so basically you only care about the fact that it has female main characters and not the quality of these series. as excepted from an American. also before any of you hyenas pounce on me for that comment i never implied having female character's as the main character is a bad thing im just saying that the person making this video is a grifter.

It feels like this video was made based on the assumption that people are watching it with the intent of getting into these kinds of relationships in real life when that isn't the case (for the most part). The small minority that are have far bigger problems going on in their lives where anime is used as a coping mechanism or to affirm their feelings. While that is a problem, using anime as a scapegoat doesn't help anyone, nor does it tackle the root cause. You forget that fiction as a concept is used to break the bounds set in reality, and for many people these shows are exactly that, a fantasy. It surprises me that you ask yourself why people watch these kinds of shows when the writing is on the wall. There are many people who enjoy fictional content that has controversial themes but that doesn't necessarily reflect what they want in real life because fiction is not typically an accurate portrayal of real life. While I am all for authentic and accurate representation in fiction, I am against people who push this as a necessity or requirement to the point where fiction is bound by the same rules as real life, since it goes against the very reason fiction as a concept exists in the first place. More people need to recognise when they are simply not the target audience instead of trying to cancel fictional content for having themes that they do not like. I don't understand why there is such a big push for such titles to make adjustments in an effort to "appeal to a wider audience" when in reality something that is made for everyone appeals to no one, that's how you get a bland and sterile product. There are far more important issues out in the real world that tackling fiction isn't going to fix.

I actually wanted to add that the "dysfunction" with these animes start in the original drama of how the main characters come to be. Aka their families tend to be dysfunctional, to want to kill or abandon these girls. The relationships they forge with the undesirable "beasts" in fact become the first functional relationship they have if one looks at their stories. In real life, beggars can't be choosers, the anime stories mostly show the good side. They're not meant to be slice of life, but supernatural, otherwordly, deeply sad yet lucky at the same time. They sell because they're an exception more than a rulebook. Most of the Greek stories of Gods were highly dysfunctional because they were meant to impress, induce a sense of awe and stupor 🤔. But naturally, they do also transmit views of the creator and their society. Improvement-wise, I personally wish their voices and the sounds the female actors are asked to do were more mature.

In Mahoutsukai no Yome and Niehime to Kemono no Ou, no one is forced to marry anyone. Both "partners" are undesirables or outcasts - the girls are sold and underfed (thin, weak) by their own families and communities - betrayed by the human families they were born into. The male is seen as stressed, unable to find a partner, due to some sort of crucial defect that dictates their lives, until the exception comes along and accepts them becauee they themselves don't have a choice... It's forced in a way but not by the main characters themselves. They are often "returned" back only to br betrayed again by the human communities they are returned to...

Ugh I hate RU-vid's rules. It's so hard to follow what you're trying to say sometimes. I keep watching videos like this hoping to figure out if I should watch MIA, but every single one is so vague. Everyone claims there's a lot of "questionable content" and yet nobody can say what it is. If there's just a bit of nudity and a bunch of violence against children it's not so bad, but people keep saying it's Really Bad and the mangaka is a Weirdo. I guess I just shouldn't be bothering with RU-vid if I want to know if a show would be something I don't want to see.

Cool characters, great soundtrack, in a pop art style? I'm putting this one on my watchlist immediately! I'm sorry though, hearing "intro to anime for someone older, like 20s and up" and I had to yell. I'm well past 30 and I'm flattered that you didn't assume all of my generation wasted our young lives watching Toonami and Adult Swim anime all day and all night. And you're right, some of us wasted it watching MTV instead. I could probably get my sister to try this one, maybe.

i didn't mind it t first because the punishment and riko being desensitized to... it was weird but like okay, it's a weird world. I ignored it. But then as it went on it just got more and more annoying and the toilet scene was a breaking point. AND THEN I started reading manga and it got even more uncomfortable.

One thing I find interesting with the series is that Maomao and Jinshi are treated kinda like the opposite of their gender by the narrative. Maomao is driven by her curiosity and thirst for knowledge, she likes helping people because that's who she is and she doesn't have to be put in a romance with Jinshi, whereas Jinshi is (at least more early on) treated as eye candy to the audience and other characters where he is the one who falls for Maomao first and his main motivations at the moment are to help Maomao while he falls for her more and more. It's like the reverse of typical tropes for the leading male character and the secondary woman character

Slightly off topic: There is a reason why I wanted to make a Berserk inspired original story that removed a lot of the sexual assault and retooled a lot of that bleakness into a story that had to deal with all of humanity forced to to forever resist or giving into canibalism due to unnatural circumstances, keeping the ideas and themes of struggle and the world being bleak with a glimmer of hope like Kentaro inspired me. Made In Abyss is genuinely designed to make people uncomfortable, and I have respect for the fans who have taken away the best messages from it, but when there is an overuse of Reiko shirtless scenes or the “big dick” jokes that are used as levity, it feels like a contradiction. Sexualizing a kid or moe doesn’t and shouldn’t have to happen to hammer home that it’s a dark series, the gore, psychological trauma, and violence should do enough to sell it. Those two points alone make me not wanna touch this on my crunchy roll history because I’m a dad, and I don’t want my kid questioning why I watch Anime. At least Berserk makes it clear r*piste deserve a gruesome death, or how Chainsaw Man explores red flags involved with manipulation of youth and grooming.

When watching Carole & Tuesday, it felt as if I was watching an American show with an anime coating. A lot of the newer American animated shows and movies seem to feature modern acting and musical talents to bring in an audience. Miles Morales Spiderman and Arcane for example. Also, both Carole and Tuesday were boring. Outshined by other characters in the show, in my opinion. Like best girl Angela.
