Welcome in guys, if your a fan of music and real reactions this is your place, this is where I give my honest opinions of the music we all love. So jump in enjoy the ride and lets rock and roll!!!
I'll say it again every single time I hear these things. I love her sound and I love that they're moving on but they need to actually move on quit letting her sing Chester's songs. Either keep them purely instrumental or stop playing them all together and move forward.
Vocally, there have been one constant in Amaranthe, and that's Elize, the male singers have been more fluid. This is their second clean male singer, and their third "screamer". They've also had 4 other temporary vocalists between male singers, while touring. Try Hunger, and The Nexus, for the Elize, Jake E (Joacim), and Andy (Andreas) setup. Digital World, and Drop Dead Cynical, will change to GG6 (Henrik) on harsh vocals. Then you could do Archangel, and Boom!1, for the change on clean vocals to Nils. Other tracks with the current setup with Mikael on harsh vocals; The Catalyst, and Insatiable.
I first heard this band on The Charismatic Voice when Elizabeth did an R&A of the band's song "Amaranthine". Intrigued I bought their album "Maximalism", first time taking a dive into metal with harsh vocals. Pretty interesting actually. Any of those songs should interest you but I don't know how many have videos. "Amaranthine": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D8lV1To-_fU.html
The videos from this performance really capture what Ale's bass sounds like in person -- just without the pounding vibration through your body! When I saw them in Dublin in July, Ale's bass totally shook the venue to its foundations! It was awesome, especially on Sharks!
I don't think solos are really Dany's thing. She says she'll do them when the songs needs one, and only if it fits the song.. like not shredding just to shred. She also never uses a whammy bar... because that's also 'not her thing'.
Amaranthe has a very unique sound. I usually call it Europop metal, just to give it a name. They have 3 lead singers. Elize Ryd is the female singer She has a fantastic range. She was one of the 2 singers who covered for Annette in the infamous Nightwish Denver Debacle. She had auditioned for NW before Annette and knew some of the songs. Nils Molin is the clean tenor singer and Mikael Sehlin sings the harsh vocals. No one singer in the band is "the lead". They usually take turns, which gives them their different sound. Their drummer, Morten Løwe Sørensen, recently married Ad Infinitum singer Melissa Bonny. Other songs to listen to...Archangel, Damnation Flame, and Boom!1. Boom!1 is great because it is dominated by the harsh vocals. It was sung by their previous harsh vocalist, GG6. One other song to listen to would be their collab with Sabaton doing the Sabaton song 82nd All The Way, live from The Great Tour in Oslo.
It's great to see you checking out Amaranthe, the spearhead of 'Modern Metal'. The three vocalists are very unique. Check out the official music video for 'Damnation Flame', where they introduced their new harsh vocalist in quite a special way 😉. Great video for an awesome track. Fun fact: Elize Ryd, their female singer, filled in together with Alyssa White-Gluz on vocals on the Nightwish tour in North America in 2012, as Nightwish couldn't continue with Anette Olzon, and before Floor Jansen could join them... Greetings from Germany, Prog O'Holic
Just a beautiful song. Heard this was the first song Tuomas wrote after his father passed. Last track on the album, the song ends with the film winding down sound. The first track starts with a film winding up sound.
Another poster (don’t remember name off top of my head) had mentioned about the mirrored image being a reference to Janus …looking both backwards and forwards which I found extremely interesting and wish I’d thought about that when watching this video the first time. This is such a beautiful song …the orchestration was perfect and the piano is wonderful and Floor’s voice is just sublime.
Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad I guess.
The band's vocalist Noora Louhimo has actually covered Guns N' Roses, particularly Sweet Child o' Mine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xNoUldykJqE.html
This song is written by Tuomas, as a ode to hes Father that passed away in 2021, Floor sings absolute beautiful on this, and Troy joining at end, perfect!! I lost my Father 6 years ago, and my mother 5 years ago, listening to this, will bring me memories of them, and a song of sadness, beauty and hope at same time, its a song i would consider a masterpiece, love it!! This was the first song Tuomas wrote for the new album Yesterwynde
