@@terryosullivan2620 So happy you found my stupid comment. I could not find it, after I realized I was wrong ! You are right, of course ! Chris White made the tours with DS. Michael Brecker (RIP) made the vinyl version and his brother, Randy, I think, made the CD version, as far as I know. I prefer Chris White, but I messed up the names. Thank you so much! Have a good night! From NET: "Who is the sax player in your latest trick? Michael Brecker Music. Randy Brecker played the trumpet intro on the CD version, but it is missing on the vinyl version. After that, there is a saxophone intro, played by Michael Brecker, who also plays the saxophone solo. Chris White played the saxophone part on the live version on the Brothers in Arms and On Every Street world tours ..."
yeah if you made a mistake ,just try it again. thats something i have learned from Bird. Bird has failed to connect double time phrases so many times but his solo is still flowing like stream
Quelle superbe transcription Max. Un vrai régal pour les oreilles. Merci de partager ton talent et ces précieuses ressources... On attend la suite avec impatience...
I say this regularly. This album, if you want to learn the blues, is actually the best source for saxophone players. Stitt's sound should be found in everyone's playing and this is a perfect example. Great transcription.
This is my favorite solo of all of Jazz solos. You can hear his playfulness and sense of humor when Sonny keeps hitting that F over and over. This was my first Rollins album and it still kicks my ass after fifty years. Thanks for posting this.
What note did he not know? Great performance I say, it pays to study and practice, you know the saying, practice makes perfect. I’m 71 yrs old have an alto sax, I’m a beginner, it’s ok tho, I’m doing it to please myself, that’s all that matters. Once again Scott Hamilton great performance.
By examining each note through the lens of music theory, I am just about convinced you could play this solo over numerous different changes and it would work fine. It's more melodic than harmonic to me.
Groovy! Amazing transcription. I'm still pretty new to this jazz thing, but is there a reason that you notated a Bb over a F#7 chord instead of A#? Keep up the great videos!
Hey man, thanks for the kind words. In this particular case of Bb over F#7 it Is a matter of taste. I guess many more jazz musicians prefer a Bb over an A# because you read it more often. In jazz you are not that picky considering accidentals as long as everything is easy to read (thats how I learnt and iterpret it) - altough there are certain rules when you notate longer lines (especially for Big Bands for example)
