@@mydimeisup5103 The shift farts will happen with this exhaust setup HOWEVER, the tune will dictate weather or not there are shift farts. You can get shift farts on a 100% oem setup with just a tune.
@@activemonkey7325 Got it thanks! The C7 vs C7.5 have different part numbers for the rear mufflers. Do you know of the differences and what part number mufflers you had?
Hey there. I followed your “setups” and figured something on my own. Cap test pipes > 200 cell metalic converters > muffler > x pipe > muffler > 2x valved mufflers. Everything at 2.5(63mm). I have 0 rattle, but at around 2000 rpm i have some weird deep sound. We may call it drone, but it is really deep, like resonance. Any idea around it?
Sadly i had to use the AWE tuning mufflers which are engineered to remove the drone. The vibration dampeners may help some, but it's hard to control the drone.
So does that mean its straight pipe from the midsection and just s7 mufflers? Or are the front resonators aka "Downpipes" off an s7 too? Cuz this sounds perfect
@@andrewczajkowski7001 The ECS x-pipe would work. I just had the local muffler shop chop out the mid muffler and weld in straight pipes. Then i welded on the rear mufflers.
@@activemonkey7325 I wonder how the X pipe will sound compared to your straight pipes. Do I have to do anything with the flapper modules on the exhausts or do they default to "open" ?
@@activemonkey7325 damn I appreciate the reply. I know these motors get raspy REAL quick. Ill take a look into this. factory is too quiet and I dont wanna get too loud
@@andrewczajkowski7001 If you can live with cats, you can do just about anything and it will sound ok. I really liked the sound with just a mid muffler delete. If you have to delete cats, it's a pain in the butt controlling rasp and drone.
Sadly for him, the Genises was tuned but the track prep was crap and we all had to lower our tire pressure to ~25-28psi. Add he wasn't the best at launching and he would spin pretty bad.
These videos have been a godsend for research. What part most helped the most with the drone? I personally love the sound of setup #10 and want to go for something similar but am a little worried about the drone
@@Shadxws the high flow catalytic converters made a big difference, but the AWE touring has some sort of acoustical magic. Hard to tell which one really did the most high flow cats were a huge improvement.
hey what’s up again man i’m actually going to go with this setup as week for the magnaflow x pipe and dyno max mufflers at least ..the cope and muffler fit good what all had to be done ? guessing they are all 2.5” inlet and outlets ?
is the rest of the exhaust stock and only test pipes? i can tell my cats are getting cooked and i was gonna go with canadian auto performance test pipes till i can get the full exhaust setup
Pretty much except it also has the center muffler deleted. I cannot express just how raspy and bad the drone was especially on the freeway. It was the worse sounding shit i've ever heard.
it’s also crazy that you’ve tried 13 different exhaust set ups haha what do you recommend i do to my exhaust for the best price i currently can’t afford the awe exhaust or any cat back for that matter
Hand down my favorite sounding was setup #2. Good sound, cheap and no drone. I only installed test pipes because i knew i was going stage 2+ and i put a ton of miles on the car so they would have failed sooner or later and wanted to save them should i need to smog. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pZ1bERflcZ8.html
@@activemonkey7325 okay it does sound great but probably hard to find a s7 exhaust where i live ..probably just going to delete the middle res and get some performance mufflers
@@devonbray-f9w The only reason i went with the S7 mufflers was for the quad tips vs the stock single trapazoid looking thing built into the bumper. hey probably sound the same.
@activemonkey7325 gosh, you sound like me... I only switched for the quad tip and realized how bad these drone. My Altima SE-R with dual Greddy exhaust had less running midrange drone than these.
Jackal tunes will work with aftermarket throttle bodies. Let them know which aftermarket throttle body you get, and they will make the tune work for it. Technically the jackal stage 2 e85 tune is for an upgraded upper pulley. I was previously dual pulley, and I really didn’t wanna have to put the stock crank pulley back on so I just did this. It works pretty well. I really can’t wait for Jack to come out with their dual pulley e85 but I think they’re having trouble with fueling.
@@activemonkey7325 ah i see that’s so dope that they can make a custom tune with the throttle body you know where i can find a throttle body? ..and how does that tune work with the upgraded crank pulley it doesn’t cut out ? and i thought they already had a dual pully e85 haha i guess that’s the stage 2 plus? i can’t wait either i heard 034 is making that tune as well
@@devonbray-f9w Sadly, no one has a stage 2+ e85 tune available for the crec motors. (Audi A6 & A7 2016-2018). The tune is setup to run with an upgraded upper pulley. It works pretty well with a stock SC pulley and upgraded lower pulley, but it's not perfect, but that is my fault not the tune's.
@@FUNNYVlDSyep, with the stage 1 tune plus intake it will get you to 400. Not sure in the video if he is tuned but a lot of people do the tune with the intake
Thank you, just be aware the drone will be there especially at 2000-2400 rpm going ~80mph. The best way i found to combat drone is to add some high flow cats to the downpipes. privatelabelmfg.com/collections/catalytic-converters/products/plm-power-driven-high-flow-performance-metallic-catalytic-converter
I'm looking into getting one of these how is the reliability on these things ? My parents have a q7 with the 3.0t motor it has 93k on it and they have been keeping up with just regular maintenance it seems like it's been holding up pretty well
Overall it has been great. The issues i have experience have come from my upgrading and pushing for more power then replacing worn or weaker parts. Motor mounts, fuel pump, O2 sensors, pretty normal stuff. I especially like 2016-2018 because it has both direct and port injection so you will never need to worry about carbon cleaning the valves. Overall great cars.
Can anyone please explain from the video how/where the power loss is identified/seen? basically how to read the speedo to know that there is a power loss
When shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear, the car would dump all boost and lose power. What i believe was happening is the TCU Tunes shift points were too close to the ECU Tunes Redline. Example: ECU tune runs to 7400 rpm, TCU shift point is 7400 RPM, but for a split second the engine exceeds 7400 rpm and dumps power to protect itself. The issue was resolved with i switched to IE's tune. I did run into this again when i switched to the Melen TCU tune (more aggressive than IE's TCU tune). The TCU tuner lower the RPM shift point slightly and the issue never came back.
That sound more like cracked flex pipe, i have this on my A7 around 1200rpm there is this sound as in video. You can hear it when your rev the engine and leet go then around 1200rpm you have this sound.
I thought of that and later wrapped both flex pipes in heat wrap to see if the noise was coming from them, but it made no difference. I went to an exhaust shop a few days later, and they confirmed it was the resonators which had debris inside of them. Cut them out, replace them with something else, and the problem was instantly gone.
Hey im currently in south america brazil and I own one A6 3.0 supercharged 2015 here. My question is on this setup did you just cut off those big middle muffler and the two on the back and replaced with this vibrant 1792 resonator to achieve this sound! let me know please i really liked how this car sounds.
You’re correct. The middle muffler was replaced with the small resonators, and the rear mufflers were deleted and pipe and tips installed. Please be aware that this will cause drone in the car.
Btw, hands-down the best sounding setup I’ve had is my #2. Great clean sound on the outside with no drone on the interior. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pZ1bERflcZ8.htmlsi=sl3yinVKkhNj2alb
I knew it was going to sound like shit and the muffler setup was changed the very next day. Test pipes were necessary as i couldn't risk melting or destroying the OEM cats. Even with all the factory mufflers i'm pretty sure this would have sounded like shit. The OEM cats to the lords work at controlling rasp and drone.
It sounds better then what I hear most people cat delete sounds like ! If you wanna kill a chunk of the raspy sound I heard the magnaflow 11385 resonator is great for it
I think running two big 12568's and some longer tips like 3.5x12 or 3.5x18, rolled edge or resonated would also help. High flow cats was a decent move, but I think the combination of as much muffling that you had before was bad, and also losing the second X was bad. Get the GESi cats, instead, do the J-pipe Helmholtz resonator thing, and try longer tips that are a tiny bit resonated and I think you'll be set. If you need MORE muffling after that, look into a universal valved system like from Valvetronic or Varex.
Look into a Helmholtz resonator aka a J-pipe. One pro tip to keep in mind is that once you figure out the required length and diameter for them, you need to place them as close to the header collector as possible.
