I was received into the Orthodox Church 2 years ago and love Orthodoxy. However, about a year ago I was going through some bad stuff and I was not in a good place. I went to bed and woke up an hour later. When I opened my eyes there was a large dark figure standing over me. I screamed so loud and kicked at the figure and jumped out of my bed ready to fight for my life. I very quickly flipped on a light switch and the dark figure disappeared. I immediately texted my priest in terror and explained to him what had happened. He told me to come to Divine Liturgy, which I did, but I was exhausted as I had only had 1 hour of sleep. I was so terrified from this experience. As I came forward to receive a blessing from my Priest, he gave me this look and offered me Holy Communion. The look he had on his face looked like it was a matter of life and death. I had difficulty sleeping for months afterwards and had to keep some form of light on. I would fall asleep to this on many occasions as it would comfort me. I am writing this because I recently allowed myself to fall into sin, and when I do, I feel so guilty and unworthy to cry out to God, but this chant reminded me of that terrible night when that dark figure was standing over me. Terror overtook me and I could not help but cry out to the Lord. There was not a feeling of being unworthy, just a terror that made me cry to him. As awful as that experience was, it is a good reminder for me now to cry out to Him now that I have fallen. Thank you for posting this chant, it brings me comfort yet again. Christ be with you all.

@orthodoxmindandheart I am an octavist at my church. The bass was pretty good. I am curious what this would sound like with an octavist singing it. I know they are rare in the United States. My range is A0 to E4. I am only 21, so my voice hasn't fully matured. At 40 years old is when a low bass is at peak performance.

I have been listening to this channel since I started my inquiry into orthodoxy a couple years ago. It never even occurred to me to subscribe. I fixed that today :) I was received into the church by holy baptism last Pascha. This is absolutely beautiful. It is also awesome that it is a homeschool choir. I was homeschooled

I was born protestant and I became instead a worshiper of rock n roll and do as thou wilt philosophy and now that I'm an old broken fool and seen Orthodoxy and Catholicism via the internet and after losing something that took a lifetime, it tore my soul in half in awe and respect for The Lord

I am am trying to learn this melody for my Vesper services at home but I am not that gifted. I am only able to memorize a melody if the text I'm reading is 100% the same as the one I'm hearing.
