My name is Lisa & I am the force behind the influential beauty & fashion page previously LisaSz09. Founded in 2008 as an outlet for my passion for products, LisaSz09 quickly became a place to help others find their Style & Confidence in themselves. My mission is to help the Over 40 woman find items that make her feel amazing in her own skin. Through testing products & trying on new fashion to create outfits for your everyday life, no matter what that may look like. I was born & raised in the small (1st) state of Delaware, I grew up as a tomboy who also had a love of taking risks & trying new things. After moving to Maryland in 2001 I spent years working in various forms of marketing careers, however after marrying my husband (Marty) & having my son (MJ) I made the decision to focus my marketing background in to creating online content to help other women. I am now focusing on helping the over 40 woman who is not your typical size 0 find products and fashion they love! Cheers- Lisa
Really nice to find over-40 beauty channels! I don’t want to see what a foundation looks like on a 20 year old because it’s not going to look the same on me. No hate at all to 20 somethings. I’m just so glad the beauty community is expanding. I never understood commercials for anti aging products featuring 22 year olds (even when I was a 22 year old) 😂.
My ends are dry dry. I’m afraid of using heat. I have to choose if I want long messier hair or short styled hair. Did you go to the same salon but different stylist?
Hello, I've been watching your videos off & on for over 10 years, i found Colleen Rothchild thru you. I've been buying their Night oil & hair mask since. I Will be completely honest, when I 1st followed you I really thought this lady isn't going to age well no matter what she does back then, but now I noticed your skin has completely gotten better with Age. Everything you're doing is working for you. I think you look lovely. Thank you for sharing what works for you.
The official menopause website list MD’s that are extra certified in HRT and menopause. These MD’s have taken the extra courses and education required to be an “expert” for lack of a better word. I found a GYN off the site and she was fabulous and extremely knowledgeable and we made a plan together and it made the most amazing difference in my life.
Thanks for sharing Lisa! You've always kept it real and kept on moving here. Aging isn't just about looking younger, it's about having mental and physical health to enjoy it. You are doing great! xx
I’ve been on MHRT for 4 years. I chose the pellet route. I also am on Testosterone. Are you on any weight resistance training? I lift heavy 5x a week, reformer Pilates 3x a week and walk 4 miles 6x a week. It generally takes me 58 minutes to complete the 4 miles. I think it’s important to list some options you didn’t. Protein I take is crucial for peri and menopausal women. Bone health is most important and you have to strengthen the muscle that is attached to your bones. I train for my older future sell. The last thing I want is a fall 20 years from now that changes my quality of life. Recent studies have shown sprinting for 30 second intervals can really impact your bone health as well. Jump squats can be very beneficial as well . Anything g that causes force to your skeletal structure. You only sprint for as long as you can. I just thought I would add this additional information. Would love to see your skin care and chemical peel process. New subscriber here!❤
That is awesome I tried the pellet when I first began and it worked fine- then covid hit and I couldnt go, so I have changed my method and so far so good. I am glad the pellet works for you! I do weight training 5 x a week- I should have mentioned it but it was in my first video so I didnt want to repeat. Thanks for the extra tips.
There needs to be more discussion about perimenopause and HRT! I, like many, assumed that a woman had to be in menopause to be on HRT. Had I know you can start during perimenopause, I could have avoided years of sleep issues, brain fog, fatigue, etc... When I went to my regular gyno, she said it's part of aging and completely dismissed me. When the hot flashes began at age 56, that is when I took action and went to another doctor who put me on an Estradiol patch of .025 and 100mg oral progesterone. The hot flashes stopped within days! The sleep issues were ongoing however, so eventually she put me on .0375 which helped. After researching and learning about the long term disease prevention qualities of HRT (from many of the doctors that you have listed), I set up an appointment with MIDI Heath online. I was still not sleeping great, so they upped the dosage to .05 and the progesterone to 200mg. The .05 is the dose that seems to be the therapeutic target for prevention. I'm sleeping so much better now! And yep--skin seems better too. Now if I could just lose these extra 10 pounds that I gained along the way... One important note: taking a DIM supplement (compounds in cruciferous veggies) helps metabolize the estrogen in your system. This helped me tremendously with breast tenderness. Thanks for sharing your story, Lisa!
Great video Lisa! I’m just getting started with HRT& am very encouraged to see what differences it will make. Would love to see your skin care changes. Thanks for sharing & have a great weekend😘
I would love a video on the chemical peel. I have done microneedling and laser but never a peel. As long as people do not have a family history of cancer, hypertension, or a blood clotting disorder they are generally fine with HRT. The best technique is the one you are using with the lowest dose possible that works.
I went to teh gynkast spring and had very mild peri symptoms so I told her everything was great. Well...those symptoms amped up like crazy soon after. Like you, it is anxiety, disrupted sleep patterns, low libido, brain fog. I have an appt with my GP next month but I think she will tell me wait until my next gyn appt in spring or to try to get in sooner. I want to talk about getting on HRT so I can get back to myself.
Thank you for updating us on your health journey. I'm excited to hear updates and appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences. Would love to know your skincare routine.
Hi Lisa. I wanted to thank you for speaking about your experience with HRT. I had a tough time finding information about ‘menopause’ several years ago, so I started doing my own research. It wasn’t until just a few years ago when I started seeing more influencers speak to it. I did find the following resources reallllly useful: @drmaryclaire (Dr Mary Claire Haver is a board certified OBGYN who specialized in menopause), @drericberg (Dr Berg is a trained Chiropractor who gives great insight and info on natural remedies), @bobbyparrish (Bobby’s channel introduced me to how to read ingredients on food labels which got me into healthier ingredients in my food), @angiehotandflashy (bless her for really diving deep into skincare and makeup for the mature skin), and @shereeneidriss (a board certified dermatologist who demystifies and simplifies skincare ingredients for regular people so we don’t overburden ourselves with hour-long skincare routines. I guess now I can say “it takes a village to go through menopause and keep your sanity”. My one advice is keep talking to your Drs, friends, family and spouses/significant others. Menopause has been taboo to discuss for way too long and the only way we can debunk some of the preconceived notions is to discuss it freely, openly and without judgement. I hope your community appreciates your transparency as you navigate this. ❤
Of course, we want to see the change on your skincare routine and chemical peel process. I've had a number of dermatology grade peels. I get the most compliments on my skin after a hydro-facial 😊
I don't own a lot of shoes but there is just something about booties/boots in the fall and I am always on the lookout for a cute pair. I just love me a good bootie/boot. Enjoyed seeing your collection. 🙂
Great video & yes, inspiring to me to get back on a routine & give myself more grace. I have an appointment next week to finally see what’s going on with my harmones & hoping to get back to feeling more like my old self. Thanks for sharing Lisa.
Your list got me thinking about what my list would be, if I tried to make a 10 essentials list. I'm going to think about that today, see what I come up with.
