I found old modchip in my ps2 5000x model. I'm searching everywhere in the internet but didn't found any clue about it. I can share the photo with you if we're able to be in contact.
Literally what is the point in this? If your going to completely remove the ability to boot discs, why not use an emulator? And $100 to break your console?
I have one of these in my PS2 and now it sort of brakes soft mods. I think I'll put a switch on it so I can physically disable it rather than opening the DVD drive.
hi i saw one of these duo chips for sale somewhere is it worth picking up? dont know much about the older chips but would there be any noticable downsides over a matrix/modbo? i think getting one of these rarer chips would be cool
Until something better comes along? The PS1 has been around for almost 30 years and nothing "better" has come along yet. Don't be a hater because you don't know how to use a soldering gun. 😄
Really can't wait for an open source equivalent to get more advanced especially after the potential for a PSIO reverse engineering went out the window when the creator of the PSIO started doxxing them and spamming insults and legal threats to their email and getting an army of autistic Russians to join him. Imagine spending $100+ on a $2 aliexpress chip and SD reader on a board and a few ribbon cables. Couldn't be me.
