Follow our family as we get back to our roots, carving out a portion of this 20 acre forest while developing a healthy and sustainable lifestyle and enhancing the natural habitat.
Additionally, we will be showing you anything that might be helpful or save you money in day-to-day life. We will have lots of DIY/How-to videos for you on topics around the home and farm.
We each pulled the permit for our respective home. In our area you are allowed to build your own home but then you are required to live in it a minimum of two years before you can sell. Thanks for watching!! Terry
@@wearezion216 yeah it makes a huge difference in how much home you can afford if you can do it yourself. In our case we are really not going bigger from the savings but rather using better materials on what we do plus for instance our floor joists are 2x12”. Our exterior walls and any supporting walls are 2x6”. Its gonna be all anyone needs and built to last far past our lifetime. Hopefully my grandkids can enjoy them. 😁 Terry
personally I use a bastard large file to remove the nicks and chips then for proper sharpening or honing use a wet stone covered in sewing machine oil it work great for me
I make my own axe puck out of a white corundum benchstone. I also smooth the edges on concrete until it fits into my peanut butter jar lid. Can't wait to add a 1000/6000 grit custom stone to my collection. Yes, definitely wear gloves when sharpening cold or masonry chisels. As part mason, I have to keep the chisel sharp for digging holes.
@@Realstranded I would think it’s likely bad but mechanics stay covered in grease daily. I was a mechanic when I was young for a couple years. Ate burgers with greasy hands almost daily 😂. Terry
I DON'T see anywhere in the Huber Advantech docs where glue is recommended on the T&G portion of the panel. Apol, I realize this is an old thread. Comments?
my bolts on that cover are cross threaded too. I have a leak on the left side . can't tell where the fluid is coming from but have not really dug into it yet. thanks for the tip
Yeah it is a rental however if you are insinuating we don’t treat every rental with the utmost respect then you are sorely mistaken. We are somewhat new to heavy equipment operations so yeah we do have a few things to learn. Thanks for watching! Terry
@@ForestToFarmI was mistaken about wall. It isn't brick it's 125 year old tile which people painted. I'd like to strip and keep that. But I have a metal cabinet hanging on wall above sink to left a bit. I was thinking of trying to hang sink with chains attached to that metal cabinet. What do you think of that idea?
@@RaeKae-ki5qh having not seen it its hard to say. Also I am not a tile expert. 😁. I have seen what you are talking about but I have no clue how strong it is. Maybe check with a local contractor that does remodel work. Good luck! Terry
The plates block the air flow when the valve is open. If the valve fails in the open position and you did not have the plates then you would have problems with that air flow. Thanks for watching and good luck!! Terry
As a retired electrician I've always wondered why people didn't just use a 1/2" EMT bender for bending conduit. I've collected a half dozen of them over the years. Hopefully people will pick up on this obvious "hack"!
Never knew this. Thank you. I just bought a special fitting to lock on to the fittings, but with this info I won't need it and can return it to Amazon.
I like your video. I wish we had enough clay in our soil to pour footers without forms. One thing to consider is not driving the vertical rebar into the soil. I worry about it carrying rot throughout the rest of the rebar.
Thanks. The grade stake rebar is not attached to the structural rebar. It’s been done this way for ages. Lots of controversy over it. Every contractor I know does it this way. Thanks for watching!! Terry
@@scottpenman7968 probably a good idea. When I do another footer I will likely form the footer. If I go the grade stake route I will use the fiberglass type. Terry
Great option. It’s long gone now. Honestly I wanted to use anti seize but did not have any. Needed to get it rolling because we were swamped with work. I since picked up a Husqvarna with hydro that runs great for $200!!! That old Craftsman had seen its better days. The motor started running very rough. The spindles were both worn to the point of squealing. Most of the safety stuff was failing. Leaked oil bad. It was not safe any more and was gonna cost a good bit to fix. Gotta say when it ran I used it like a bush hog and it never hesitated to chump things up lol. Thanks for watching!! Terry
As a helicopter pilot and having received road and track instruction, the most stunning and important concept which I still have to force is "Bucket, Not Machine" You have to only VISUALLY control the bucket and IGNORE what you feel in your seat. The machine will nearly NEVER indicate what is happening to the bucket and the earth you are shaping. ONLY watch the bucket. Also at 20 hours of owning a machine I thought I was "getting it" Not until 200 hours did I surprise myself "Whoa. I didn't even think about how to do it, it just happened from muscle memory"
Good info, thanks for the input. The problem with getting comfortable with time is it’s so easy to get relaxed and mess up haha. Thanks for watching !! Terry
I feel kinda dumb, went to grease my outboard steering, and only got grease coming out the side of the zerk fitting, 🤷🏼🤦🏼 knew something wasn’t right. Now I know! The more ya know right!
Ha ha. Based on the comments here and what people in the real world say you are not alone. 😁. Apparently we are all a little stupid lol. Thanks for watching!! Terry
I have this code, however, I was wondering what the symptoms that you guys are running into with the performance of the engine with this code present.?
Brian was lucky. The only thing it did was make a very obvious vacuum sound when you first started it. Then it would make a kind of sucking sound as the valve apparently closed. He has traded that truck on an F150. Thanks for watching!! Terry
@@ForestToFarm Thanks for the response, I ended up hustling having the wrong coupler on. The new gun I was using came with two and I commented this after only trying one of them. Thanks again for the info!
OK, so my question is if my truck is already throwing the codes because maybe the fan blades broke or something like that on the secondary injection pump can I run the bypass kit and it will not have to be properly fixed by ripping the engine apart still ?
The bypass is designed to trick the system into thinking it is working properly. That bypass kit, when installed as we fid, at least for us, made the truck run fine with no further issues. He has since traded it for a 2021 F150. Good luck!! Terry
I see it all the time on RU-vid in other parts of the country. Also pretty much every builder I know in this area does grade stakes this way. They were not part of or connected to the rebar system. They were grade stakes helping you keep the concrete pour level. Thanks for watching! Terry
Allow me to also echo the sentiments of many in the comments here not knowing this. But in our defense, do all standard grease gun hoses have an adjustable tip like you show? I'm away or I'd go check mine (it's old, red metal barrel) Is it possible for decades we didn't have those?
Every nozzle I have ever used had it to my knowledge. I have one from over 55 years go that adjusts so yeah they have been around for a while. Thanks for watching!! Terry
I don’t know if calculating “tons” would be accurate. Volume could vary depending on gravel type and size and if there is rock dust or not. Then moisture content especially during rainy seasons could greatly affect weight. I am no expert on this subject. 😁 Terry
