@@Vainglory100 Not really! I had an MOS that the base required one of. The unit I was at previous to Mujuk was one of the higher echelon units for my MOS, so they normally like to pull Marines from there, with the idea that they may be very proficient at their MOS.
Brader may the Good Lord Jesus Christ continue to strengthen you and guide you in every step of your career as a freedom fighter against evil in the world. Praise to God 🙏 forever and ever..Boluaisei 🙏
I was sitting on DuPont's Bank after someone woke me getting ready for Liberty because we were just paid and waited to see if the weather would change. I was going to meet Emma Watanabe in Tokyo to get married and I remember one of the Marines was looking out the window laughing because the weight of the water ,the Quonset hut behind us , was broken and water was going inside. I then pulled out a cigarette to light it, when I smelled the fuel mixed with water. I yelled out to the Marines around me , "Don't light any cigarettes ", I remember also I had a radio and I was playing Donna Summers on a cassette and I turned it off. I then yelled, " I smell gas, and one of the other Marines went to the door, opened it up, and a huge fireball blasted him to the other side of the Quonset hut trapping us inside. I knew now that we were in some kind of danger at first we thought it was some kind of training exercise and one of the other Marines went to the front door and tried to open it but mud kept the door from opening and there was approximately 8' foot flames and dark smoke starting to creep inside. I yelled out for everybody to go down on the floor so the smoke could go over us , I was thinking this is the way I'm going to die ? and the last moment I said no that's when I spotted a window I got up ran to it broke out the side pushed my arm through. That's when I felt somebody pulling on my elbow trying to get me out. As soon as my feet hit the ground I felt the flames and realized that I was on fire. As the Corpsman was trying to put the flames out , I noticed the Red Cross on his helmet and that's when the Quonset Hut blew up inside, the Corpsman told me they were bringing the wounded to The culinary area and I blacked out, next thing I know I was being treated and amazingly watched around me as Amtrak's were running over the burning Quonset huts pulling Marines and Sailors out. It was hard, I'll stop there because the rest of the description is just vile and horrid. It changed a lot of people's lives, also the Japanese did so much, especially with the Japanese boot camp that was right over the hill , they really were busting to try to save Marines and Sailors. "It looked like a war zone !"was my last thought. Years later when I was trying to contact the Marine Corps in regards to this matter I was told that I was never there ghosted from the incident which caused an investigation and fortunately enough I had photos and the photo album that survived the fire to prove that I was there. For years I suffered from survivor remorse and now I have found my purpose. Sam I promised your brother I would get to the truth and I'm not giving up until I do. The Government fabricated their story with excuses and left your family with no answers as they ghosted me. I'm still doing an ongoing investigation. I will not stop till I find out the truth and find out who the officer was that had that duty and was in dereliction of duty. Someone should take responsibility for the 13 Souls that perished as well as the injured and the family that they left behind deserve peace. I am holding the truth and my integrity and word of a made promise to Philip.
