I think you should be so proud of yourself for working hard on the honey vest! And I hope you treat yourself to a few cast ons!🤭 thank you for another wonderful video
Rebecca, huge congrats for finally finishing the vest! It looks gorgeous on you and watching your perseverance with the various challenges was truly inspiring!
Marking my repeats with stitch markers has been a game changer for me. Even if I have the pattern memorized, I still make mistakes and need to frog back every once in a while.
What a beautiful knit! The colour combination is 🤩 Thank you for speaking about unspun yarn. I couldn't decide between manchelopis and Plötulopi and your opinion has been very helpful 💜
I have to say that you have a lot of perseverance to have finished that vest!!! 😁 I’m not sure I would’ve made it through. I might’ve just rolled that yarn back up and started a new project! But it is super cute on you and you definitely should keep it and enjoy it since you worked so dang hard on it.😂
Thank you!! It’s definitely one of my most challenging knits and now a statement piece for me ☺️ and now onto this colourwork sweater which hopefully won’t be too much of a struggle haha
I am in awe of your persistence with the vest! Whenever I make a mistake I have a really hard time recovering my drive for the project so that was amazing to me. I can’t wait to see your colourwork sweater take shape, all mohair seems like a daunting knit!
I also made the mistake of using two different dye lots with a black yarn. Unfortunately, it was soooo obvious to see in the finished garment. I wouldn’t recommend it 😬❤
I have quite the list for my fall knitting… though I’ve made a decent dent already. I made 3 beautician sweaters by petite knit for my girls and my niece, I currently have a Chicane by Brooklyn tweed on my needles for my husband, and I have a pride and pearls cardigan for myself and two lulu slipover juniors for my girls. And then once that’s all done I would love to cast on a book club cardigan before Christmas!
Currently working on a color work yoke sweater but my fall plans include finishing a sweater for my husband, making myself a Christmas Love Note, some baby gift knits for family and hopefully at least one more sweater or cardigan for myself.
Not sure I've commented before, though I've been watching for awhile. I just had to jump in on the sewing! I learned to sew when I was 9, or at least, I was sat in front of a machine with a stack of quilt squares to sew together starting then. I didn't really get into it until about 10 years ago, and for a few years, I had a quilt/fabric shop on Etsy and gave sewing classes. I've tried quite a few machines. The first thing I will say is, I find that most people who struggle with sewing in the beginning are actually struggling with a low quality machine. IMHO, most of the machines you can get at a big box/craft store (here in the U.S. I'm talking about Joann or Walmart) aren't worth the money or frustration. If you're going to get a newer model/beginner Singer, get the Heavy Duty model. Everything is manual, and it's pretty basic, but it's pretty solid and able to handle more than most other machines in it's price category. If you're able to get a gently used Juki, Babylock, Janome, or mid-range Brother, I think you'll be ok for awhile. I started out with a mid-range Janome and it's great for basic apparel. You could do some quilting on it as well, but I think you'd find that more challenging over time. It's a great starting point though. I'm pretty sure the Singer Heavy Duty model would be a great starting point with a lower price point, and might be easier to find. And I think it would serve you well for most sewing projects, at least for awhile!
Hi I'm new to knitting and not sure where to find the patterns. Can someone pls tell me where I can buy pattern . And also where I can find the solene pattern!!😅
Have you ever knit with wool from the Doulton Flock? All their sheep are allowed to live to the end of their natural lives. I’m planning to make a huge purchase because of that and would love to know about the yarn from your perspective.
I haven’t personally heard of or used yarn from Doulton Flock but that’s really interesting to hear! I think it would be great to support them if you are able ☺️
That’s fair! I’ve been looking for a tie front cardigan with a fitted shoulder for a while so it’s worth it to me! I wanted to get the mohair tie jacket by handmade by florence but it was never released
I love your choice of patterns! Adding one more pattern to the cabled cardigans category: I’m planning on knitting the Artisane Cardigan by Sandnes this fall/winter - it has this super gorgeous asymmetrical design!
I’m also really feeling knit mini skirts and dresses this season and have a bunch in my plans, including the staple skirt. I think it would work really well as fingering weight and the shaping on it looks so nice. Great pattern choices for the season! Super ambitious cardigans so can’t wait to see what you decide
Knitting bottom up is my preferred way of knitting, it’s not difficult at all. I have been knitting for close to 60 years, I have never done any top down knitting and the idea of that type of construction is very intimidating to me. But I am sure as with being comfortable with one way of knitting one could also manage to do so it in the opposite way of construction. Just give it a try, if you like it, great, but if you don’t, at least you gave it a try.
RE: the peanut butter cardigan, its very common (almost ubiquitous) for Korean knitting patterns to be written bottom up and seemed and I've always found them intimidating too, but after watching a lot of Korean knitting vlogs on YT it seems 100% achievable! I recommend watching @hiyojeong @kosil_knits (they have English subtitles) and seeing them do seemed garments gives me the courage to try it myself
Hi Rebecca, I enjoyed this episode as usually, thank you! Kuutar wrap is also on my list and I still havent got to knit it. Excited to see your progress with the gauge experiment which I had in my mind as well. I also wanted to knit an Esther jacket, bought the yarn and changed my mind right before the cast on. Siri cardigan is slowly growing on my mind, so I guess I might choose it as well! Its beautiful! Regarding bottom up construction, I knit it a few times and for me it looks way more scary than it is. I might knit more bottom ups in the future, just need to beware of the sleeve length
The Solene Cardigan is out now (I think it was released yesterday) and I'm also so in love! It is so classic, but with a twist (or a tie😅) Would love to see you knit up a bright blue version!
Terrific plans! I think new to you techniques are always worth a try. I don’t mind bottom up but I really dislike seaming. Despite multiple projects, I cannot master a clean seam…
I also am trying to use stash yarn and have several patterns in mind. Btw, do not be intimidated by bottom up and seaming pieces together. Watch a few videos like Leslie Friend with Pink Knits or Rox Richardson. I learned from the Knit and Purl books btw Sally Melville. I think some of her patterns are still good but mostly her knitting information is priceless to me. I like reading her books. Good luck.
Don't shy away from bottom-up, seamed garments. You're a very skilled knitter and those seams are much easier than many of the techniques you've already mastered. You will mostly just use mattress stitch which is fairly easy and you'll be giving your garment a lot more structure. I don't like the way top-down garments hang off of my shoulders due to the lack of a seam. So go for it! You'll also find the project much more portable if you take your knitting on the road. It's much easier to knit a sleeve when there isn't a whole sweater attached. I also think blocking in pieces is much better. Those cables will look spectacular!
