I have a Duromax Dual Fuel 12000 W - I'd not used it until Hurricane Beryl hit Houston. It was brand new, and followed the start up instructions. When I plugged it into my house's interlock kit, and I started turning on a few breakers, inside I could smell burning. It fried many of the electronics on the lines I turned on. After the hurricane I had everything tested. It turned out the Generator was only putting out 153 when it should have been 240, causing the surge I'd experienced, frying many of the items in my house. Please test these before hooking it up to your house. Now I have a huge paperweight because I won't cause tens of thousands in damage to my house again.
Why no sediment trap at the quick connect? Seems like it would be a good idea since the generator will potentially run for days and you won't always be out there to look after it.
@@DuroMaxPower Well, that's good enough for me. I am definitely going to put one on my upcoming install. I haven't seen any sediment traps at the quick connect at the meter on any of these RU-vidr's videos. It's just an extra $10 in parts for peace of mind.
Familiarize yourself with the manual, follow all maintenance schedules and this unit will last you a long time. Use standard conventional oil for break-in of 8 hours placing various loads on the unit, change the oil to a nice synthetic and you'll be good to go.
During the initial break in, is it required that I hookup the electric and power the house or can I simply connect the Natural Gas and let the generator work without a load? ,
How come 10 or so years ago I went to to the expense of having a transfer switch next to the breaker box put in when all you have to do is have that interlock on the box? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Based on your video the generator ran for a total of 144 hrs. what is the break in hrs. for this generator for its first oil change? I have heard you should turn off the generator to give it a break then run it again. Just curious.
First oil change needs to be done at the 8 hour mark, we recommend standard conventional oil for break in. Then switch to a good synthetic and oil changes will be at the 100 hour mark when the Generator is being used occasionally. When running it continuously for this kind of time we recommend changing the oil at 50 hours.
DuroMax portable generators will output an average total harmonic distortion (THD) rating of about 5% under steady loads and may increase under heavy or fluctuating loads to 12% temporarily for less than a few seconds.
is that your only source of power or rather a backup? I’m not too knowledgeable on how much power a very expensive generator can produce but DAMN that is A LOT
This is cool and all, but I hope you can restock on generators. Especially high output tri fuel. Hoping by the time I can get one, you will have a tri fuel inverter. I need at least 10k running watts on natural gas to run my house, but the more the better!
You mentioned its runs in a raceway, after you drilled the hole, what did u insert for the wire to go through, and/or whats the connector on the panel where the wire first went through also, looked like a bushing?
question on this model how well does it do with sensitive electronics... laptops.. LED Tv's... new refrigerators... gaming console .. you always here about THD and generators make to much for sanative electronics
Where can I see ur breaker panel? How long can this last? If power goes off a month, am I good bc my home is a tiny home. No washer, water heater is propane. Biggest pull, apartment size Frigidaire Refrigerator. I rarely run a 5000 but small ac. Most lamps are USB ran bulbs. If you answer, Thank you, I need this on hot days. Tennessee has been wout rain until last week. Many days over 90. I thank you, tons!
One of our DuroMax Inverter Generators would be an excellent choice. In addition to being more quiet, and fuel efficient we imagine it would be perfect.
It's a great informative video! I just bought a Duromax XP9500iH. My electrical panel has bonded neutral and ground wires. Should I make any electrical alterations to install a 50-amp outlet?
Duromax generators has my vote. I’m out here in Houston Texas and we lost power during Hurricane Beryl for 6 days. My generator (13000HX) ran for 6 days straight with no problems. I have an inlet so I was able to power my entire house.
