Great commentary, to the point, and moved along quickly. Thank you for doing this. Many of us don't have the time to keep up with all the new patterns and trends, so I found you video to be very helpful.

The Karla Cardigan is one of those patterns that just jumped to the top of my wishlist. I love that it's mosaic colourwork too!

Could'nt agree more with your theory on textured cardigans. Getting ready to do my first but my knits and purls are very uneven. I'm going for a broken rib 😅

Ahhh I’m glad someone else agrees with the theory haha and broken rib to the rescue!

I like that toggle buttons are making a comeback. I think V-necks probably look better on large busted women. I’m larger busted, and that is what looks more attractive on me. Crew necks can make me look frumpy unless they are cabled. It also depends on the type of yarn used to make the sweater. V-necks may just not be right for your body type.

I think textures are just fun too and agree the rhythm of stockinette in the round is also nice….

Love this video!!! Totally agree about textured cardigans, I’ve been seeing the Artisane cardigan and really wanting to knit it but not yet quite ready to shell out the $$$ for the Sandnes Garn yarn 🥹

All those stitch textures look so fun to knit up! A perfect process and product knit but finding the booklet is always a bit of a struggle aha 😅

They’re so lovely! Debating between the eurus vest or lulu slipover to add some toggle buttons

The Isager Archives collection is so inspiring and I specially like the low contrast sample of the Johanne Loop Sweater. Another trend that I've been noticing is cardigans with scalloped edge details, I'm very tempted by the Ballerina Romance Sweater by Camille K.

Oooo so true once you pointed it out! I actually just saw vert and rose’s story today where she also hinted at a cardigan with a scalloped rib edge 🤩 I’ll have to check out the Ballerina Romance Sweater

Love all the ones you talked about, another trend I noticed Graphics, 🎉, the last issue of pompom magazine! And there is another Danish designer that is on trend with that as well , odd row - Lene Rix, has a beautiful sweater,the notebook sweater. The other one I can’t find but they make the happy face vest, and a ying Yang one too, thanks Melissa.

Cori Eichelberger (iroc knots) has several patterns with words on them. She has a pullover with the word taco, which seems to be really popular, but she also has sewing terms on other garments.

I see a lot of oversized sweaters. I can see having one or 2 in one's wardrobe, but it just looks like it's the wrong size on most and obscures their silhouette. It also gives a childish baby vibe as if the wearer is playing dress-up in mother's clothes. I see all kinds of vests and "pullovers" which can be a less constructed alternative to an actual veat. I like this look because it uses less yarn due to the absence of sleeves. A vest can be layered over a top or under a jacket. Any kind of knitting: cables, stripes, colorwork, etc. can be featured in a vest.

Vest are so versatile! I have one slipover in my wardrobe now but hoping that I can knit a few more

I don’t understand the idea of not wanting or liking to knit the purl stitches, makes no sense to me at all. I have been knitting for many years, taught myself to knit when expecting my first child. I knit continental so maybe the problem comes in when knitting with the throwing technique. Maybe you could explain why this is a problem for others to execute without having problems. My knit and purl stitches both have the same tension and look really nice.

I use a flicking style (so still English knitting) and I have 0 problems purling! I always thought it was more difficult for continental knitters but now I'm confused🤔
@hipknithooray
@hipknithooray 3 месяца назад
I’m a combination knitter but I really prefer to knit continental as it’s much faster for me. I can’t get my tension even when I purl my stitches continental (have tried several variations) so when I need to work a piece flat, I will have to knit English style which is slower and harder on my hands. So for me, its similar to what you mentioned, it’s mainly because of knitting speed and fatigue! I also can work knit stitches without looking but struggle to do the same with purl stitches so that’s another big factor 😅
@patriciahall8733

Interesting, I can purl without looking much easier than knitting without looking.

I knit English throw style and find nothing unpleasant with purling. I am clueless why anyone would have a preference
@lorrainewalker9426

I was taught to knit and seam garments, wasn’t aware knitting could be done in the round. So purling has never been an issue for me. I knit English style but flick. Suppose it’s what you get used to ❤x

I have the same exact feeling when I have to wear a V neck something.. I’m saying this after spent almost a month knitting Cumulus bluse by petiteknit, which is wonderful by the way, but I found the V neck shaping itself really hard to combine in a cool outfit. 🥲 same about V neck vest! Anyway thank you so much for your contents, I’m new to knitting and for some of us who don’t have the time to follow along every good pattern released, it’s very helpful ❤ thank you!
@hipknithooray
@hipknithooray 3 месяца назад
I actually get a lot of wear out of my cumulus blouse - probably my most worn v neck! Maybe the cumulus o neck would be more wearable for you? I think I will eventually knit a few more v neck sweaters but have to find a way to style them. And thank you for the kind words!

Love your podcasts. Just an experience I had with Aegyoknits. White knitting the Busan I reached out for technical support and did not get any response. I love their designs but won’t know any more of there patterns for the reason.
