First heard this in 1970. I was visiting one of my older brothers. He was, at that time, living in Dover, Kent. He was such a Shadows fan and I was listening to their 'Biggest Hits' album. Love the Shadows' music and this little gem always takes me back to those days in Dover.
Tina performed this song on an old outdoor stage with the Queensland youth orchestra, in Emerald CQ ,it was absolutely breathtaking. Such richness of vocals and beautiful strings in particular 0
Tommy Roe had a long string of monster hits starting with "Sheila". A lot of them had a females name in the title (Sheila, Sweet Pea, Dottie, Hazel, Heather, etc.)
Written and recorded in Sydney, Australia on his stay here in 1968-69. Neil was touring here because he could not get airplay in his own country. He played to sell out concerts and decided to stay here for quite a while. I have a copy of the LP this track is from. He also recorded one track in the stairway of Festival records because he loved the sound effect it gave out. A big artist in Australis and still played on the radio today.
Remember my lovely Mam singing and dancing in the house to this ,I thought my parents would be here forever ,such carefree ,innocent and happy days ,why do we have to grow up and grow old ,my Mam was only 50 when she died ❤
For those who don’t know Wheeling is a historical city and was a western outpost during the American Revolution. The last battle of the Revolution was fought there and was written about in Zane Grey’s first novel “Betty Zane”. Betty was his great great aunt and a Wheeling heroine. Wheeling is derived from a Delaware Indian word for “place of the skull” that marked the mouth of Wheeling Creek when settlers arrived on the scene!
