Here you'll find various clips of my favorite guitar players: Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, Dann Huff and Jay Graydon, as well as other musicians and singers in the west coast genre.
If you're a guitarist my transcription projects on Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, Dann Huff and Jay Graydon might also be of interest.
I don't understand why Warren is held in such high regard as a singer. It totally misses me. A4 is NOT a high note but Warren couldn't hit it without going into his falsetto. The D5 on "Heart to Heart" isn't exactly low but he didn't quite nail that either. His interpretation of all of these tunes was purely karaoke. He brought nothing new to them.
Al was having a great time and how could he not with such a great band behind him. This groove music still exists every Monday night in Las Vegas with Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns.
I believe that's the mega talented Larry Williams on the tenor sax. A top call studio keyboard player as well. In David Foster and Jay Graydon circle of friendship.
I love how Dann is bouncing around in those big sunglasses and 5 years after this he looks like he’s with Def Leppard 😜 Such a great guitarist and cool guy….
Went online to see if Jay Graydon can be found as the guitar contributor to Leif's I Was Made For Dancin, and Wow even with the videotape is still pleasant to listen to. Al's rendition he did around same time on SCTV was PRC from album, and ❤ for posting. May be worth digging as the Friday's vids it appears the mix as it went into booth may be available i.e. Kim Carnes Bette Davis Eyes (Shout Factory) vs. Kim's More Love. As I recall paying over $120 DVD just for a few EPS of SCTV, I will be on lookout for similar "Friday's Jams". Until then...
Interesting how Dann doesn't sing just cruises through the tunes and gets to stroke off with his modified 64 Tyler/Strat. In the beginning Dann was the one singing these tunes in the earlier days. When I was talking with him he tells me" yeah and there WAS NO AUTOTUNE THEN".......
Saw Giant at the Met Sports Center, Bloomington, MN, when they opened for Eddie Money. They were incredible! Then met the band and Dann at the Hotel Restaurant after the show, and Dann gave me his phone #. That’s how I later got to observe him at couple sessions in Nashville. He told me Grunge is what killed Giant. Glad he’s in the Producer’s chair now, but still adding his incredible guitar playing to recordings!
