Great install guide. It did fool me a bit when you were taking off the carbon fiber wheel during the video like you were going to install a base wheel again.
A thick blanket saturated in water distributes the impact force of the hail onto a larger surface area while absorbing a portion of its potential energy before striking metal or glass. Ive done this many time here in Texas, using the comforter off my bed. Or you can stand there and watch your property be destroyed. Your insurance will go up if you make a claim, or you can launder your comforter, your call.
To protect the windshield and hood from hail... I'm just guessing. In winter, when it's freezing, ppl will put moving quilts over their hoods and windshiled so the freeze will ice up on the quilts instead of the windshield, and it helps the motor at the same time.
