My call to ministry was, and has been totally life changing. There are still battles, but I walk with the father, so the victory is guaranteed. The pay isn't great, but the rewards are biblical.
I've listened to this episode twice already. I actually just started listening to the book by John and Gregory on Audible yesterday and you decided to re release rhe episode. One of the most pivotal episodes for me as a Christian who struggles with stewardship.
Ive listened to this twice too and recommended it to several people. Thanks for re-releasing it. John you did so great on this podcast. I wish you'd do more like this one!!
Before I continue listening I think the idea is if you're giving it away as you go you remain motivated. If you're hoarding you just end up with a pile that serves nothing and no one.
This was my first listen when I found the Bible Project last year and I'm glad I kept listening through all the wincing in the first half, because I have come to love these explorations. Many of the reasons I distrusted Christians and dismissed them as selfish and clueless were contained here. My main takeaway this time round is how valuable it is to be every day cultivating a living relationship with Our Lord, so that it's not what I think, or what anyone else thinks, but what God speaks to me directly that determines my daily trajectory.
You only get out of it what you put into it. You're wasting your time if you walk in with blinders on and full of preconceived notions. You can't love God if you're full of pride. Start from a place of humility and surrender to God. Try this and you will have a truly rewarding experience
@@SeekingAlfalfa RU-vid is auto-deleting a lot of comments for seemingly no reason. I've had quite a few deleted, and all I've been talking about is driving or something like that. I would be quicker to assume that is what's happened before assuming someone from Bible project did it. They don't seem to be very active, if at all, on the podcast channel. I've never seen a reply here, but they do reply on the main channel sometimes.
When I remember that Israel received everyday mana and Jesus says he is the mana and not just of bread for the gut human beans need but we need HIM. I can not think about anything but the eucharistic bread.
It's so interesting that the way you pray the Lord 's prayer it is almost exactly how I was taught back in my country in Portuguese. There we call "Pai nosso".
Re: parable of shrewd manager,, it's a wise play to make the clients think of the owner favorably. Builds some relationship / goodwill equity by making a write-down on the accounts. The manager is acting as a good fiduciary of the master's resources, at the 11th hour,.even though there's nothing (immediately) in it for them. They choose not to burn bridges for the master, but leaves their clients feeling good. It is a shrewd play!
In case you still don't get the difference between being "blessed" and "having the good life," I think what Tim and John are trying to say is: We generally look at the Beatitudes as Jesus saying people living unfortunate lives will be blessed by God; that He'll right the wrongs done to these people. Tim and John are saying that generally understanding is not what Jesus is saying. Jesus is trying to say that people who are living "unfortunate lives" are actually living the good life. Jesus is trying to use the Beatitudes to change what we think a life well lived means. At least that's what I think 😅😅😅🤷🏽♀️.
yes! you are so very close to understanding God's true character of agape love! that God is not violent at all, never ever! He tells us about & shows us his selfless love continually yet we don't trust Him & we expect He is going to punish us at His will. Yet, He never changes .. He is continually the same ... perfect live giving & merciful
What I got from this is that the more we share our goods poverty will decrease and soon be eliminated. I mean like he said we are in our richest times then ever and there are still poor people? We can do better. Let’s do better!
This subject was a time of reflection. As a "Manager" promoting others who weren't on anyone else's radar, fighting for shift differentials and pay raises, allowing others to work extra to pay off debts and their children's debts has blessed 🙌🏽 me. God sees! No man took care of me, but Father provided and still does. I'm grateful. ❤TY Father.
@Bible Project Podcast Dear Bible Project one of your team members shares a poem titled “The Road to Uttermost” please share or send the entire poem. I loved it and wanted to write it in my journal.
I have been following this series of the Sermon on the Mount every week repeatedly since January. I have never been so blessed and close to Jesus my whole life. I thank God for the Bible Project team and may God bless you all more abundantly in all your needs. 🙏🏽💙
I listen to the podcast every Monday morning at work, and the story of the woman with the chicken brought me to tears, Lord may I be more like you in everything I do
Really lovely episode. The conversation tone is inviting and refreshing and very engaging. I really love and enjoy your content, opens up the Bible to new depths for me. Love from Trinidad and Tobago.
