A fun project to showcase videos of activities I enjoy which includes; travelling, animals, motorcycling, snowboarding and seeing new places.
I created the Skippy's Adventures Channel as a place where my family and friends can keep tabs on what I’m getting up and places I’m visiting, and other people across the world too can enjoy my videos as a form of escapism from the humdrum of every day life!
I started Skippy's Adventures channel after realising that I have visited many interesting places, but never filmed much footage of my exploits. After viewing many great channels on RU-vid, I’ve decided to give it a go myself.
cruise control... i've had in other vehicles where it goes stupid if you power on and start moving before it's ready. (almost like the CC doesnt know starting point). i.e. turn on power, start pushing bike or rolling it before full dials ready. I give mine about 10 seconds after screen is fully ready before moving it. nice review and good info. many thanks. I've done about 3k miles on this one. finding it as good as my r1150rt. sheeps wool seat cover. clip on. yr bum will luv ya for it. comfort, sweat, no hotspots...
@@marinmar7486 could the additional weight of the pillion pressing against your back (during braking etc) be causing you to grip the bars more tightly than if riding solo, thus causing the numbness? The numbness in my fingers is definitely caused from high frequency vibrations while riding solo.
@@skippysadventures1234 Yea,and with pillion I can throw my balls away after 30 min😆..On a corners road..Highway is ok..But not a too much confy bike deffinetly..I didnt try gt..
@@LordBilious I’ll pass your comment on to Jude 😂 Those Swiss/Italy vlogs take a long time to compile due to their running time, so I’m cheating by uploading easier videos first! 😂 Also, I’m sure viewers prefer I mix it up instead of uploading European adventure tours week after week😃👍
Yes, the cruise control is activated whilst riding and if you’re stopped it’ll still shown the green cruise control icon on the dash. I’m sure there’s a certain speed you need to travelling above to re-engage the cruise control. Thanks for watching!
Ah yes the Uniparty - in power since forever to look after the interests of elites and business, and not the population. I'm a consultant too. We don't have the budget to pay for lobbyists so we can pay as much tax as Google or Apple...
It certainly seems that way. I’ve had friends that have recently left the UK to live elsewhere due to our crumbling infrastructure where it feels like nothing is working properly and government turn a blind eye to anyone that points out the obvious and the fact that middle of the road families are now struggling to afford a home, transport, raising children, education and healthy eating. Instead our government chooses to fund other countries and support certain conflicts abroad while pretending to save money by cutting pensioners winter fuel allowance - it boils my pi$$ because I know several pensioners just getting by.
@@skippysadventures1234 it's not even other countries, it's all the tax breaks and subsidy they give to big businesses and buddy-buddy VIP lane supply contracts. But anyone that threatens the status quo gets crushed by the press
I agree that it’s a multitude of issues and don’t even get me started about those tax breaks! My own personal story is that I became an accidental landlord some years ago and now I’m getting crucified and labelled a ‘greedy landlord’ by the government because I took certain steps (after becoming an accidental landlord) and planned to have the property income as a pension when I get older. Now the government is making it more onerous on and taxing private landlords to free up property for people that can’t afford the properties in the first place. The result is that large corporations (John Lewis, Lloyds etc) are buying up properties due to the tax breaks companies receive (but not private landlords/individuals). I can see where this property disaster is headed and it’s not looking good for lower income households that were hoping to get themselves on the property. Instead imagine trying to negotiate with a large corporation should a person lose their job and miss a payment…there’s no way they can cut a deal with a large corporation and they’d be out on their ear and face massive legal bills. However, a tenant still has the opportunity to cut a deal with a private landlord and be more flexible in coming to an agreement.
@@Funky_Geek Thanks for the compliment! I can confirm that the DJI Action 4 battery lasts a lot longer than a GoPro. With a GoPro I could get 30 minutes recording, sometimes 45 minutes at lower resolutions if I was lucky. With the DJI Action 4 I go out filming and when I get home there’s still half of the battery power left, so I’m guessing it can record for 1 hour easily. I film in 4K and 30FPS.
I think your problems might be due to the loose nut behind the handlebars. Try some heavier bar ends for the vibration. The best bike for a sports tourer is a Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird😁
Second part of the vid - state of the nation really ? Think I may dodge that one Paul, unless Ur gonna do immigration? There, I sed it. Down to you....
Unfortunately the average speed cameras start at the bottom of the hill under the trees, just past the houses now - a new set of cameras was recently installed earlier this year.
When I had the service bulletin done for the warm start knocking noise, the vibration across the board dramatically reduced. The knocking noise really bothered me, but once fixed, I've decided this is a lifelong bike for me. Also, the voight handle bar risers are highly recommended.
@@barthutchison4207 thanks for that information. When I asked Powerslide Motorcycles in Stoke about the warm start rattle they said to take it up with Suzuki head office, but I’ve not contacted them yet. I’ll investigate those bar risers you’ve mentioned because having the bars back an inch would help tremendously thank you.
I have the GSX S 1000, same motor and just love it. We have potholes as well here in South Australia but not as many as you by the sounds of it. We have speed cameras everywhere here as well and the speed limits are decreasing everyday. I haven’t had an issue with the brakes, I hated the stock tyres and changed them straight away. The handle bars on the S are a bit different to yours, no issues for me. I have put some aftermarket suspension on the rear and it is wonderful. The GX looks fantastic. 🤓take care
@@MRTPR thanks for sharing! Seems like you’ve got the same over-regulation problems in Australia too with the ever increasing money making cameras and reduced speed limits. The roads in the UK have gotten really bad very quickly over the past few years and I can’t recall a time in the past 20 years it was ever this bad. I’m surprised you don’t have any issues with your front brake because I thought the S and the GT are very similar save for the bodywork. Thanks for watching!
I really can't fault my GT it is a really lovely bike and my 6th new Suzuki. I don't find it vibey at all really especially at legal speeds. One thing I am not happy with are the headlights, it is going in for it's second service this Saturday and they are going to adjust them for me. How did you find your headlights ?
@@tonychettleburgh8953 several people have told me the GT doesn’t vibrate, so maybe there’s something that needs investigating on my bike. My eyes have never been great at night, so generally I avoid riding at night so can’t comment on the beam throw of the GT. I’m sure somebody else reading this comment will be able to provide some information regarding the lighting.
Ive the same bike gt+, love it... the only thing ive been disapointed with is the sat nav / phone connectivity. You can get risers that should help with the ergos you mentioned 👍
@@RideSafeNSmart yes, I agree that the phone connectivity is a pain in the backside having to leave your phone on all the time. I’ll investigate bar risers as I could be tempted to replace my GT with another GT. Thanks for watching 👍
The issue with Honda quality is a good point. There are similar statements coming up recently throughout the Internets. Also isnt it weird that buying a Japanese bike build in Thailand? I want it FROM Japan. Overall interesting topics in this video.
@@sv7017 I wasn’t aware there were others on the internet that have noticed similar about Honda build quality, so thank you for bringing this to my attention.Seems like we’re on the same page; if I’m paying for Japanese quality then I expect the product to be manufactured in Japan. Thank you for watching my video 👍
@@tonychettleburgh8953 glad to hear that and know that I’m not alone in wanting a Japanese bike built in Japan 🇯🇵 Six Suzuki’s, wowsers! I’ve had three Suzuki’s and always enjoyed riding them.
I started off with Hondas because they were the highest quality with the highest tech, bargain price and HP. It's crazy to me that Suzuki is the king rn for that.
@@backroadbeetle4781 it’s my observation. Honda quality has fallen sharply since they gained a reputation for quality back in the 80’s and 90’s. Thanks for watching! 👍
Paul, it's Lake Brienzersee! Shame it was raining, there are a nice few outside eateries on that side U can sit on the lakes edge and watch the paddle steamers go by.
I need a touring machine and this bike is in my top 3 list. However, I have 3 concerns about the bike. 1. I never owned a 4 cylinder, only 1 and 2 and I'm afraid the motor would get boring sound wise. 2. ergonomics. I don't know how to serve this problem. You get to test ride for maybe an hour, but what if pain starts in 2 hours? I read that people had shoulder pain 3. Wind protection. Im ft 5.10 and require the windscreen to blast the wind over my helmet. No wind noise! Can you give me your quick thoughts on these 3 points? Thanks!
@@sv7017 the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT is a sports tourer, not a tourer. 1. Yes, the sound isn’t that engaging compared to a twin, however when the engine spools up and wrenches you forward it’s quite intoxicating. Depending on the capacity of your previous singles and twins, are you ready for 150 bhp from the legendary Suzuki 1000cc engine? 2. Ergonomically this bike suits me for an hour and a half in the saddle until I need to stretch my legs, and I can do up to about 130 miles in the saddle if I really need to, by which time I have to stop and stretch my legs - remembering that this bike is more sporty than touring. 3. I’m 5’9” with a 29” inseam. The standard screen is okay but a bit noisy, and thankfully doesn’t suffer any wind buffeting. I generally fit MRA Vario-Touring screens to my bikes from new, as these screens have more of a curve to them to allow better wind flow and also have a built in spoiler that I can extend for extended motorway riding. From your requirements it seems like you want an outright touring bike (thumper sound, good ergonomics and no wind), so maybe a BMW R1250RT is more your thing because the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT is quite sporty. Coming from owning a long line of sports bikes I find the Suzuki GT quite comfortable compared to a sportsbike. I’m not too concerned by the sound of the exhaust as I prefer a quieter exhaust when continental touring. Wind protection is subjective; I’ve owned an Africa Twin that had horrendous wind buffeting, to the point where I didn’t enjoy riding it whereas another of my mates didn’t feel any wind buffeting on his Africa Twin. The Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT strikes a good balance of having enough luggage space for a two-week European tour, sporty enough to throw it around alpine pass hairpin bends and enjoy your destination of choice, yet comfortable enough to travel through several countries in a couple days without needing a chiropractor appointment afterwards.
About time we heard u give it some beans mate 👍 Looks like a great ride but think I'd rather go over the edge in one piece, rather than hitting one of those concrete posts beforehand.🤔💣
@@phildavies1192 the massive drops right next to the road are insane. Think I’d prefer to be stopped by a bollard instead of plunging to my death ☠️. As for giving it the besns, that footage has been edited out…officer 😇
@@RideSafeNSmart I’m glad somebody else has been able to see this too. Honda built its reputation on quality way back in the 80’s but the recent (2018 for me) Africa Twin that was manufactured in Thailand had alarmingly poor quality control (eg rust visible on frame from new etc)
@@skippysadventures1234 i hear you, so far from what most of us expect from Honda. Shame really many brands nowadays seem to have lost the vision they once had and until we the consumers hit em where it hurts i suspect it will continue. I had a cb650f 21 brand new wemt through two headstock bearings before it was 2yrs old. Had a 22 cb1000r which ate batteries and both had early signs of corrosion 🫣😳🙃

@@paulw103 the GoPro has been relegated to second camera because I can’t trust it. What you’re seeing from a first person perspective is the DJI Osmo Action 4 in 4K and best of all I had no issues filming with it for the duration of my two week tour.
@@phildavies1192 thanks mate, they’ll be on interest if your looking to do a specific mountain pass as I’ve split the subsequent videos into mountain passes (and not specific days) so people could find the pass that interests them most 👍
