Hi, despite Loughborough not being a part of the Russel group, we have ranked in the top 10 in the UK for consistently over the last few years so I can assure you that many employers are aware of Loughborough's impressive reputation. Additionally, we have a very useful careers network with many connections the university has established (www.lboro.ac.uk/services/careers/)
A more than interesting video, watched just to see how much Lugaboro has changed and expanded since I graduated in …..1972 🤗. I was an Aero student , Industry based, 1 term out, 3 terms in, for 4 years. In Preston/Warton I had a terrible time finding digs until I landed on my feet with an elderly couple in Freckleton. I mention this because I was in Faraday for all my time at Loughborough . Fully catered . Couldn’t cook then and I’m not much better now, with rooms cleaned daily. It was fantastic . Music ….Marvin Gaye, Nights in White Satin, drifting through the village constantly and trips in the evening to the Purple Onion to socialise over a coffee and burger. Most of my friends were in Hall and over in Cayley. I joined the YHA group because I knew immediately I was going to have a great time , but that I’d need to escape from time to time to recharge my batteries. I regret not studying harder, but came away with a 2/2 and 2 years learning to fly in the UAS, improved my guitar playing and learned to play the Northumbrian Pipes. I became a chartered engineer in general engineering but retrained after 10 years and enjoyed a career as an airline pilot. Regrets….didn’t learn to sail in the Sailing Club, but I became an honorary member after recording Capt Pugwash on my concertina for their uni radio program. PS. Faraday was next to the golf course 🙈🤗
Despite me not knowing much about Glasgow I can certainly vouch extremely highly for Loughborough. Personally, I had an amazing time and certainly could not have asked for a better university experience to grow both as an academic and as an individual.
@@jamiepaulclark I'm looking forward to go Loughborough University this sept 24 and actually it's more over like a gut instinct but there is set of challenge I am currently facing as I am not even cleared of my most of the steps and not even yet applied for an visa so it's very stressful but hopefully I clutch it in time !
@@jamiepaulclark thank You I actually loved the way you Put so much of efforts in letting each detail be known and I am so much grateful coz it's my dream uni and yes I'm very excited about coming to loughborough wish I have a wonderful time there
I just randomly stumbled across this video after looking at some of your Loughborough content, but this stuff your doing right here is impressive. I don’t know the details too much of where this is located or what your doing right now, but being so young, traveling away from home, documenting your story and bringing smiles to these children. I just really respect what you’re doing. I hope you’re reminded that your impacting the world in a positive way, keep it up buddy. I hope to be like you in some aspect, one day when i grow older! :)
Thank you so much for your wonderful message! I'm thrilled that you found my video and enjoyed it. Your kind words mean a lot to me. Traveling and documenting these stories has been an incredible experience, and knowing that it resonates with people like you is truly rewarding. I hope my journey can inspire others, just as your support inspires me to keep going. Thanks again for your encouragement and best wishes - it really does make a difference and honestly means so much to me! 😊
There are some fancy dress shops in Loughborough's town itself which your committee will give you guidance on where to if you are struggling. Alternatively, you can go to any fancy dress store or Amazon. Hope this helps.
Hi, I know some people who have chosen to do this if they like to play PC games or have brough a monitor and a console. Ultimately, it is personal preference but I did not choose to do so.
Hi, these are the usual term dates www.lboro.ac.uk/students/welcome/when-you-get-here/term-dates/. Over the Christmas period the university has restricted hours but is open still for most days to support any internationals who are staying over the Christmas period.
Im going to Loughborough university in October 2024 . I'm a postgraduate student and its going to be my first time in the uk overall! A bit nervous but excited!
Hi, the ethnic diversity is actually quite good at Loughborough. There are many societies and associations ranging from diverse backgrounds. (lsu.co.uk/societies/list & lsu.co.uk/welfareanddiversity/list) From my experience the gender split in dorms was approximately 70:30 for Men:Woman
Wow Jamie! What an encredible work, young man! This is the most horrific and from the other side the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my lifetime about Elephants. It shows how different humans can be. Kudos to the whole team of people who speak out for them, care for them! 🥰🙏🏼
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm truly honoured by your response. It means a lot to me and all those working to highlight this issue to know that our work has resonated with you so deeply. Elephants are incredible creatures, and we are committed to raising awareness about their plight and celebrating their beauty. Your support and encouragement inspire us to continue our efforts. Thank you again!
Would recommend Harry French lodges, cheaper than courts cause you get a single bed but the kitchens are way better and there's not silverfish (problem with them in some ground floor Harry French courts places, the accom is split into lodges and Courts on opposite sides of the road) Placement means shopping is really easy and you can Walk like 10mins onto campus to get the free bus from opposite the union to wherever you want to go. Had a good time there, recommend.
I got Loughborough University for Fall 2024 in MSc Artificial-intelligence, is it good uni to pursue? And how about the job placement there? I also applied to University of Southampton..
Hi, Loughborough University is a really good university to pursue. There are lots of employability opportunities at Loughborough and we have a very useful dedicated careers network who can help securing placements. Please see this link for further information: www.lboro.ac.uk/services/careers/
Hi, you get access to library and STEM building as part of being a student. The only thing you have to pay extra for is gym memberships which you can find here: www.lboro.ac.uk/sport/memberships-prices/
Loughborough University is located in the town Loughborough which is in the borough of Charnwood which is in the county of Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England.
Thanks for this throwback. I spent my semester abroad in Loughborough, and the town and the campus are forever in my heart. I see some new places obviously, but most of it is so familiar. The food stores, The Amber Rooms… We loved the food in Moon and Bell, we went to the Odeon Cinema to see The Queen. Then the train station, from which we would go to Nottingham, Derby etc. And the Students’ Union - it would close the night with the Baywach theme. I wonder if it is still the case:)
Thank you for your comment and sharing your experience during your time at Loughborough! It is always great to connect with alumni and here such stories! All the best.
Hi, thank you for your comment. The town is slightly quieter here than usual as this video was filmed during the summer holidays; thus, most students had left to go back home at this point.
Hello loved the video its great, can you recommend places to get part time jobs at Loughborough or nearby towns as i recently joined Loughborough for my masters in mngt at Loughborough. Thanks in advance.great video
Hi, thank you for your comment. There are plenty of part time job opportunities, such as becoming a Student Ambassador (See here for my guide on how to become a Student Ambassador: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YN-WL_vsvuM.html) as well as several opportunities for work in the town in Loughborough itself such as working in supermarkets & pubs among other opportunities. I hope this helps. All the best.
Hi, yes Loughborough's MSc in International Businees is a very good course and is highly recommended by some of my peers who study the course at Loughborough. For further information on why you should consider choosing Loughborough to study MSc International Business please see here: www.lboro.ac.uk/schools/business-school/study/masters/
Don't know whether you'll see this but I was just wondering what takeaways you can recommend! I move in on Wednesday and would love to know your recommendations.
Hi, hope you had a successful move in day! Some of the takeaways & resturants that are popular options are Public & Plants, Baobab Cafe, Tarboush & Fat Buns are just a few from the top of my head. All the best, Jamie
