Hi Jochem. 16 boxes are occupied so room for another 9 pairs. I reckon about we've got around 7- 8 prospectors so might get another pair or two if we're lucky.
@@janeglanville3179 Fingers crossed! It always takes a while before a pair gets to know the way to the same box. I have two new pairs this year that are going through that struggle at the moment. At the front of the house, 10 out of 11 boxes are occupied now. Gable boxes 5 out of 15 and at the back 3 out of 9. It's getting quite busy, haha!
you are so lucky to have these lovely birds. i have 4 swift nest box's up at the moment but sadly no swifts in them. i don't have a swift caller so do you know how i can attract swifts to my nestbox's
Beware of the badger! They are partial to eating hedgehogs if other food is scarce. Hedgehogs naturally avoid them if they can, but the badger is very strong and can uncurl a hedgehog and eat the soft underparts, only leaving a shell with prickles.
That’s a hungry fox, when I had a garden I used to leave out two raw chicken pieces, thigh/leg, he would check them both, take one back to the female, return and eat the other in the garden. Badgers love peanut butter sandwiches, looks like with all 3 you’ve got all the magic🎉thanks for the video. Oh ive just remembered, put out fresh water too..
Hope it makes it in the big wide skies once it fledges! I dread to think how many European swifts will have perished because of the intense Mediterranean heat this summer.
Wow-some great prospecting activity going on here, how amazing! There'll be plenty of nests there soon Edit: I read this mornings blog and it's amazing there's those nests in a new build house. Why they don't build them all like this is beyond me
