We want to share our passion for efficient, sustainable homesteading that brings the family together. On our homestead we do chemical-free gardening, grass-fed milk and beef, pastured eggs and broiler chickens, and free range children :) We love to go on adventures as a family, so if we're not workin on the farm, we're probably hiking or out getting ice cream. We're all into DIY, and being inventive and creative. We believe in homesteading that's sustainable, not just sustainable homesteading. In other words, we want to show you that homesteading doesn't have to wear you out to the point that you give it up. We've seen it happen, and almost came to that point ourselves. So go ahead and take a whack at that subscribe button if you'd like to join us on this crazy ride. Get ready to learn and be inspired!

Unfortunately i was not able to get my beehives built before swarm season, of which we are in the middle of now. So bees will have to wait till next year i guess..
This channel is amazing! This is what it's all about! We just took ownership of my family's 4th generation farmhouse in KY and have 3 years left of the military life before we move back home to start our homestead journey. I have been watching a lot of videos and doing plenty of research. There are some good resources out there but your channel has been an absolutely blessing to find!
Garlic purchased in the spring should be put in a fridge for a few weeks to give the cloves the dormant period they need. Maybe, previously, the seller did that for you. In nature, the garlic will grow and split into individual cloves in the ground in the fall and enter dormancy over the winter. If the garlic came from a warmer climate, it may be missing the winter period it needs to spark growth. If I noticed cloves that weren't rotten and looked healthy but maybe looked like they were in a "paused mode", I would put a handful in a bowl in the fridge for two weeks and replant them. Unfortunately, the garlic is probably too late to get a good harvest this year. I recommend buying garlic for the garden in September-November online or at a local nursery. For us, we have less to do in the garden at that time so it's kind of nice to get outside, start planning next year, and just shove the cloves in the ground early November. They pop through the snow beginning around march. MN zone 4b
I’m dead. I was watching you open the pails in the basement and was thinking that looks like a field day for a mouse and 2 seconds later you addressed my concern. 🤯
So when you water the seedlings you place water in a pan as shown or you remove the seran wrap and water from the top? Awesome video, definitely going this route next time!
I work for Publix and know all the dairy products that we sell including Organic. To my surprise when I read the ingredients all butter incl organic contain water, natural flavors and creams incl organic contain carrageenan and other things that have no business in creams and butter. Over pasteurization takes out all the good tastes. Most dairy products especially butter is already half rancid by When purchasing.
I have very fond memories of milk and the distinctive taste of it. We bought milk from the farmer and mom would boiled it for no more than 15 minutes. Best tasting milk in the world. The cream was so good. Not anymore.

Hello and blessing to you and your family. Just want to tell you, I truly get inspired to grow a larger garden every time I see what and how you two work the garden. Also Love love love that you include your kiddos!!! Cody, Nice job on the patio area. Looks fantastic!!! Brownie points after carrot incident ha ha 😉🥰
Love my cattle panels. We have been using trellis with cattle panels for so many different plants. Keeps the plants up off the ground and easy to see the fruits. We are in the lower SW of Michigan and have similar growing patterns to you all. The rain, cold, and tornado weather this year.....whew.
I'm so jealous of you being barefoot!! We have ticks so bad this year that we have to spray just to go out in the yard. Wondercide has been my best friend! Love your channel!
Lovely channel….. For your husbands heart burn, acid reflux or indigestion because of eating tomatoes……please look up the benefits of apple cider vinegar for increasing acidity in stomach …a few brilliant doctors on RU-vid who discuss this…good luck
Awesome that y'all have turned towards growing your own. The only thing that give me red flags is the use of plastics for storage. With the recent scientific studies posted about the insane amounts of Micro and Nano plastics that are being found in our bodies is a serious concern. The only thing I could suggest is avoid buying/storing stuff in plastic containers & bags as per they're massive culprits into the digeston of Micro and Nano plastics that are increasing health issues for eveyone (Even canned foods, milk jugs/cartons & many bagged goods contain a plastic liner in them). Also avoid Plastic Cutting boards, and if your buildings are using PVC, you might want to transition to copper pipes due to the high levels of PVC being found in our bodies that are lnked to strokes/blood clotting and other negative health issues associated with plastic ingeston. Otherwise Glass, Stainless Steel, Silicone, Non Plastic Lined Ceramic and Wood based Storage products are the only safe bet to buy/store and ingest foods from.
if u are willing to give up the red potato, i grew white Kennebec, which stores well for me. but i do live in very dry climate, usually only 15% humidity most of the year
I sure enjoyed your video. I know it takes a lot to put up a video my husband says it does anyway but I could watch you guys everyday. I’m all caught up with all your videos now 🤪🥰 have a great evening, lisa
18:52 I've noticed seed packets contain less seeds. I don't know why I was surprised but it makes me glad I collect seed from the heartiest of my garden each year. Heirloom all the way here.
Love your channel! I just found it a couple days ago. I completely agree - you cannot take parts from the whole and expect everything to work. Excited to see your garden grow!
I know you guys suggest only taking on a couple new things at a time but....i dont have the patience for that so it really made me chuckle when you said you were adding dry beans and popcorn so dent corn would maybe be a next year thing meanwhile this is my first time growing corn at all and im doing 5 different varieties 😂 im trying 3 kinds of sweet corn at my moms house (since they are all sweet i dont care too much if they cross) and glass gem and popcorn at my house. I have so many new things im trying to grow this year. Its my first time growing peas and i tried 3 different varieties of those as well. 😂 so far everything is doing well considering how much i have growing. I have a bunch of squash and melons that didnt sprout i dug the seeds up and some kind of larvae ate them up as soon as they cracked open to send out a root so i will be restarting those asap but thats been my only issue so far.
I have a suggestion. You might not like it, actually you'll probably not like it at all, but, here goes..... Why don't you, take a month and come to my house? Teach me what you can, (that in itself will be the biggest chore you will ever encounter) and then you can go back home. What say you?! 😷
Jesus Christ is the only Way!!! Go to Him and Him alone when you are feeling troubled/overwhelmed seek Jesus Christ while you can folks and keep enduring until the end do not seek these worldly options that think they can solve problems you are dealing with Go to God!
Love your bee hives. Where did you get them? The kind I have are just way to heavy for me now and I would love to get something like what you have. TIA
