Hi Matt, Thanks for your videos! I have some problems with my sunroof of British Open Classic I have installed the new internal and external cover but the sunroof doesn t close totally, could you please help me ? If you want I can send some pictures o video
I don't want to be "that guy" but digital calipers, dial calipers and Vernier calipers are all different, a Vernier scale is two sets of markings that align with each other along a linear scale. No moving parts and great for confusing apprentices. No batteries to go flar and don't get crunchy like dial calipers,
All the arms I've seen are positive camber Matt. Channel (HRE IRL) did a video on lining up a bush with the stub axle, title (Modifying Rear Swing Arm For Classic Race Mini) but he's way off in his thinking IMO. I'll put a link in my next comment but I'm not sure it will show up.
Loving the videos, Im looking possibly getting one of custom minis fibreglass mini vans/pick up, would i need to fit some kind off roll cage? If so where do i mount it too?
@@JasonKane77 thanks mate I’m glad you are enjoying my stuff and appreciate you watching. Custom mini complete body shells are really strong by themselves. I would have a minimal intrusive cage in my self just for the safety aspect of an accident. It would need to pickup on the front and rear subframe areas ideally or sandwich the floor with some spreader plates.
@@JasonKane77 no problem mate. I did a cage for a sprint body before, there is videos on it and it just used a safety devices weld in cage that was modified so you could go down that route
@@williamholmes9129 as a rule you notch the thinner material and also the box is the main frame for the radius arm mounting so ideally you want to keep that complete
Nice video 👍🏼 I have fitted a few air bag sets to customers vans in the past, but they have been the single line single gauge system. However, I am still in two minds whether or not to fit them to my relay, which is constantly loaded on one side. It seems that the 2 line 2 garage system would be ideal, but, I’m nervous of removing the bump stops, and no longer having them. I’m also wondering if the HD springs with new bump tops are a better option. I wondered what your opinion might be on this? I’m a car/van mechanic so fitting either HD springs or air bags is fine for me. Thanks Tim
@@ttatimbo5830 I had the twin line system on my other motorhome as it’s was always at max weight. The twin line is a really good setup as I could use it to help level the van as in lifting one side and dropping the other. The air bags are very strong so no bump stops is fine in my opinion.
@@skidmores.garagethanks, appreciate your reply. I think I’m over thinking it really. Mine sits on the bump stop one side, and no where near on the other. My springs look tired but when I MOT’d it recently there are no cracks. So I’m thinking. Air bags might be the best way forward. Also, new springs, particularly HD twin leaf are surprisingly expensive
@@markhuckercelticcrossbows7887 my body man dose have a metro style front end of bill Richards estate as that used to be a metro think it was called bessy
Hi Matt - very useful video. I just had a query on the side cable tensioners. Mine are rusted out and snapped off and the anchor points are also rusted out - did you have the same issue and if so how did you fix it or fabricate something..any help appreciated.
Individually valves airbags are better imho. Otherwise.... When one bag gets compressed on cornering it over inflates the other bag(s) making tgd an lean over even more? Despite the cost, time and hassle I'm gonna go for in dependant, separate airbags. Good to share ideas!
@@MultiOutdoorman I agree mate I had individual bags on my autotrail motorhome I had and it dose work well. This was just a kit to help when towing my trailer really so mainly just for lift so it was cheap and cheerful
Worth noting that the brake cable on these vans can become stretched with fully extended airbags. Some folk unclip the cable retaining clip from the leaf spring... Good vid
Such a great help...fitted a tow bar to my B7 today.. i know its just a face lift model but it is intresting that a b6 tow bar fits a b7 an no towbar shops seem to want to tell you that. So took a punt at the wreckers
Great work on the frame as usual - but oh Matt - sorry to see you flat again: Do the things that are fun and make you smile - get out on that mountain bike with your lad, take the pooch for a mooch... when its time, the workshop and racing will call you again - it always does in the end. We'll be here to watch and learn, cheering you on when you are back - take it easy - Rob
Terrific film Matt. Servos have always been a bit of a mystery if honest. I have replaced a couple but never attempted to open one up - might now have a go next time.
Nearly 4 years into a classic mini build. It's hard to find time with family and work commitments, but satisfying when I do make some progress. Sick of rust repairs but getting to build a micra k11 engine now, so something different. I'll keep watching your videos when you do make them.
Do what ever makes you happy. When you make another video I’ll be here. Do have a question about your fab table… what size and how thick is it? Would you make it the same again or what would you change?
@@matthoward923 my table is 3000x1500 and the top is 25mm thick. The table is good, I’d probably go for a proper fab table next with a thick top as they are machined flat so much better then my rolled one
Hey buddy I know it Been a long time but I have just stumbled across your post do you still have the suicide gear shifter for sale or do you make them?
