Chances are if RYM gasses it up and you've never heard of it, it sounds like toilet noise. Very rarely does it actually deliver to the standard they set. - Aquemini - Madvillainy - The Money Store - Pinata - atrocity exhibition - any jpegmafia album All mid af and boring grandpa/elevator music or toilet sounds. I'd take WLR over any of these any day and I don't even like it that much jfl

he looks like the type of guy to stomp his feet and have steam erupt from his ears if you say "The Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite Pink Floyd album."
@@LavaCreeperPeople it's not generic at all 😭 It was one of the most important albums of the decade... People used it in BLM parades, it had tons of debate around it at the time, it was very important for black people in America. It's also just got really good lyricism and too deep for me to explain. As for the sound it's also not generic, it's a fusion of hip-hop and jazz and I havent heard much like it tbh Please just find some humility. Like whatever it's your music taste but dont just say it's generic just cause it's a guy rapping and not super exciting video game ost 😭 I also used to only listen to video game music but I started listened to rhythm game artists who were actual musicians and now I like hip-hop 🤷♀️
I like using rym to find new music I can listen to which probably is good. If it's under a 3 then it's probably not good. But that isn't to say that I agree with the reviews on albums. I think Atrocity exhibition is better than to pimp a butterfly for example. To pimp a butterfly is good, but extremely overrated, like come on.
2:10 that’s the easiest way to tell if someone’s taste is artificial. Obviously most people love multiple genres but people with a natural opinion will have a common base genre they listen to
The people on that website literally hate everything. Whenever I look up my favorite album, it has terrible reviews with opinions I have never heard about said album before when talking to people in real life. I do not go there anymore.
My friends who are also big into music are on RYM all the time. They’re always specifying the genre of albums that I’m enjoying and say things like “it’s actually inspired by this other album that came out in the 80s” or something and all I have to say is “cool”. They do show me a lot of good music though.
its so sad because sometimes conversations revolving around genres/influences can be fun and interesting, but when you can tell that the person ur talking to is literally just repeating stuff they saw on rym its hard not to get second hand embarrassment.
I was once the insufferable RYM guy in my teens. But it's very rare that their highest rated albums are trash. I just dislike the bias they have against anything that regular people listen to.
