Hi, hey, welcome to my channel. I'm Holly and I love to create, mostly with fabric since I fell in love with quilting. Here on Dandelion Stitches I share quilting ideas, fabric hauls, but what I love the most is reviewing quilting subscription boxes. Several times a year we do a three month Battle of the Boxes where you get the chance to vote for your favorite, or not so favorite.
I'm past the age of retirement and proudly claim my "aging hippie" status. I have 3 adult children, 6 (soon to be 7) exceptional grandchildren and a giant Australian Labradoodle named Dandelion. Look for her at the end of each video. Several months ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and I share a bit of that journey here. If you see my hands shake, that's why.
Kind and more than a little quirky, my goal for this channel is to provide a positive, drama-free place for you to come and share my love of fabric, color, and life.
I grew up in a burb, but I have lived in big cities for most of my life. Now I crave birdsong and quiet, fresh dewy mornings and distance from city street traffic. Problem is, I'm so used to hopping on the subway and being able to do or get anything I want.
I lived for 20 years in the country on 5 acres and as much asi loved that and the beautiful house I got to build, hated the fact that nothing was close . I had to drive at least 30 minutes to get to halfway descent shopping.
Hi Holly, I’ve tried the PQM twice. So far I’ve not finished either of them. I like the second one better, so when I go on retreat in November, I’ll work on it again. The colors in your quilt are different. I can’t imagine how the finished quilt will look. I may try a small one again. Stay well. The hospital I go to for radiation has implemented masks again, mandatory in any of the cancer treatment areas. I wish Covid would just go away! River is such a doll. It’s nice to have a baby around. They give such joy. I keep hoping one of my Grandchildren gets married and starts a family before I croak. I need to stay alive another 10 years to finish raising Fiona. So maybe it will happen. Fiona is 170 pounds and quite a handful, but she is getting better at listening. I can handle her but need to be very firm. Give Dandelion a kiss from Fiona. It will be sloppy, but loving. City for sure. I love being ‘alone in a crowd’ if you get that. Love looking outside and seeing people walking up and down the street most times of the day and night. Love being able to walk to shops or just hop on a streetcar for a short distance. The idea of living in a remote area where I’d require a car to live gives me the heebie jeebies. Funny how we feel so strongly about what type of community we prefer. I also live a block away from Lake Ontario and near a giant park so there are lovely spots to walk.
The one thing about batiks once they get washed they are just normal cotton fabric. Hi I'm from Kansas but now live in Panama City Beach Florida! I am a quilter, long armer girl!!
I'm a country girl! Have had the opportunity to live in other countries, big cities and smallish cities, there is nothing like a quiet country sunrise or sunset.
City to many people too noisy, never lived in country so I’m in the Burbs!! Very pretty batiks, you will be fine after you tooth pull, with all of us sending prayers and healing to you. You will be a chatterbox right away! 🥰🤗❤️
Oh, I'm all for the country.. I've lived out here in the country for over 50 years. You couldn't get me to live in the city for all the tea in China. Sending Light and Love to Everyone. ❤🙏❤
Loved your moment of Zen. Have 2 little squirrels who visit my bird table every morning. I don't turn anybody away from the table. Birds and squirrels eat together on it. Am an introvert so it's the country for me. Right now, I live in a small development in the country. Too many neighbors. My idea of heaven is a farm with a stream running through and so quiet you can hear the animals grazing on the grass.
I live in the city of Cleveland, Ohio a few streets away from the shores of Lake Erie. My go to place for relaxation is Whidbey Island, WA. I’ve been fortunate enough to have taught at the Pacific Northwest Art School in Coupeville many times and it always feels like home. I made several good friends there. Meanwhile, Cleveland is not so bad. I wish you continued wellness. Christine Mauersberger

I hope your dental procedure goes well. You sure got a huge selection of batiks on this bargain haul. A fun project is sure to follow. I think I am more of a city person. We live in a suburb of Cleveland. I like being close enough to easily do museum and theatre excursions. We are trying to decide where we will retire and trying to balance quiet and access to groceries, doctors and pizza delivery. 😂
A friend from the Colordo mountains visited once; we wanted to take him out to a nice dinner. He asked for pizza delivery instead because where he lived he couldn't get it delivered. 🍕😄
City girl here! Lived in NYC for 15 years and loved it. We only moved to the burbs because we wanted our child to have a little more space to run around - you definitely have to value your pizza over your space in a big city haha
Country life and suburbs are my choice, as long as there is a quilt shop nearby. Right now I live a half mile from a combination chiropractor’s clinic and quilt shop. Life is good 👍🙂
I'm a country girl living in the city to be close to my kids and grandchildren. My favorite place is the mountains with lots of trees and a lake! I think your squirrel in the zen moment was stuffed. Lol. He didn't move a muscle! So cute. Good luck with the tooth pulling next week.
I Love batiks and truly love the fabrics. I am a retired single I think I would prefer living in the city because of the transportation, convenience of shopping and things to do (museums, theatre, parks etc. I lived in Manhattan for a bit ( a block from Central Park and American Museum of Natural History). I can't afford it now but I love the amenities of the city.
It’s a lovely batik bundle. They are very unique. I would love to live in the country but I live in the city. I love the convenience of its facilities. I think Tom is feeling more at ease being in front of the camera.

Love the moment of zen! Just a few tips. I know you have a bunch of tips down here in the comments already. I kept my color sheet in one of those plastic clue bags, and used the big round sticker they close the bags with to tape it onto the front right side of my sewing machine. I'd also go through the clue and make a list of all the HST units and do those first. It'd be like, "2 A>D, 2 C>D, 4 B>A" etc with the > showing which way I needed to press them. I did a large though, and it was a LOT of HST units. Finally, maybe use those little post it tabs they sent you to label your blocks. It will help at the end! I didn't sign up for this one because I was indecisive and both of the colorways I wanted sold out without restock. Looking forward to the spring PMQ though, and I will enjoy following along with you for this one. Your blocks look great!
I love the city, but prefer the country. I live in Midcoast area of Maine in the woods. My village in only a few hundred. I was happy here until they recently paved my road. 😢 With that said, I would prefer to live even further north in a cabin without anyone anywhere. I love living in nature.
