I agree that fixing the heros is the way to go and that trying things blindly isn’t going to work but comparing the game to a nursery rhyme doesn’t prove anything, and every other point didn’t feel like “deducing” but just simple expressions of opinion.

the deducing was that the devs have tested 7v7 already and said it will be hard to feel like you have impact. servers will be even more stressed then 6v6 servers , extra damage players will create unbalanced teams and unbalanced role dynamics.. these are not opinions. these are deductions.

So I definitely am a bit of a sweaty player, but I feel like only the Sombra, Doom and first Rein were making sweaty plays imo. When I play tank Winton, I feel a responsibility to focus the widow because often my team can't or won't deal with them. I also don't think chasing down a low HP target is a sweaty play, especially given that they were leading at the time. I feel like thats just good follow through. The Doom definitely was chasing you across the map tho, that was a sweaty play if I've ever seen one. He was super low HP for most of that fight but he still was so determined to get you specifically, even when there were other targets that should've been the priority lol Solo ulting somone is almost never a good play unless there is a specific reason, like confirming a kill in OT or to prevent stalling, or focusing say a lucio to prevent beat, for example. Those solo ults from the enemy players were definitely all sweaty plays. Its hard to say if the second Rein just panic-ulted, but in any case, he was trading ult for ult (even if it didn't work), so I feel like that wasnt so much sweaty as just a silly overcommitment. Again, maybe I'm just biased because I am a bit of a sweaty player myself, but those are my thoughts. SOLO ULT COUNT: 6 (Doom, Sombra, Ashe, Rein, Genji, Rein)

I do really enjoy the map visually, and personally it's my preferred map of the two we have RN. Hanaoka feels far too linear for my taste. Tho tbh i still don't think clash is a very enjoyable mode. Even tho most rounds end up having a close score, it feels forced due to the mode design, rather than organic because of good matchmaking. It shouldn't be possible for a team to be attacking on the enemy's side of the map the whole round, and still end with a score of 5-4 or Hog forbid lose 4-5. The whole mode feels as tho ot lacks the strategy and depth of other core modes, and often just feels like a team DM. Sombra and Ashe btw :)

Honestly I think at the very least they should have stuck to their guns with the phone number verification system. That way they can actually punish people who broke the rules whether that be cheats or ximming, instead of allowing them to just create another account willy-nilly. It's 1750 wins BTW

It has been a while since I commented here. I agree on the timestamp titles, This does feel like gatekeeping in a way. As somone who has over 3,500 hundred hours+ and the unrelenting hero title I meet the requirments in both hours and games played. I am currently working on the expert competetor title. As for cheeting I feel like its getting pretty bad, I don't think putting a limit on who can use streamer mode will change that cheaters will exist. This will just gatekeep who can use streamer mode like some sort of vip class only instead of paying for access a person would have to play an obserd amount of hours or games to access it. Excellent video keep it up.

​@@dravenbluesummers I would not say it's misdirection, It's more of a move that has a short term salution. It is much easier for devs to up the requirements for new players who wish to use a feature that is said to be used to enforce their anonymity as opposed to what it was meant for in avoiding toxic players who throw games against players they feel they don't like. It takes more resources and time and money to eather make a new system or build uppon their current system or hire more manpower to look over reports. TLDR This move puts a bandaid on a bigger problem. It won't decrease the problem. Free to play games allow players to create new accounts and continue cheating. Also because players were using the streamer mode to cheat, There were many players who were using it to avoid toxic stuff who ended up being accused of cheats. Kinda sucks for everyone really. 💔🐑

I think the talk of 7v7 and 6v6 is trying to solve a psychology problem with balance. The only reason 5v5 feels bad to some people is everyone pressures the one tank and there isn't blame to go around when that one tank performs poorly. It's not that the tanks necessarily feel too strong from a gameplay perspective which would be a balancing issue...it's a social issue. I do feel like 7v7 would not be the solution. The only reason that exists is because of the queue time argument that 6v6 brings up. Personally, I feel like 5v5 FEELS better to play than 6v6 did. I feel like there's more space and the time to kill and level of sustain for all roles has gone up. Balence-wise, it FEELS good and it did solve the queue problems that 6v6 had...we just have to solve the social problem of that role being put onto one person instead of split between two.

I don't like that this is only at the end of the season. The end of the season coincides with when midterms are for most people in post-secondary, these people are also more likely to spend money on the game as well. So it doesn't really make sense with the timing. I like your idea that it should be every weekend.

I dislike that they are tying even more rewards to comp. In my honest opinion, I think having any kind of reward attached to comp undermines the integrity of the mode itself. They should have an unranked mode with "comp rules", let weapon variants/signatures be earnable in unranked, and let comp be for EXCLUSIVELY for people who want to win matches and increase rank and NOTHING ELSE.

Unironically the most harmful suggestion I’ve ever heard given to the devs. In a lot of ways, 7v7 will just devolve into what we have now. Giga buffed tanks and supports to compensate for the additional dps. Flats is losing the plot quickly

If dps players cared about queue times they would play other roles today. I’m not convinced enough dps players would use the autofill feature to make a difference. Instead it would just be a 4 minute queue to get placed on tank.

Its because nobody has a clear answer of how to make DPS players play other roles. So we don't have to go back to this 15-25m DPS queue times that even the middling ranks were starting to experience. I think to have anything but 5v5 work in regards to player population ratios, a massive rework of the roles and game will have to happen. Elsewise they'll have to add autofill like every other role based game forcing DPS players to play tank when one is needed.

It IS a solution the way 5v5 WAS a solution but ultimately requires near infinitely more work to balance in a way that people are happy with compared to just making some people unhappy by having to play a role they don't want to sometime. If all the development time of 5v5 was spent to reworking tank or DPS to fix the role imbalance instead, we might be at a healthier state of the game in 6v6 already.

@@dravenbluesummers It worked in solving the queue time issue. Ultimately, that's why 5v5 exists. Not for balance or gameplay issues. If people actually played tank during the entirety of OW1 like they claimed they want to do now, 5v5 would've never been seriously introduced as a bandaid to horrifically bad DPS queue times in OW1. The fact that at the end of OW1 gold DPS were experiencing today's master's queue times was an absolute nightmare. If the devs bring back 6v6 but a large portion of DPS players don't swap to becoming full-time tank mains, 6v6 will ultimately die again and instead of this discussing we are going to have swarths of DPS players calling the game unplayable waiting in queues like we used to- which is what I'm most concerned about- which is why I want strict and aggressive autofill measures until some sort massive role overhaul can happen.

eh, I think 7v7 wouldn't be nearly as bad as 5v5 where one role gets to have all the CC, Health and everyone has to suffer their wrath Back in the early days of OW1 being out, before role que it was common to have quickplay matches that were 1 tank 4 DPS and 1 healer. These matches would a blast as it made flanking less risky and damage felt impactful since it wasn't instantly healed away. Additionally I would prefer less impact because it takes stress out of the game casually. I wanna play the game to relax, not have "Support diff" yelled me all game because I'm having an off day and costing us the game. Also I don't think 3 DPS would just delete everything in the game since in 7v7 each tank would have to protect 2.5 players instead of 4 so the ability to play around your team is made even easier.

i would love to see play of the game where two people are both featured in the highlight into (maybe each hero gets 2-3 dual highlight intros that are compatible with every other) and it will show both peoples names and their into next to eachother and only show one perspective. like if a zarya uses grav and then a reaper ults and gets 3 kills instead of it just being a reaper play, zar also gets the highlight recognition but it isnt her perspective

I actually hate how many people are entertaining the idea of 7v7. Now that’s 14 ppl in a match, but the big problem with all formats we have tried is balancing the power in each role. So why would we make one role have more players on it?? I think 2-2-2 role lock is the simplest way to balance the power between each role.

I personally agree that they should explore options to fix the queue time Problems in 6v6 first. But i think it's still fine to explore other ideas like 7v7, the devs shouldn't invest resources into it atm (and it didn't sound like they are considering it). But i don't see a problem with the community exploring this idea. I think going from 6v6 to 7v7 would be a smaller change than going from 6v6 to 5v5. Tanks always had more impact and DPS almost always had the least impact on the game. Therefor i think that adding one more DPS would make less of an difference than taking away one Tank. 7v7 would feel more simular to 6v6 than 5v5 does. But i'm still not sold on the 7v7 idea, i think it would be to crowded and chaotic, especially for supports. And there is still a big difference in the amount of Tank and Support players, so even if it fixes the DPS side of the queue time problem, support would just become the new bottleneck. It would be better, but it wouldn't completly fix the issue. And of course, the more players there are the less impact each individual player has on the game. I think it would be worthwhile to test things like a flex role first. My idea for 6v6 would be to try out to replace the DPS role with a flex role and make the game 1 tank / 3 flex / 2 support. Tanks and supports are locked to their role, Flex can pick from tank and dps. That would be something inbetween of role and open queue, it would open up some more team compositions, but you would still have the consistancy of knowing that you're always going to have at least 1 tank and 2 supports in ranked. You could also release some Tanks that feel more like DPS characters to encourage DPS players to flex to tank. Zarya historically would be an example for this, but i think mauga, if he gets changed to fit 6v6, could also appeal to DPS players. You are going to run into triple DPS comps in that system, but back in 6v6 those comps still felt fine to play. Usually games became frustrating with 4+ dps (in my subjective experience at least). But i think ultimatly experimenting is a very important part, it's the same with science. Talking about things theoretically is important and very fun, but you need to run experiments to validify your ideas. Every idea has the potential to surprise you and we should always be careful about dismissing untested ideas to fast. If you start running experiments you will almost always start to find variables and aspects that you couldn't have possibly thought about before. I could see a timeline in which we try 7v7 and it feels great to play. I don't think it's likely but i wouldn't rule out the possibility that i get proven wrong in that regard.

0:09 This isnt a "potential" it's a guaranteed issue. we know what 6v6 would look like. Exactly like ow1 with 25+ min DPS queues. They showed us the numbers rn. most roles have a similar and crucially short queue time adding a second tank will very obviously half queue times for tanks as there is now a second slot for them to fill. But double times for support and DPS. We saw for years in ow1 these queue time issues and i genuinely dont get how people think this wont be an issue if they bring 6v6 back. Now if ur argument was that the longer queue times are worth it cause 6v6 will be better for the game that is an argument that while i disagree with i think is an actual argument u can have.

I think we need to look less at format on the surface and get more into the skill expression the formats with the inclusion of more players and how the devs could make it enjoyable. Also differences in role queue times

Nah 5v5 6v6 7v7 why hasn’t anyone seen the clear answer. 5.5v5.5. Now you might be thinking “How would that work? How is there half a player?” The answer is quite simple actually. You make a role that just has a single Zarya bubble as their abilities. But oh how is that fun? You make them lucio on crack. Just insanely fast maybe even something like lucios April fools boop that moves them. Wall riding the whole thing. You also make them small and very little health. They can only melee and their ult is that they drag the other .5 into a boxing ring and then you box. The winner comes back to life while the loser immediately gets sent back to spawn. No 10 second wait just instantly back to spawn.

Optimal gameplay is actually 3 vs 3 where everyone has huge skill expression, and every role can be equally powerful in its own aspect. Edit: also lets the devs achieve their goal of making counter-swapping meta, while also fixing lower queue time issues.

I made a 3v3 game mode with some friends and it causes a ton of problems. tldr: Its too little people. First off the map size is built for 5-6 players on a team making space creation either extremley easy or impossible no in between. Second, Tanks need nerfs across the board in a 1-1-1 format since their ability to sustain is outclassed when you have only one Dps usually forcing the tanks to lock eyes and the dps to shoot the tank and the supports to punk the tank full of healing making a mid gameplay loop for the average player. Third, Charcaters with lifesteal are insanley overpowered since there is so little pressure for target priority other than shooting the tank. Fourth, it gets boring WAYYY FAST when a meta becomes defined since the team pool is so small in comparison.

@@dravenbluesummers no matter what game size you advocate for, understanding that changes have to be made regardless is important. If the maps are too big they can be shrunk, but this was actually a bait post to show that you are a little misunderstood on the problem. The problem with 3 vs 3 is the same as 6 vs 6 as the ratio of tanks to other players is 1:1 which makes matchmaking 20 minutes in the damage category because theres not enough tanks. This is why the game cant be 6 vs 6, it cant be 3 vs 3, it cant be 7 vs 7. Now an argument could be made for 1 tank 2 dps 1 support, 4 vs 4 but this would make high heal output supports forced meta, so they would have to crank individual support power. TL: DR arguing for anything other than 5 vs 5 and not talking about the queue times proves you don’t understand the issue.

@thelord8894 ide be ok with 5v5 and 7v7 existing as side modes and 6v6, being the main mode . It's just that we need to solidify something first then branch out
