My mangrove is about 2 years old she’s a female and when I first got her she was a fire cracker always striking and biting the cage myself and anyone else who interacted with her. Eventually she calmed down and I had a bit of an issue getting her to eat at first until she finally took one of the live rat pinky’s that I gave her and now she takes them down every time. I had to unfortunately force feed her a few times bc I had tried everything possible to get her to eat even trying live that was my first attempt after she wouldn’t take f/t and none of it worked so for a couple months I tried everything from live to senting to birds eggs fish frogs nothing worked then I tried live agian and she took it ever since she’s been a real sweetheart. I loved her even when she was a psycho though so it didn’t bother me much. The only thing that bothered me about her was the fact that she wouldn’t eat. And now everything is perfect and I would definitely recommend this species to other experienced keepers who know what to do in times like this because they are a very beautiful and fun snake to keep overall. I cannot wait to breed them and have a bunch of these little buggers because as I said before they are a beautiful and fun species to keep if you know what you’re doing. I know babies can give you a fit too and I’m not looking forward to that part of it but I’ve got this down I am confident that I will be able to get them to eat as well and cannot wait to get this thing started. Mangrove snakes are awesome and I appreciate all who keep them as they can be a hard yet rewarding species to keep.
I can confirm last point doesn work on every reptile. I had a crested gecko that didnn't like handling. I tried to be near his vivarium for some time and handle him every day. He was always trying to get away from melater he even started biting. Eventually I gave up and treated him just as a display animal. After 2-3 months of not handling him, and just cleaning his enclosure once a week and filling his food bowl every other day, he stopped going into panic mode every time I opened his anclosure and started jumping on my hand himself and just chill on it. Every animals needs his own approach.
Ι remain puzzled as to why someone would choose to breed a wild animal, such as a mangrove snake, only for it to live a life confined within an apartment instead of its natural habitat. It doesn't fully address my concerns regarding the ethics of keeping animals meant to roam freely in the wild, in a domestic environment
Do you think I can keep a panther chameleon and a caiman lizard in the same enclosure without a barrier? 6x3x6 - the chameleon will have most of the canopy area. My only concern is the small size of the chameleon relative to caiman lizard, and one attack on the chameleon may be a game over. Thanks!
I have a tegu and one time while cuddling by my shoulder he looked at me and yawned like 2 inches from my face it was insane lmao then he just laid back down would love to have a caiman this
He neglected to mention these are rear fanged venomous snakes and their venom is as mild as they come, not much worse then a bee sting. Kid is obviously trying to act a bit to much…btw no one cares about the name you changed it to and why, everyone just wants to see the snake, so don’t be that weird reptile owner that blah blah blahs about their reptiles name No One Cares!
i read online like 6 foot long by 4 foot high by 3 foot wide is minimum for adult ones these are so cool and i want one but no chance with the amount of space i dont have
