i graduated in july 2021 and havent really been drawing ever since, i actually kind of stopped drawing a little before graduating with the exception of assignments. ive been trying to get back into it for the past 3 years and its always been just kind of an "on and off" thing of desperately trying to draw, failing, giving up for multiple months and repeating the process. i recently spontaneously had the idea to apply to a uni to get a higher degree, as pursuing an art career has basically been something i settled on back in 2017, but having to relearn so many things is so frustrating. having to put together a competent portfolio within the next 3 months when ive completely unlearned how to do lineart and how to render pieces instead of just doodling and keeping my drawings as sketches is menatlly so stressful and frustrating to me and i feel handicapped by myself. having to relearn an entire medium i wasnt even decent at in the first place just because my laptop died in 2021 doesnt help either :( i have so much to catch up and improve on in such little time, it feels so overwhelming but ill just have to bruteforce it and teach myself to enjoy creating again. i just wish i could turn my creativity back on with a silly little light switch.
Can you change the size/starting position of an imported painting?? I haven’t been able to figure out how to do it without making the scaling/movement an animation. I want to scale/move it’s starting position before any animation takes place
i wrote a what would be described as an "Cute OC" but instead of using a different race or something that would look cute i straigth up used human bones and a lost soul to make the cutest goofy goober of my piece.
The layout borders are supposed to be a certain size in width. There is a specific standard in publishing world. You don't just randomly stick in white borders.
After drawing for about 6 years, I still had no improvement because I was finding my skills based on other artists. I understand the meaning behind, "Understand realism first" not because it's something all artists do- well, that's also true- but because it helps you understand fundamentals. If you try to learn from a stylized perspective, you'll only understand their solution, not what their ideas were based on. That's my way of seeing it, anyway. I deleted my collage of artists, and now, hopefully I can work on improving in my own way.
I like 2D animation because wings of book is still a popular series and my series is kinda in the anime animation style for it wont be a flop and not popular and there’s gonna be graphic novels first and then the movies and the shows
Just because you don't have them yet doesnt mean you never will. Laziness is usually a sign of exhaustion or a misalignment of motivation- I hope you find it!
@@CharacterDesignForge i been idk drawing for over 12 years I can do whatever i want and all outcomes will be radio silence Had moments with zero attention Had moments where once a year someone with big following retwitted that got hundreds or worse thousands of likes but in long term did no impact Thanks to deviantart i think i developed imposter syndrome but now DA became AI dumping ground so they kinda got what they deserve Currently dealing with minimal wage road construction job Should quitted 2 weeks ago cause 3 months testing passed and no interest for them giving me a rise But working conditions always finds a new low so 2-3 more months left and im out Planning to save for a new PC cause lenovo legion y520 entry level gaming laptop reached all its limits Learned video editing and its no different from drawing art Same commitment and effort demand just different process Lets see what happens next but theres no sun light in this tunnel
I'm developing the lore for a character I made a couple days ago and while I think the lore is really interesting, some part feels poorly written for some reason.
Absolutely correct! Breaking up the larger story into "phases," working first on the would-be "prequel" establishing the source of one or two important conflicts, redaction which you can revise later on as you've improved on the road, is what I arrived at naturally, and seems to be working.
Hi, so for me it's been nearly 4 or 5 years since I last drew. I studied animation and illustration at university and got so burnt out that I haven't drawn really since Today I listened to a song I hadn't heard since uni and I had a flood of emotions of the passion I had from back then, so I've decided to pick up a pencil. But then the analysis paralysis hit me and I didn't draw anything. Because draw what? This is why I found this video, and I'm so happy I did, thank you. Your mindset shift helped me, and give me permission to let myself be messy and rusty. And I liked your Nintendo prompt idea, I'm gonna go draw some game fan art to get me back into it :)
I stopped drawing for a year because I transfered online and recently, im enrolled back into an AP art class and im out of it. I felt like i lost my skill and I keep trying to make masterpieces because im a perfectionsist and its been so stressful, im glad i watched this.
This is a really nice tutorial! I’ve only been familiar with FlipaClip for like 5 years, and once I got procreate dreams, I was so confused! I’m still not sure how to activate drawing assist though, so it’s hard for me to draw shapes.
As an artist that's been in an awful state of artblock, but also an athlete, the first analogy really hit different. I've gotten myself through hitting slumps (I play a bat/ball sport) that have lasted weeks if not over a month. I can do this too.
Kind of true. But on the other hand the most important thing is having fun. If you are having fun develop your own art style by copying elements from others and loving it then just do it. If you draw or paint realisticly besides even better. I don't see a big problem in it.
Love your video ... I am trying to become a 2d animator .. but not traditional 2d animation 😅.. but rigged animation.. and trying to make my own character .. i really have no creativity when it comes to designing anything...
