I have to say that as a non sailor the journey did invoke a certain mal de mer but that may have been the speedy panoramic shots. say i had some text file named : _12345_(test123).txt and _54321_(test321).txt, can this software rename multiple files in the same manor so they would be named 12345 , 54321, so essentially removing the _,_,(test123).txt / _,_(test321).txt and only keeping the 2nd thru 6th character in the file name?

You seem to have skipped over how the .svc file came about. Visual Studio allows for the creation of these files from within the IDE.
