One of my favourite views anywhere. I've been wondering for a while if the climbers' cave was still there, or if the wall had fallen down. So good to see it intact. Thanks Ken for taking me there again.
Brilliant Ken! (I knew where you were going.) 😉 Some views them arent they mate! And you even found the cave.. theres usually a little tub with pens and paper in it for you to sign and write a message in.. dont know if it was still there. 👍
@@FeralFrolics you were right it was challenging but worth it, went off course for a short while then found the cairns, but what views,as for the cave didn’t see any pen n paper so I used a piece of stone 🤣crossing back over to chew was a lot easier going back ,will definitely be returning 👍
@@atrampinthehills.841 thanks Steve , was good to be out, just to clear my head, lots going on at the minute with work , decorating, gardening, just not enough hours in the week 🤣
We were talking about doing another walk from Dovestones up to Chew Valley. Last time made it to Chew Res but no further. Very boggy as you say. Nice your route Ken. Recognised Indians Head too, you had a good view. Lovely film Ken. Enjoyed your commentary. What camera are you using? is still your mobile? Very good shots.
@@CountrysideWalking thanks shanita, still using the phone for my vlogs although I do have a camera at hand, also got the inshot app on my phone so makes it easier to edit.
Nice one Ken.. so you gave that route a go then. Yeah, as you get further along Chew Res, it does begin to feel desolate and a tad eerie.. when we first explored that way, we just went a bit further over a couple of walks, and then you get familiar and before you know it, youre stomping your way to Laddow Rocks, the Pennine Way, Featherbed Moss and the rest! Brilliant mate.. all the best on ya next one. 👍
A while since I was up that way, but I never tire of seeing it again - and the path over to Laddow.Lost count of the number of times I've roamed all over that way an along the tops. Good to see familiar routes again.
@@michaeldenham9681 goin to venture to laddow rocks next week hopefully Michael, starting in carrbrook village, upto the old Roman fort on buckton castle, over to alphin, onto chew res then take the path to laddow rocks.
@@FeralFrolics ya know me , owt for nowt🤣, they have this festival every year and it just seems to get better n better, get ya selves over here next year, lovely camp site, pub just up the road, win win situation 🤣
It's in Tring near the Chilterns i think they probably called it Chillfest after the Chilterns. Mark Almond headlining they also have Go West Heaven 17 Nik Kershaw there.
Great video Ken , the visuals were stunning , I think I'm gonna go Yeoman Hey next time I'm that way , looks so much more my cup of tea than Dovestones which can get very busy these days. Best wishes
Some lovely shots on your route Ken with some lovely music choices too. Can't go wrong with Dovestones/Greenfield reservoir locations to film. Pleasant to watch.
Thanks shanita, it really is a lovely area but dovestones does seem to get a bit crowded from time to time, that’s why I visit yeoman hay and greenfield reservoirs, lovely whatever the weather.
Thanks shanita, just using my phone for pictures and filming at the moment, not sure if you and Michael have done the walk from millbrook to swineshaw through the stalybridge country park.
Cheers pat, really is a lovely area and so quiet at that time of evening 8.30 ish, spare of the moment thing but wasn’t to bad as it is literally on my doorstep 👍
Nice video , good to see you get up there. Its only been public access land since 2004 so, that's why there are no clear established trails up yet , You do tend to get it to yourself though. Best wishes 👍
Great video Ken , the track up is near where you were at 1.43 I think , it is a very faint narrow track only about a foot wide a lot of the time but well worth following it up.
Id definitely give it another go at getting to the little cairn at the top Ken.. wonderful 360 views from a different perspective! It is a tad tricky getting through the first bit of bracken though. I see they've been burning the heather up there too, for the grouse. 👍
Well if it helps mate, we go up from the part you were at with the broken bit of wall beside you. The heather is thick at the beginning but if you do aim for that stake you could see, it does flatten out as you get up and then it is easier at the top. All the best buddy. 👍
Cheers Steve, was lookin out for ya🤣was gonna go upto the pike but the dog didn’t like the bracken, plus there was no set path, will do it in the near future minus the dog.
