I had ferrets as a kid. They never ONCE bitt me. One day my dad was stupid enough to feed them out of his hand. My hob mistook his finger for a pilchard and messed is finger up big time!!!! Those jaws are pretty powerful! I love ferrets
A friend of mine had a ferret and it attacked his younger sister and ripped apart her face scaring her for life so I watched as he broke its spine and drowned in the tub after throwing the diseased vermin into a fan.. I like Guinea pigs and I have met some very fine ferrets like the cuties you got but I keep in mine that like any animal they can be dangerous
So, I was wondering. Do ferrets sometimes turn on owners like a lion would? Because I'm not sure if that's a myth started by the fact that a baby was killed, or if it's true or not. I don't intend on getting one, just felt like knowing.
Hi there. So, like any animal of any kind, they can turn on their human and attack. Ferrets are no different even though they have been domesticated since the accent Egyptian times or earlier. It is possible to get a ferret that may turn on your some day. I think the odds of winning the lottery are about the same as that happening honestly. My 2 girls attack and rip apart shoes...I pick them up, and it's licks and climbing on me and making noise...all my years I have never had any ferret turn on me...they will flash teeth if you tickle them...but they just don't "attack".
I use to have one and loved him to bits had to get him done though he really was a smelly ferret. He didn't bite but the female we had at the time did she liked biting me. The just need handling all the time. Enjoy ferret lovers. <3

Those bites hurt like hell they got long teeth the claws are like razors and the little bastard can quickly slip out of your grasp they can climb very fast the girl I mentioned near the top of the comment section with no warning it climbed up her head and ripped into her face and bit at her eyes and ears a well placed strike from a metal baseball bat on the ferret saved her from more damage but the little wretched weasel deserved no mercy and my friend gave none
+Michael Howard If only my petco told me to buy them in pairs. I bought a single one and he got sad a little down the line, so I just bought a buddy for him. The new guy is a baby tho, so he's roughly 1/3rd of his size. Need to wait a few months before they go in the same cage. Tried to introduce them in a neutral environment but my older guy was a bit too rough. Gonna wait for little guy to get bigger.
Tempered right they aren't MEAN. Some are naturally and some can be made mean. BUT they're ALWAYS dangerous. In the right circumstances they can seriously hurt you. They can break small bones, kill other pets and in the case of one news story they ate off a babies face. But that story was negligence on the mothers part since she left her newborn in a room with 2 ferrets in a cloth carry bag. Treat them right and they'll never cause trouble. :D

I miss my two little ones, both succumbed to cancers. A ferret will steal your heart when it comes into your life, but breaks your heart when it leaves.
dangerously cute. :D seriously though, no, ferrets are domestic pets. they were selectively bred from weasels and stoats, which are wild. ferrets are only as crazy and neurotic as their owners. this makes me miss my ferrets. best pets i've ever had.

Where did you read THAT crap? Have YOU ever seen a ferret hunting rabbits? There is a type of a wild ferret, the black legged one, but otherwise they're domestic animals.fool.
Actually, ferrets have been domesticated for so long that if you put them in the wild they would die because they wouldn't know how to hunt or take care of themselves, (with the exception of the blackfooted ferret).
