Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. So what I'm trying to say is that it's all about perspective.
Suggestion to attract young people into the hobby: 1. Have all “Societies” promote and display (at various times) ALL of Graham Beck’s “Exploring Stamps” RU-vid videos… 2. Intersperse Graham Beck’s #Philately RU-vid videos (50) in a comfortable setting continuously at “Stamp Shows”. 3. Graham Beck’s energy, philatelic research, and enthusiastic quality RU-vid videos are worth preserving and sharing with ALL new and current collectors. 4. Graham Beck has displayed his passion for all aspects of philately and is contagious. 5. Simply no better ‘booster shot’ for the hobby than Graham Beck’s RU-vid videos!
Your video was great! I am an "amateur philatelist" since 1972, age 8. I started collecting stamps after I had 2 strokes at the age of 4 and a half in 1969. I started collecting stamps with my mother at the age of 8 and still doing it. Question: Are you going to do a video on Giovanni De Sperati? How would you define him? A stamp forgerer or an artist? Or both? Thanks again for that video, David
Reverting back to gravure issues sounds like part of the solution. More expensive to produce but a fraction of the loss from fraud. And probably better looking stamps.
I’m surprised that there has been little to no publicity about this. I would have thought that mass mailings to consumers or counter-ads on Facebook or even posters in the post offices saying “we don’t sell discounted postage” would get the word out.
Hello, It is great to see young lads enjoying the same hobby. I have been thinking that I am the only young generation left. Warm regards from Indonesia..
Nice talk. Would have been better if we could hear the comments and questions. Should have kept comments to the end and provided a mic for questioners and commenters
Thanks so much for the valuable info, Wayne! I will look at my stamps more carefully when I receive newer ones as delivered postage on mail that I receive. I have also posted on my own social media page about this new "pandemic" by trying to inform as many people possible. Great work indeed!
