RNG and he could also have been beaten by less. His horizontal swing straight up oneshots any Watcher it hits so if he opens with that it's -10 watchers easily. If he just spams that he could take on hordes of them. Meanwhile other attacks leave him vulnerable for so long it doesn't take 6 Watchers to kill him if that's what he does. It was always kind of a bummer for the "he cannot take that on" number to be determined by the bosses dumbest possible attack pattern rather than their potential to handle that many Watchers.
Friede did so well despite having jack shit poise. Also those abyss watchers were lucky that the only 2 bosses with an invincibility phase followed by a large explosion were both fire based. If Soul of Cinder's explosion had been lightning instead, they would have taken 360 damage I believe. I think that would have been just barely not enough damage to one shot, tho. According to the wiki, the Abyss Watcher's highest resistance is to dark, but Friede actually did 582 damage anyway with her resurrection explosion anyway. If they had been targetting Friede as she got up, she might've pulled a Midir. Funnily enough, of all the bosses with a resurrection explosion, Demon Prince had the lowest damage, with only 217.
Friede's explosion is Fire damage. Abyss Watchers have 15% Physical def, 18% Slash def, 14% Strike def, 16% Thrust def, 10% Magic def, 8% Fire def, -12% Lightning def, and 35% Dark def. So yes, they would have survived Soul of Cinder's explosion even if it was Lightning.
Everyone hates old B-Town but the first time I looked up in and realized "holy shit, I'm in the background of Firelink" was one of my core Dark Souls memories. You can see connections all over the game. I once watched a video where someone clipped out of Painted World where you usually jump the exit, ran off into the distant hills, and somehow just discovered Anor Londo sitting there. Apparently Ariamis is just a long jog west from the chapel that houses it's painting.
