The official RU-vid channel of ex Crystal Palace, Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright.
From growing up in South London to the multiple unsuccessful trials and plans to give up playing, I signed my first first professional contract with Crystal Palace a few months before my 22nd birthday. In 1991 I signed for Arsenal Football Club where I scored 185 goals in 288 appearances. I went on to play 581 league games, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in England and Scotland, earning 33 caps for the English national team.
I am now fortunate enough to have a football broadcast career working for the BBC & ITV.
Some Career Achievements: 185 goals in 288 appearances for Arsenal (2nd all time leading goal scorer) 117 goals in 253 starts for Crystal Palace (leading post war goal scorer) 33 caps for England Men’s National Team Premier League Winner (Arsenal): 97/98 Premier League Golden Boot (Arsenal): 91/92 FA Cup (Arsenal) : 92/93, 97/98 European Cup Winners' Cup (Arsenal): 93/94
THANK YOU TO CLASSIC FOOTBALL SHIRTS FOR CHOOSING THIERRY HENRY’S NEW YORK RED BULL JERSEY! Man I wish kids these days remembered the MLS I grew up with: we have attracted world wide stars side the mid 2000s, Messi wasn’t the first not by a long shot (before you say anything about him being the goat, it doesn’t matter he’s old as can be were almost everyone we’ve brought in at different points. It grows the league and makes fans as kids having legends you can look up to when you’re first learning FIFA and trying your home team (I was so young I didn’t know anything about the Premier League, so I chose Chelsea as my favorite squad because it began with a C then I found NYRB shirts at a TJ Max, and because it’s my state/being I had never seen Red Bull tees I bought them up and was a “fan” ever since especially when I went home and found out they had one of the best US teams at the time thanks to him… AS WELL AS BRADLEY WRIGHT-PHILLIPS! OUR ALL TIME GOAL SCORER AND THE SON OF OUR FAVORITE IAN WRIGHT! HE WAS SO GOOD IN FACT THE TEAM DECIDED TO BRING IN SHAUN AS WELL WHEN IT WAS NOT COST EFFECTIVE! If I would’ve been playing FIFA constantly for that split time I would’ve loved it, I may have been tbh and just didn’t play a game with NY I forget because that was the end of my time in high school and I was focused on work, women, and partying not video games… oh how the times have changed less than a decade later lmao. I’m about to boot up my PS5 to start a new career mode but instead starting off in the German 3rd tier rather than the bottom of the English football as I get ready for NCAA Football 24 to release. To honor you Ian my first signing will be D’Margio, no matter the team I settle on he’ll play until he reaches his potential because truthfully I do feel as though Shaun is looked back on unfairly versus yourself and Bradley and I personally always will assume coaching in Man City was the issue, not him. Oh well wish me luck people as I build the next third Wright(-Phillips) Golden Boot winner!
Wright, you're an inspiration, I'm from Melbourne Australia, follow epl a little, but your genuine humble and such personable nature is simply awesome, cheers mate, Dave Wright
How spiteful can a person can be to take someone's memories like that? I am so please you got your stuff back, those guys are legends. We love you Wrighty.
The emotional look on his face when Ian Wright asked him what is his favorite and he replied Arsenal. Just shows how much the club means to him as a legend. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thanks for this interview Wrighty. Dennis is by far the player I enjoyed watching the most. He was a magician and undoubtedly “The Iceman”. I miss watching him. Forever a Gooner! There’s only ONE, DENNIS BERGKAMP!
Ian worked your way to one of my favourite players, never seen you live but your character is unmatched sir. All love from Toronto Canada, hope to see an Arsenal game in person next season 🟥⬜️
As much as I can’t stand arsenal (United fan here), if Bergkamp was playing, I’d root for arsenal against United. Even zizou being my fav. I’d put bergkamp abilities over him.
