Subbed! Thank you as I need to learn how to replace tubes and work on my amps as few techs exist where I live and the few amp techs are too busy to even return my calls.
Just curious does anyone know if this helps the headroom with using a boost? and allows for a little more gain? I've noticed that when boosting and trying to use like a "metal" amount of gain it gets very thuddy and the tone gets choked out. I've found you can kind of workaround this by turning up some gain on the boost and then turning down the gain on the amp itself, but you know, it would be nice to use the gain more on the amp just because it sounds good before it gets weird lol.
Is it difficult to send an amp from Europe to Australia for modding and getting it back, or do you even have the time to mod anymore amps, I guess you are a very busy man with your talent. ;o) 🐅
Would it be possible to bias the EL34's hotter by just plugging in a lower value cathode resistor, like 120r? Sorry if this is a silly question, new to all this :')
Still have the Origin 2204. Thinking of making the non boosted side a pseudo pushed clean? Doing that now with my Helix and compression + a negative volume block.
It’s BS a national icon brand like Marshall would even remotely do this. I’m all for far-east manufacturing, and cost adjustment-IF it’s passed onto the consumer. Hell I even play an Epi Prophecy as my main guitar and it’s a Chinese made guitar. Love it. But it also wasn’t the same price as its Gibson Custom equivalents. Glad I opted for an origin 50 before I snagged a 2203x.
Hello! I am going to get around to doing the mods to my Original 50H in the fall, meantime, would there be any benefit to swapping out the stock MV for a PPIMV? Or adding the PPIMV in addition to stock? Cheers!
Used to have the 100 half stack of this re-issue back in the late 90’s/early 2K’s. Wish I still had it but without a decent job, the bills come calling 😢
Thinking about all the costs reduction they made in the amp, I would first undo these reduction costs by changing all the cheap parts in to real quality ones... mods... maybe include a clean channel and a spring reverb... maybe.
My TSL60 hums like hell. All English made Dagnal transformers. If you are reading this i have a question. I would love to upgrade my transformer to get rid of the hum but what transformer should i get? does it have to be an exact match?
If too much gain, put a 5.6k or 10k resistor in series with the .1uf clipper cap and leave the 470k/470p peaker alone. If still too bright, add 220pf to 390pf on the NFB. I call it "Slash-Lite" Feels like having a mild Klon boost permanently on, which is what many do anyways.
