+Michael Howard If only my petco told me to buy them in pairs. I bought a single one and he got sad a little down the line, so I just bought a buddy for him. The new guy is a baby tho, so he's roughly 1/3rd of his size. Need to wait a few months before they go in the same cage. Tried to introduce them in a neutral environment but my older guy was a bit too rough. Gonna wait for little guy to get bigger.
Just the most beautiful vid ever m8. Chokes me up every single time. Christ, how I miss my little 'uns. If only they lived a few years longer. Once they're gone Life can never be the same again. Thank you
I miss my two little ones, both succumbed to cancers. A ferret will steal your heart when it comes into your life, but breaks your heart when it leaves.
This makes me miss my ferret, Cleo, she was attacked by a new baby ferret that we got because her companion died. She died a day after being attacked. I never cried so hard for anything smaller than a dog. Watching this makes me miss her so much. Sure they shit everywhere and steal all your stuff, but they have so much personality and are so lively even at an old age.
It should be added that ferrets usually only bite because that's how they play; their pain threshold is much higher than a human's - there's no malice in it.
dangerously cute. :D seriously though, no, ferrets are domestic pets. they were selectively bred from weasels and stoats, which are wild. ferrets are only as crazy and neurotic as their owners. this makes me miss my ferrets. best pets i've ever had.
The title of your video had me worried for a moment because I have been wanting a ferret for a long time. Then I read the comments and watched the videos lol. Nice title trick! :P I am getting one soon!!!!!!!!
I think I need to show this to some of my county officials. Today I found out that ferrets are technically illegal in the county I live in, out in rural Iowa.
I had ferrets as a kid. They never ONCE bitt me. One day my dad was stupid enough to feed them out of his hand. My hob mistook his finger for a pilchard and messed is finger up big time!!!! Those jaws are pretty powerful! I love ferrets
my ferrets went to a specialist vet and she took them and gave them the care they needed. she was trained in exotic pets and ferrets and knew how to deal with what they had. and had the tools and meds they needed. only one of mine died and that was bandit with the urinary track infection and crystization of urine in his bladder from all the cat food his former owners fed him.
As I have a ferret-proof apartment (no cables where she can reach, furniture fitted neatly agaist walls so she can't get stuck, etc) my ferret doesn't even have a cage. And yes, just one ferret. She's a rescue and she's not dealing well with other animals all the time, but she does have contact with other ferrets almost daily (neighbors and friends have ferrets too), so she's not lonely.
i had a custom made cage for my 7 ferrets. it cost me over $600 to have it made and sent to me but was worth it. it had 2 parts called big ben and the ranch. my fuzzy's loved it
i have ferrets at my college and i was once visciously bitten by one, it may have been because i spooked it when i reached down to pick it up, it might have been because it was fed up of all the people who had picked it up previously that day..but ever since i've been wary of going near them and its put me off having them as pets :( even though i think they are so cool and adorable
I have two, one of them dark the other white, the dark one was an ideal kit always - super friendly, always active, bit me once, one day after i got him, he was about 2 weeks old. A snap on the head - never bit me again although he loves to chew my fingers (very gently). The white one reminds me of a suicidal emo kid in high school, always a problem with my poor beaver, he used to get depressed, frightened all the time, and of course it was harder to train him. Both a year old now, all is fine.
I'd love to know the name of the background music... the video was adorable too^^ I wish I had the kind of lifestyle that would let me have a ferret...
If you bring up ferrets with love and care, they are amazing things that give much more love back. All of mine I am happy to say are all trust worthy enough for me to feed them meat right out of my mouth... and I do quite often. Even our latest rescue, who I have scars to prove his viciousness on day one, now eats from my mouth after just a few months. Love them and give them the love they deserve and they will return it 10-fold.
No animal should be left alone with a young child or babies. There are insidences of ferrets chewing a babies fingers off. Babies tend to grab things and try to put them into their mouths and if you do this to an animal, some time they will bite to get freed. So never ever leave an animal of any kind alone with a young baby or child under 10.
Actually, ferrets have been domesticated for so long that if you put them in the wild they would die because they wouldn't know how to hunt or take care of themselves, (with the exception of the blackfooted ferret).
me and my wife had 7 of the little fuzz butts. sadly they all either died from health issues or we had to give them away to those that could afford the healthcare to keep them alive. i plan to get another or 2 when i am able. i miss my carpet sharks
I absolutely love ferrets and have spent time handling them. They are not at all dangerous. I think that if you care for them and treat them right, they will stay good and have more fun with you
Don't smack or flick your finger at their nose - it can cause damage. I would rather use the method of (gently) prying their jaws open and stick a finger in their mouth every time they bite. They hate it and will soon learn to stop, and it doesn't hurt them.
lol I almost didnt want to watch your video because I HATE people saying ferrets bite or are evil or dangerous, but I am so glad I did I LOVED your video and when your baby is looking right at the camera it was so cute :) thank you for the beautiful music to a wonderful video as they lick your hand :)
The thing is, a lot of idiots get ferrets and leave them in a cage and forget about them. If you do the same to a cat or dog, they'd be inclined to bite too. All of the well-socialised ferrets that I've had and 'befriended' have never bitten.
I know it's 7 years later... but... that song is from the Motion Picture Soundtrack of Dune (1984) by Toto. I can't recall which track, but it's definitely from the Dune soundtrack.
My two ferrets are perfectly gentle, and have never bitten anyone. Not the family. Not strangers. Not the cat. Any animal will protect itself; and react to their owners long term treatment. I don’t care what it is.
It is impossible for an animal to be bad. It all matters on how you treat them. If you are bad to them, they be bad back. So treat others on how you want to be treated. : )
i loved my carpet sharks. they would run and chase each other and one of the cats would play bop the fetter as the line of them went by. i miss them and if i am able to care for them as i did when i first got them again i will get me another. but i cant handle 7 at the same time now. i remember how i could shake the container of yougies and they would come running. they loved the peanut butter flavored ones
Very dangerous indeed! I have 2 bloodthirsty ferrets too. Licking my fingers to death and sleeping on me so I cant go anywhere! What a horror! Very beautiful ferrets you have :)
@Chewbacca0678 Ferrets naturally have no fear of people. However, they can develop fear if abused, and when they bite out of fear, it is bad. Do not assume that getting a ferret from Petco, or other petstore, means that they are good ferrets. I purchased a female from Petco once and she had a very bad case of fear biting, so much so that a few caused temp nerve damage. Always do a thorough inspection and make sure they have return policy.
Just depends on the personality. But usually can be trained as babies not to bite. Teething and biting are different! If you adopt an adult you just have to be patient and show them who is the boss. Don't be mean but gently teach them not to
I don't know what a ferret diet consists of, but I know horses will lick the earth if they don't have enough of a certain mineral. Maybe your ferret needs salt? Or maybe it's just an affection thing, like dogs. Like I said, I don't know much about ferrets.
Maybe i can shed some light. Littter box use is not instinct, but playing and going in sand is. they do learn it from their mothers, just like their mothers did. They wont use it everytime for a washroom but sometimes. If its not nearby they forget about it.. / Find the lowest corner(low light helps) in the the room, almost guarantee that they will deficate there
They have a sent that people think stink. The stink if from their oils on their skin. Some don't smell it because they are use to their animal... You can give them baths in a sink or a usual bath tub. Some ferrets do not like baths, some do. if u do give a ferret a bath, you can use ferret soap or baby soap. I learned this from online. Idk if this helps but jsut look online google and links will show up. they help alot
