I find the pick after file card is really helpful to because then you can draw and pick a bunch of marbles and get a level 3 card faster (especially those rainbow ones)
I really appreciated this review! I especially liked that you described your experience playing at 6 players. Most reviewers either say something like "I would never play this at 6" or "6 was too many players," but they never detail what the experience was like. Great review! I'm looking forward to this expansion!
Great overview...I absolutely love this game and I can't stop thinking about it. I've now played two full "4-player" games solo where I played each of the three Classes and the State to learn the various roles...chef's kiss! I will say, I love the assymetry and as far as the taxes are concerned, I really can't complain that they distilled thousands of pages of tax code imto a few matrices which prove quite accessible.
Flames of Fafnir looks cool, but Lucky Duck and crowdfunding is just a bad combination. They never seem to be on time and by the time the games drop, my interest is gone. Sirens looks gorgeous and now I will need to see more!!
question about ape lord phantasm monster card.. if i slay that , do the other players get that benefit to return any monkey idol token or its effect just for me ?
I bought the base game from a member of our local game group for a great price, with the condition that if/when an expansion released I would pick it up. I haven't even been able to play the base game yet but now I have to preorder this expansion! Thanks for the review!
The 6th player is the least interesting part of this expansion. It's the fixes and the quicker start (like Terraforming mars prelude) and the dual layer boards that make this a must have.
Stonemaier website has the main game + expansion bundle on their website, but it gives an error when trying to add to the cart. The expansion alone is no where to be found on the website...any news on when exactly we should be able to order it? I know that people with membership should be able to get the game a bit in advance of retail time. Thanks
I’m probably most interested in Ada’s Dream, but I may wait for retail. Grimcoven looks like it’ll make a lot of money. I probably don’t need another boss battler right now, so I may pass on it. I don’t need another campaign game either, but with all the positive buzz about Agemonia, I may get in on the reprint campaign with is supposedly coming very soon. Thanks for the info!
Kevin and Melissa will be showing off Ada's Dream on the June Saturday Morning Board Game Show [Live Saturday June 1 at 11am Eastern]. Also, the Kickstarter campaign has been pushed back one week to June 10.
I believe Merchants of the Dark Road and Santa’s Workshop from Elf Creek Games is coming to Kickstarter on June 4th. Other than that, great job giving a number of games that look interesting.
