Hey folks, I'm Shane and here are some videos about my Life that i wanted to share. You will see I enjoy a variety of things but not everything makes it to youtube. Hope you enjoy the Sports, Entertainment, and Cars.
Good video and music, what can you tell me about the bicycle? How is your experience, maintenance, handling and any problems with the brand that has given you, greetings
His Ripmo AF has been running great with no issues. With a different Wheelset he was doing XC races and doing well. The DVO shock requires a psi check before each ride but other than that the bike has been solid. For my carbon Ripmo, it has held up very well and has hit everything I want to hit with no issues. The older X2 shock had to get replaced under warranty as it was a known issue from Fox. It was turned around within 3 weeks. The Bike Yoke dropper isn’t working as well but I’m waiting for a window to take it in for warranty work. The rear Ibis S35 carbon wheel broke at the bike park and is covered under warranty, less shipping and handling. The wheel rebuild is your cost but they send you a rim. Other than that, the frame has been good and customer service has been good. Would I buy it again, yes. It just does it all well. Climbs well and descends well.
No leaking tank but the bottom rubber adapter that feeds the pump sometimes gets stuck at the pump side when I lift the canister. Other than that its been good. Its normally in the car.
That was exciting to watch shane dude in the orange(johnny) was cooking as well ... the last 2 mins i was on the edge of my seat ...that hop over the log to beat johnny was amazing
I'm going to give it a try. I think the tings were more the tire just on the roots than an actual hit. These are carbon wheels so I was more reluctant to run low pressures. LOL. I'll try the 19/21 setup at Wakefield as it maybe a bit dusty tomorrow. Its funny you saw 21.5psi. What made you settle on a .5 setting?
@@ShaneXCS I'm normally a roadie so in a huge mtb tire like a 2.35 you can actually feel that half psi difference. I was nervous to go all the way to 19 so I just said fug it let's go 19.5. I'm using a topeak digital Guage not just a track pump so those half psi are actually discernable.
LOL Yea you have to get ahead really quick. Burn that candle to get to the top pack and then get into your race pace. The race is long so there is a lot of space to pace after the halfway mark.
@@BadTanLines Congrats! Glad I could help. All the front runners are fast. I don't have the sustain for the long pedal sections but I'll keep up in the tech/twisties. lol
Awesome, this is the real stuff and I like your build. I build up a cutom Stumpjumper carbon Comp over the last Year. Running ground Control grid t7 front anf Fast Trak t5 back on Elitewheels pro 36, and love it. Cheers from Switzerland
The GC/FT combo is solid. On the Stumpy, I know it has to move really quick. I ran this combo on the Ripmo and its so different vs the more aggressing trail tires.
Thanks for the upload. I was the guy you were chasing for the last couple of laps. Nice job closing down the gaps on the single track, looks like I need to do some work on those sections! Hope you don't mind a little video tip. If you upload to youtube in 4K, you get a better codec from youtube which ends up with fewer motion artifacts (it ends up looking more like what you see on your own computer before upload). You don't even have to record it in 4K, you can just upconvert when editing the video (although recording in 4K works too).
Great work out there Joseph. No way was I keeping up with you in the gravel areas as I was just spent. It was wild the gap you put on me and somehow I was close at the end. I need to get stronger and keep in a hire gear on the gravel. Thanks for the video tips. Doing this render our requires 2 outputs so it just gets worse. I’ll do what you mentioned for the next recording.
For how well it descends and soaks up bigger drops, I was pretty impressed with the climbing efficiency of the ripmo I rented. It felt like a smaller and lighter bike than it was. I still prefer my lighter 140/130 Stumpjumper for the local trails though. I would like to have something in-between that and my heavy 170mm park bike.
For sure on the lighter Stumpy for most trails. The big bike is rather overkill but damn if the Ripmo doesn’t pedal so damn good. Throw some XC tires on it and you will be shocked how well it moves. I even did a 20%/15% sag for front/rear and pedaling was even more crazy. Even did XC races with it that way and was shocking people.
LOL, I feel the same way when I switch between my XC and Trail, enduro, DH bikes....it's like I've got 4 different girlfriends with 4 different sets of curves, and I love them all! Oh yeah and let's not forget about my "Mature BBW"...My '98 Downhill bike, a chunky gal weighing in at 46lbs!!!! I still ride her!!! Great video, new subscriber!
Hey man! Really great video! A quick question, have you ever replaced the hub bearings on these? I've been looking it up like crazy but cant seem to find much info on it..
Great bike for that money, for sure! Had an alloy Epic years ago and seriously considering an EVO. Seems like a great blend of XC and Trail. Nice trails - looks like fun.
Sadly the great deal is over but the new Epic 8 is really this bike but better. If you get the Epic 8 Evo, get a 120mm fork, and sell the stock 130mm fork, you will have a great XC/trail bike. Doing the above would have been the plan but that $2400 price was too good. I’ll swap later if I care to. The 120 down country bikes are so good now for 90% of the regular person trails.
@@ShaneXCS Glad I saw this and followed up on the deal - found a 2023 from another shop through the S site and they are shipping the bike to me for the $2399 price plus shipping! Can't wait! Thanks for posting - you got me a much better bike than I would have been able to get for the money!
@@ShaneXCS Loving it! It's versatile, and shines as a fast trail bike. Fast in the woods and on gravel roads on the way to the trails - really efficient. Thanks again for highlighting the deal!
Nice, trails are fun.. I just ordered a T8 but I’ve ridden a Marin hardtail for a while sitting on that is rough lol.. I have riden a t8 those saddles are rough
Strong enough, yes. Enough water to do it, no. I can clean maybe 2 bikes at most with this. The pressure is good but you would have to pulse fire to not use up all the water.
Full MSRP on the site was $2399 but have since gone up to the $4k. Shop around once you know what you want and call shops. Some will want them gone with the new ones out.
I was wondering how you like the xynotal as a front tire?I am having a hard time deciding between the xynotal and kryptotal for a front tire. Thanks for the review!
I like it but i think if you want more bite up front then go with the Kryptotal up front. I balance it out with lower pressure in the front vs the rear. Running 21psi and 24psi so far. playing around with it to see what I like. If I didn't have the burly Argatol/Krytotal Re on another set, I would go Kryp FR and Xy out rear. This is similar to the famous DHF/DHRII combo, IMO.
great bikes. like the look of the newer model. i think the epic 8 evo frame is heavier than its predecessor. flowmountainbike weighted the new epic 8 evo frame (2100g incl. shock and almost 1800g sworks model). The weight of the older sworks epic evo model is around 1680g if i remember correctly
Hi, could you tell me please how tall are you (asking about Epic Evo rider). I know you got size Medium frame, I am 5'10 and in-between M and L frame. Many thanks
I am 5-10 too, got a large 7 and if I was getting an 8 I would do medium. I’m on 40mm stem and the bike is stable! The medium 7 seemed to low in the front. You can likely go either way.
Yes. It does feel a smidge long, so I opted to make the bike shorter, 35-40mm stem, seat rails forward also makes the seat angle more steep and 165 cranks really help. In medium I had to run 60 stem, 30mm of spacers, rails back. I am in rough desert area and need the stability. If I was in the woods, I might have went medium
I’m 6’3” and went with the XL for the longer wheelbase and stability. I did have to go with a 50mm stem as the 60mm felt weird on my back and the 45mm didn’t have enough weight on the front for grip. The 50 was a great compromise and I just move my body position as needed. Definitely go to the store and check the fitment if you can. The #’s are different as this is shorter numbers than my Ripmo BUT the stock ride was more stretched due to the stem and slack seat angle.
