I was born protestant and I became instead a worshiper of rock n roll and do as thou wilt philosophy and now that I'm an old broken fool and seen Orthodoxy and Catholicism via the internet and after losing something that took a lifetime, it tore my soul in half in awe and respect for The Lord
O Lord, I have cried out unto Thee, hear Thou me; hear Thou me, O Lord. O Lord, I have cried out unto Thee, hear Thou me. Give ear to the voice of my supplication when I cry out unto Thee: hear Thou me, O Lord. Let my prayer be set forth before Thee as the incense, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice; hear Thou me, O Lord. + Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth, and a protecting door about about my lips. + Incline not my heart to evil words, to make excuses in sins. + With men that work iniquity; and I will not communicate with the choicest of them. + The just man shall correct me in mercy and shall reprove me; but let not the oil of the sinner anoint my head. + For my prayer also shall still be against the things with which they are well pleased; their judges falling upon the rock have been swallowed up. + They shall hear my words, for they are sweet; as when the thickness of the earth is broken up upon the ground, their bones are scattered by the side of hell. + But to Thee, O Lord, Lord, are mine eyes; in Thee have I put my trust, take not away my soul. + Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, and the traps of the workers of iniquity. + Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I alone escape. + I cried unto the Lord with my voice, with my voice unto the Lord, did I make my supplication. + I poured out my supplication before Him; I showed before Him my trouble. + When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then Thou knewest my path. + In the way wherein I walked have they secretly laid a snare for me. + I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me. + Refuge failed me; no one cared for my soul. + I cried unto Thee, O Lord; I said: Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. + Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low. + Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Thy Name. The righteous shall wait for me until Thou recompense me. Out of the depths have I cried to Thee, O Lord, Lord hear my voice. Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication. If Thou, O Lord, shouldst mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But with Thee there is forgiveness, that thou mayest be feared Because of Thy Name have I waited for Thee, O Lord; my soul hath waited upon Thy word, my soul hath hoped in the Lord. From the morning watch until night, from the morning watch let Israel trust in the Lord. For with the Lord there is mercy and with Him is abundant redemption, and He will deliver Israel from all his iniquities. Praise the Lord, all ye nations; praise Him, all ye people. For His mercy is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endureth forever. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. Let us sing the praises of Mary the Virgin, Door of Heaven, glory of all the world, sprung forth from man, who also didst bear the Lord; the song of the bodiless powers, and the enriching of the faithful; for she revealed herself as Heaven and the Temple of the Godhead. She destroyed the bulwarks of enmity and ushered in peace and did throw open the Kingdom. Wherefore, in that we possess this confirmation of our Faith, we have a defender, even the Lord Who was born of her. Be bold, therefore, be bold, ye people of God, for He, the All-powerful, will vanquish all your enemies.
I stand convicted before my God. The fruits of Spirit surrounding me are bitter. I find no consolation in anything or anyone of this world. The bitter fruits are given to a man God despises. It is not the fault of anyone but me. O Lord I cry, not for tribulations to be removed, not for my own the flesh of my own to console me in my struggle. O Lord I cry that I may endure as You will it. Let it be as You will it to be. I will no longer look for peace but for strength to endure and to not out live my love for You. Have mercy on me Oh God, have mercy on us all.
As someone in the book A Nun's Story advised Sister Gabrielle in the Novitiate Don't reject the graces when they come, you will need all the strength they will bring. When she was young the Little Flower said and thought she could do without the consolations but later asked God for them. Jesus offered us a gift in telling His disciples, I will not leave you orphans, I will ask the Father and send you another Comforter, Anna the Prophetess told all in Jerusalem who waited for the promised Consolation of Israel about the infant Jesus and the knowledge the Holy Ghost had given her. Because of the spiritual warfare going on the Father and Jesus made provision for Comfort. Ask for this gift and it will be given you. Don't reject the graces but knock and it shall be opened.
Ian: What do you mean by "The fruits of Spirit surrounding me are bitter" -? Read in Galatians chapter five what the Gifts of the Spirit are. They are all good things, not bitter. God does not despise you. He loves us and offers us forgiveness. If you are Eastern Orthodox, go to to confession. If you are not, go to an Orthodox church near you from now until Pascha (a week after western Easter.) Holy Week is coming! Go!
If I am not meant to be a monk, I pray to find a faithful Orthodox wife with a beautiful voice like you. Please pray for me and thank you for this harrowed rendition with rests my anxiety-dreaded heart.
the lord has forgiven you of your transgressions, for all who see Him in his glory will rise like incense to His kingdom, now and ever and unto ages of ages! Alleluia!

Out of the depths i have cried unto thee Lord hear my voice and hearken unto my supplication 🙏🙏🙏. Lord Jesus Christ son of God have mercy on us sinners. Holy mother of God save us 💙 🙏🥀
Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth and a door round about my lips. Incline not my heart to evil words, to make excuses in sins. With men that work iniquity, and I will not communicate with the choicest of them. The just man shall correct me in mercy and shall reprove me, but let not the oil of the sinner anoint my head. As when the thickness of the earth is broken upon the ground, their bones are scattered by the side of hell. But to Thee, O Lord, Lord are mine eyes. In Thee have I put my trust; take not away my soul. Keep me from the snare, which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape. I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication. I poured out my complaint before Him; I showed before Him my trouble. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then Thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. I looked on my right hand and beheld, but there was no man that would know me. Refuge failed me. No one cared for my soul. I cried unto Thee, O Lord; I said Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. If there are 10 stichera (Saturday evenings and Liturgies of the Presanctified): (10) Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Thy name. From Psalms 141, 142, 130, and 117. Glory to God! Thank you to the chanters, Lisa A, and everyone who commented; we worship our Radiant Triune Godhead together in Spirit and Truth!
💝 God even though the path a walk isn’t always easy I am thankful that leads to your path of righteousness🙏🏻 lead me where are you will I will always follow you amen💝🇬🇷
Glory be to God +++ I could be wrong but it sounds like PSALMS +++ Lord, I have cried unto Thee, hearken unto me; attend to the voice of my supplication when I cry unto Thee. Let my prayer be set forth as incense before Thee, the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice. Set, O Lord, a watch before my mouth, and a door of enclosure round about my lips. Incline not my heart unto words of evil, to make excuse with excuses in sins, With men that work iniquity; and I will not join with their chosen. The righteous man will chasten me with mercy and reprove me; as for the oil of the sinner, let it not anoint my head. For yet more is my prayer in the presence of their pleasures; swallowed up near by the rock have their judges been. They shall hear my words, for they be sweetened; as a clod of earth is broken upon the earth, so have their bones been scattered nigh unto hades. For unto Thee, O Lord, O Lord, are mine eyes, in Thee have I hoped; take not my soul away. Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, and from the stumbling-blocks of them that work iniquity. The sinners shall fall into their own net; I am alone until I pass by. churchmotherofgod.org/scripture-readings/old-testament-readings/psalms/2798-psalm-140-vespers-lord-i-have-cried.html
I have been hunting for female chanters, and to discover who this pure voice belongs to, and I believe that this chanter is Gigi Baba Shadid from the Antiochian Church and she has her own channel here on RU-vid called Gigi Baba.
Beautiful. All North American parishes should sound like this. Far surpassing the Athonite style, which gets on my nerves. BTW, I like your improv on "sprung forth from man". That part is tough to pull off without a cold.
@@johnzamer3142 yes, John of Damascus spoke Greek. He composed in Greek. He used psaltic music (the so-called Byzantine music). For one to properly reproduce the music, one needs to be able to read the psaltic notation. Western notation cannot accurately portray all the nuances of Orthodox psaltic music.
It is from an Orthodox Christian Vespers service; and, since they are using Kazan, I suspect it is an Antiochian Orthodox Church. It is Byzantine Chant.
Stephanie Gorris how can you say ‘Antiochian ‘? My Greek Parish sounds like this! Oh, travel outside the big cities and there’s a whole World of Orthodoxy that’s not so Ethnic!
Evlogeite! This is extremely beautiful! Is there any chance you could please do this exact same melody but with the HTM translation of this text? I am am trying to learn this melody for my Vesper services at home but I am not that gifted. I am only able to memorize a melody if the text I'm reading is 100% the same as the one I'm hearing. Forgive me if this is asking too much from you. God be with you!
@orthodoxmindandheart I am an octavist at my church. The bass was pretty good. I am curious what this would sound like with an octavist singing it. I know they are rare in the United States. My range is A0 to E4. I am only 21, so my voice hasn't fully matured. At 40 years old is when a low bass is at peak performance.
Well, I would agree. The chant is beautiful, the melody is amazing as well as some of the harmony. But the translation in some places seems off. I feel like the words could flow differently and more gracefully if slightly different.
Well.. I don’t know what jurisdiction these folks belong to but I didn’t hear one Greek word. I hear something definitely indebted to some ancient and venerable land of the Fathers but this is definitely Orthodox Catholicism as expressed through the language and experience of the English and American Churches.
and through catholicism you mean the ecumenical character of christianity that is not related with vatican heresy. here, i told you five greeklish words. can you find them?
I'm sorry you don't like it. This recording was done years ago and we used what was available at the time. Thank God there are more resources available now, but certainly Kazan did a great service to the English speaking Orthodox when he published his music; it's hardly fair or chartiable to call it garbage.
@@orthodoxmindandheart It's beautiful. There are still a lot of people using Kazan today because people somehow "get" it. There are certainly some errors in the structural arrangement, but my guess is Kazan is a Saint for giving it to the world when it needed it. God bless you and your beautiful voices.
