Hi, thanks for a great review! I have a pair and love these headphones, especially using with the bass ported ear pads which improve the bass and the headband pads which improve comfort. Very detailed and dynamic headphones, but overall retain a very pleasing musical presentation. Kudos on your videos! Great job! 👍 😊
Great video guys, like another viewer already noted they have the style of build as the 560 , I don’t think the price point is a bit high for that style of build, I think should be around £249- 269 , if it had the same build style as the rest for 600 range then yes £300 is a good price, at the moment in the Uk some the outlets selling hd650 for £229, and hd660s2 to £359, so at that prices better off getting those that these, it be good if reviewer do hd 560 v these ones . Regards mark
Most people miss the amazing ability of A6 HDMI output for multichannel DSD / DSF (SACD) and PCM 7.1 file playback. Try listening to Billy Joel's The Stranger in multichannel DSD in a high quality audiophile surround setup. You will be entranced.
Great review guys! I’ve got a couple of questions if you don’t mind. 1. Does the HDMI ARC input work with digital coax out? Does the volume control work in this mode? 2. Is there a difference in SQ between these devices when used with coax out to a dedicated DAC? Thanks!
Yes! It is a subtle difference between units when using a DAC but there is still a difference! The HDMI Arc should still work when using a DAC but I haven’t tested it myself!
You guys are full of useful energy and downright happiness at your evolving listening skills and differential abilities. It was a pleasure watching you play off of each other and you present a great video. I personally don’t care about aesthetics. What I wanna know is the sound and is it hard and precise and everything‘s where it should be or is it soft and gentle and possibly muddy together. Overall a great video and I hope you continue to produce them.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We love music and we love that we get to make videos talking about fun gear! I know we both don’t know all the terminology yet but we are definitely training our ears!
Thanks guys, great video. I have a DMP-A8. I think it is an amazing product. I was wondering what DAC you would suggest as a significant upgrade to the A8's internal dac at the sub $5k price point. I have shifted entirely to digital listening. My system is B&W 802D3, mcintosh c2700 pre, mc462 amp. Thanks
Hey you could get some great stuff! Two of my mind would be the Primaluna EVO 100 DAC if you want tubes or the Ferrum WANDLA! If you wanted more in depth advice we can definitely get you with one of our experts!
Newb question: If I play a concert DVD through a cheap player, but have a great DAC is it not going to sound good? If not how do you watch concert DVD's and get reference or at least midfi sound? Thanks.
Nothing is going to be better then your source (the dvd) you should look at blu ray concerts and I think Amazon has a streaming service for concerts some are even in atmos!
I got an A8 back in March and am extremely happy with it. As you said, vocals sound natural and there is impressive soundstage. It even makes older poor recordings bearable to listen to, something my old streamer, an Eweat (MyMei) DMP-50 (I believe is made by the Eversolo/Zidoo OEM), could never do. I have paired the Eversolo to a Hypex Nilai500DIY 250W stereo power amplifier, a class d amp that sounds extremely detailed yet silky smooth with no top end harshness.
Another hit gentlemen. I have watched all of videos from the major RU-vidrs on each of these 3 units over the past few months. Honestly, you brought quite a bit to the table with your review, and even a few things that were left out of those other reviews. For example, this was the first time seeing the touch screen in action to this extent. Also, your description of the sound, instrument separation, as well as the depth and width of the soundstage stood out and was unique...essential information for any enthusiast. Keep up the great work and hope to see you at the upcoming event this week in Laverne.
I like how you described the sound without using audiophile nonsense terms like chocolaty or velvety. Depth, width, natural voices and bass are concepts we can understand.
I've been using the DMP A6 Master Edition w/ an internal linear power supply unit, 2TB Samsung 990 SSD and a Pioneer USB disc drive for ripping/playing CDs. I'm very happy with the Eversolo if I'm being honest. I don't have a ton of experience with streamers, but I really like this one. Granted, the $$$ I've invested into my DMP A6 M.E. at this point is pretty ridiculous. At any rate, I use my Eversolo DMP A6 M.E. for Tidal streaming and as a "hub" for my digital audio files. The Eversolo connects to a Black Ice Audio FusionF360 stereo preamp via XLR and then to an Emotiva XPA-TWO power amp via XLR. I have a pair of the Arendal 1723 THX floor standing speakers and a pair of Emotiva's XS12 12" powered subwoofers. I'm real happy with my "digital chain". Not gonna lie...
@@upscaleaudio I feel like I'm on a good path with my HiFi "journey". lol I'm only 13 months into this, but I'm really happy with the sound I'm getting. I need "better" subs next. I think I may do something custom. Stereo Integrity have a humongous subwoofer right now that looks and sounds incredible. I don't hate the idea of doing a pair of the 18" version of that Stereo Integrity sub in sealed boxes. I definitely need something that's loud/big...but sealed. Custom is my only option as I can't afford the really expensive HiFi stuff.
Cars which are produced in Italy are bad news but Italian Hifi is a different story 🎉❤👍 The cooling metal on the side are amazing 😍 If you would build them in a strait angle the sound breaks down extremely.
Hi, what if you use a single HT1205mk2 sub setup, is it better to use a Y adapter on my single RCA? I have the music (moe important 4 me) in a good setting but when i watch a movie ist to heavy!
I am very intrigued by these speakers. I think the Vintage Classic X is probably the exact sweet spot of the Fyne audio classic line. I am curious to hear them someday. I have read very positive reviews of these speakers but I have also read that some people say they are coloured and my lack some of the airyness in the highs. I guess it is all subjective but I love the Tannoy series and Fyne audio designs. Very unique and characterful.
that Tannoy model has a pepperpot dual concentric i have over 40 years experience of that drive unit, which is used in hi-fi choice magazine speaker built into the walls to eliminate cabinet vibrations, t they test how audio equiptment really sounds, those speakers all those years ago was so accurate they were used to test microphones, they will show up errors in recordings that other so called speakers hide.they do need a long time to settle in. it also shoes up shortcummings in equiptment , the peperpot is not used so much by Tannoy nnow because the engereering im making that unit is very expensive thus making it expensive to manifacture
Tannoy have had experts before and will have after Dr Mills, Tannoy have and had voice comunication systems that the voice is clear sounding and were used in WW2 using an elecronic version of didgital signal proccesing to make sure the voice was clear. Tannoy was a company that was listed as extremely important for the war, tank to tank systems and self power mics plus more, Tannoy are still in the top league. point source like in these speakers is the only way for harmonics to be replyed correctly and is how the brain knows a musical instrument correctly.
I am so in love with the version 3 you have no idea it is a beautiful.. it'll blow the roof off a room as large as 50 ft long 30 ft wide 10 ft ceilings and what you hear come out of them will remind one of 70s concert audio and just a stream of fun.
I heard these at T.H.E. Show with the Music Fidelity A1 class eh amp, Ever Solo DAC streamer and Cardas Cables. OMG soooooo great! The 12”s were Fyne too.
I have a PS Audio Stellar Phono Stage and it’s the best sounding phono preamp I’ve ever had. It’s very versatile in that you can hook up two turntables (mm and mc cart) and swap between them electronically, it has 3 levels of gain, you can mute and pick loading values (greater spread than the JC3+) through the remote. Also turn it on/off. My one issue is that I have a low frequency hum that I just can’t get rid of, even when there’s nothing plugged into the inputs. Discussed this substantially with Darrel and some with Paul and they ended up swapping the internals but to no avail. Having a second mostly different unit have the same issue would lead to the conclusion that it’s something in my environment. Maybe so, but I’ve never been able to hear a hum 2 feet away from my speakers with any other pp. I’m going to try a JC3+ and see if I have the same issue.
Hello, I just want to use one earphone and don't want to be tired of switching devices all the time depending on the type of music. I listen to 80% classical and 20% jazz and pop. I I think I like mm500 very much, and I think the instrument part is quite good, and the vocals are in the front, so the female voice sounds good. Do you recommend other headphones at this level? I think the Sound Stage of the mm500 is ok. For classical music, the instrument is not too modified and artificial, the low-frequency dive is enough for jazz. I'm still looking for a sound I like, maybe you can give me some advice or other information.
