This channel is dedicated to bunkers, fortifications and megastructures of Great Britain and Europe, in World War One and World War Two time frame. I will try and explain to you what i am looking at, and a description, and some history behind the place. i will also visit museums and events. Thanks for watching. PS. I am not an historian, or expert. I`m just an enthusiast, who has a passion for our past history, during this time frame.

@@godszymek5531 ok. Thanks szymon. I was great meeting all three of you yesterday. I will put pictures of all of us on my facebook page later on. Ill will tag you in them 😁
Hi Paul. Its an interesting event. Plenty of stuff to purchase, thats if you are interested in that type of memorabilia. You can get both Axis and Allied stuff
Hi Fan. The only people that i know who collect memorabilia like that are usually re- enactors or lemmy ( motorhead) lol. Stuff like that doesn't interest me. I mainly collect reference books to get more info on sites that i visit. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
@@paulwee1924dus hi paul. I have filmed on the ludendorf bridge but not put anything together yet. Im travelling in germany and then poland now. Ill sort that footage that i have when i get home in August 😊
@@fanroche8573 i wasnt sure who that statement was aimed at. My intro came from the overloon web page, and it didnt mention anything to do with the Canadians. Maybe he was directing it at the dutch himself. I wont know until he comments again 😊
@@bunkersfortificationsandme7688 Hi that is fair but it seemed personal. Ultimately Canada would fall under the allies. There are too many nations for you to identify in a short piece - and I'm a very patriotic Scot :)
Windy out there on the bay. It was very interesting to see the scale of the construction. I never though to much about repairing or upgrading uboats before.
Yes, the pens are massive indeed, and worth a visit. If i could redo the filming now, then ive since got mics that would cut out the wind. 😁. Thanks for watching and commenting
Hi Fan. That must have been heart rendering For your dad Mate. Longest running campaign throughout the war, and so many lives lost to keep us from starving😢
By the way . I Have marked FdU West of Pignerolle for a visit, but not this year. I am going to explore Poland. That place looks very interesting indeed.
Hi Billy, just been going through some of your video, and all are excellent. Look forward to meeting up when I'm back in the UK. So sad to see your Lee and Dad being mentioned, i also miss them very much, as they were both part of my life. Come to see me in Singapore, as i live so close to many of the battle fields here, Dairy Farm is only a short walk, and was a major battle ground against the Japanese. Look up Bukit Timah, Dairy Farm, and you will see what i mean. See you in the summer.
Hi vaughan. We are both fans of war history and ive got quite a lot of this history on this channel. Im away from 22nd may until near the end of july. Hopefully your still in the UK when i get home. AND we are coming to your house in Bali when its finished, so hurry up 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
Interesting video, thank you for sharing this. The 380 mm Reinmetal weapon you described sounds like what they mounted on the Sturmtiger. It was an infrantry support vehicle designed to level buildings.
@@joelex7966 Hi Joe. I accidently posted the reply to you before i finished it, so i will start again. I did a bit more research on Rheinmetall after i posted the video. One of the weapons that they did build was the MG42, but the company got bogged down by nazi bureaucracy. And it does appear that German workers appeared to be `kind` to the slave workers ( testimonies in the attached clip ) i should be going into Poland this year, and I'm sure that one area that I'm going to, is where they tested the Rheinbot missile. thsnks for watching and commenting 🙂 www.rheinmetall.com/en/company/history/125-years-rheinmetall/years-1936-1945
Hi Billy, I was wondering as I have your site in my favourites. So sorry to learn of your family losses. What a sad time for you all. Keep doing what you are doing with love from Glasgow x
Would you consider upgrading to 4k? Many of these places are on the verge of falling down or declining, and your video may be some of the last of these places in demonstrable condition. A panasonic lumix can be had used quite affordably.
They are shot in 2.7k. Ive just upgraded my computer to i7 so that should handle the footage better. At present, the movies that im putting together will be 2.7k. Until i get into poland this year then ill try 4k. Ill probably need another HHD or get a SSD drive aswell to take the bigger files. In the mean time ill experiment with the 4k settings and do some experimental footage to render 😊
@@bunkersfortificationsandme7688 Belgium has been a pon in a game of chess unfortunately. I live in the south of the Netherlands. 10 miles west and I am in Belgium, 3 Miles east and I am in Germany. History is a bit of a hobby and went through different eras. The era 1870-1914 and 1918-1939 I so far find most interesting. Though I do not mind visiting a castle 😃
@@michelvondenhoff9673 yes, its an hobby for me aswell. Belgium has been a walkover for the Germans in both world wars. Now that we are all friends then its much better. I love europe and especially ypres. Im hoping to travel into poland this year. 🙏 😊
@@bunkersfortificationsandme7688 Ypres I have visited twice. The museum in the 90's I found better than current Flanders Fields. My recommendation is the Passchendaele museum in Zonnebeke. Poland has been ran over and in and out of existance as a country over time as well... People one on one regardless of nationality I think can talk and work things out. Governments...😉
@@michelvondenhoff9673 ypres is a special place for us Brits, especially at 8pm every night ❤️. Im off to poland to look at what the Germans left behind. There is loads of things to look at 😊
Great to see you're back! As always, great content! Btw: Funny moment at 11:14, when you opened that hatch, a voice with a very East Berlin accent (the guide?) says: "Warum is det hier? Damit Sie det nich aufmachen." Which means, "Why is that here? So that you don't open it." Pobably referencing the sign that says "Do not enter" 😂
Hi Mojambo. Yes, no one wanted to open that lid. Its lucky that i dont speak or understand east or west german otherwise i might not have opened it 😁. The guide did have a go at me earlier on, because i was lagging behind.🤣. Thanks for your comments and also watching 😊
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your family members Billy. I hope that your memories will guide you in your future endeavors making life much better. May your father and son rest in peace. Your videos are one of my favorite sites to visit and I look forward to seeing more of you.
Hi Billy, sorry to read of your loss of family members. It's always a shock whether it's expected or comes out of the blue. There's no words that will make it any easier to accept their passing but all we have is to think of all the good times shared with them. Another good video, have to say, I have never heard of these 'winkel towers' before . Richie
Hi Richie. Thankyou for those kind words. Its not easy carrying on with the videos but im finding that it helps me cope with bereavement, and i know my son and dad would want me to do that. Many thanks for your comments and watching the video 😊
My family bought direct from the War Ministry at the end of WW2 named Q tower on Felixstowe Suffolk. This tower is inusuall in that it was dug deep 6:19 into the cliff that run along the sea front so had a dry moat almost the height of the martello tower itself An Uncle dug out the thick walls by hand using hammer and chisel , a long job for sure
Yes its an enormous building. This building along with la coupole and valentin bunker will. Always stay with me. Thankyou for watching and commenting 😊
Morning fred. That's a fair slog to get there. If i remember those events, which where called 'raves' ?. No doubt fond memories for you 😊. Thanks for watching and commenting . 😊
You present this structure as a V2 launch building. This is the view of some but not all. You likely noticed that the inside was a small space compared to the building outside. The idea of erecting a V2 with odd floors in the way and no actual doors to cart them to the launch pads should have been obvious. In actual fact, we do known that there were facilities and evidence of the manufacture of liquid oxygen found when the Americans entered the area. But, we really don’t know what the Germans intended this massive structure to be. No paperwork has ever been publicly disclosed to show why, even under heavy bombing and mobile rocket launchers the accepted norm, the Germans continued to work on the structure almost to the day it was captured. If it wasn’t a V2 launch site…… what was it, really? Visit Lost Battlefields with Tino Struckmann to see his tour of this facility and witness his reaction to it. Best wishes
All of the documentaries/books including the owner base this as a V2 rocket launching site. I've watched Tino`s videos on other places and he can be very good. He says that he is an historian and I'm just an enthusiast. I have no access to any archives which I'm assuming Tino does. Any info that I have is from books or documentaries that I've watched or read. The place is fascinating though. And I suppose until anyone come up with any concrete evidence then this place will be seen as a possible V2 site. If you haven't visited the site yourself then i suggest that you go, and then make your own conclusions. Cheers 🙂
You dont know what youre saying , they never build or launch anything from that place , till today nobody can say for sure what they intend to do there
Correct, they never launched anything from there because it was bombed before it was finished. And where in the film did i say that anything was launched from there ? And it was intended for V2 launches. Have you actually been there yourself ???
Graffitti can be very disrespectful, and i put it down to people who dont know the history ( or dont care ) of the place that they are visiting. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
