From growing up in South London to the multiple unsuccessful trials and plans to give up playing, I signed my first professional contract with Crystal Palace a few months before my 22nd birthday. In 1991 I signed for Arsenal Football Club where I scored 185 goals in 288 appearances. I went on to play 581 league games, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in England and Scotland, earning 33 caps for the English national team.
I am now fortunate enough to have a football broadcast career working for the BBC & ITV.
Some Career Achievements:
185 goals in 288 appearances for Arsenal (2nd all time leading goal scorer)
117 goals in 253 starts for Crystal Palace (leading post war goal scorer)
33 caps for England Men’s National Team
Premier League Winner (Arsenal): 97/98
Premier League Golden Boot (Arsenal): 91/92
FA Cup (Arsenal) : 92/93, 97/98

Not a gooner but a Liverpool fan..Tuned in coz i love Wrighty.. It's very interesting to hear Arteta speak about the connection with players being more than just football..That is exactly what Klopp does..He gets beneath their skin to find out what makes them tick as people and what motivates them..This is quality modern day manager stuff that should be commended..If i were an Arsenal fan i'd be very encouraged to hear things like this..It shows that you're going in the right direction..Baby steps before adult strides..Stay safe everyone

I’ve always said that LFC would come back to the top and I would have loved Klop at Arsenal but happy with the Arteta and looking forward to the steps to our own recovery

He's very hungry like the young Guardiola. I truly have faith that he will do the job with or without top players. I've supported the club 72 years,the most memorable game for me is not trophy,or a title game but 1958 February the last game the Busby babies played in this country before their Munich disaster. Utd won 5-4 at highbury.kelsey in goal and many other favourites does anyone else remember? that game

Like me, I'm sure there were many others not sure about Mikel Arteta but the more I hear him talk about our club, showing respect, passion, determination I start to believe in him. There is some form of class that oozes out of him. I can imagine if those thoughts are in my mind, the same or similar thoughts must run across the minds of our players. He seems clear about his belief's. I'm feeling very happy and proud he is our manager!
