I use K&N Oil filters they’re a dollar more have the same fleeting as the old Harley Davidson oil filters and have a nut on the top of it that makes it easier for my arthritic grid and hands to remove the oil filter.
Having worked around and in the oil industry I knew there was sometimes a big difference between oil filters and air cleaners but I never would’ve picked the later oem Harley oil filter for being what appears to be garbage when compared to an aftermarket one: I’ve been told although K&N make great air filters the oem BMW S1000RR one’s flow better (I raced S1KRR’s) and K&N oil filters are prone to disintegrate if left too long, the main reason they’re popular with racers are the hex on the outer end so you can drill the hex to lock wire them… racers tend to change oil and filters after every day of racing so they don’t experience the bad side. Interesting, I’m definitely going to cut up some oil filters and see… I don’t think we have Fram in Australia.
Harley filters are only good for 6 months or 5000 miles because after 6 months the paper cartridge start to deteriorate. FACT!!! I personally run amsoil filters. I ve found that it works best for me. Any filter that has to much filtering only reduces oil flow and pressure.
Bravo all the way through brother. This video showed up and I’ve wondered about this subject. I have never had a bad Fram product to my knowledge and I’ve used them on my Harley’s over the years. I enjoy your approach to this and your way of getting your point across is well received. Maybe Harley and the factories overseas that send their stuff over to North America should maybe take some lessons on QC. They need to wake up and note that us riders are getting to a point of frustration with the lack of GAS they have (Give A SH&T). Early twin cams having catastrophic engine failures due to Harley’s cheap chain tensioner issues. Compensator sprockets that were trash. M8’s dusting motors due to oil pump failures. Who’s test riding this stuff? Who’s reporting to HQ? Why can’t they just hire some actual bikers. Put them on this stuff and go out and thrash them like a rented mule to find the weak spots. Then FIX IT. It’s called customer service. Rant over I guess lol. I could go on. This was a great video and a great way to finish the night. Ride safe.
I am not sure what the Harley version of a "Mic Drop" is but you just did it. Thanks for sharing. Love the message you are sharing both in the main video and the ending.
Those ridiculous comments at the beginning show how little people really know about the passes they buy. Great video, great message at the end, especially in a world of toxic internet trolls and loud-mouthed Karens.
Never been a HD fan .I like coolant, but put on 200k+ on My metric cruisers. My last bike was A c109 Suzuki, used Amsoil 10w/40 and always Kn because of their sturdiness and the take off nut.
I'm 72 years old and since my first Mach 1 (351 Cleveland) 1972 vintage I've ALWAYS used Fram filters NEVER had a problem until i used a wix just once ,thank you very much for a FANTASTIC video can't ride anymore after my stroke 😢 but your the best
The ending is better than the beginning about we are all brothers and sisters, bleed red and be kind to each other! You knocked it out of the park bro 🙏🏻 peace & love and I love my 2 HD
Harley just came out with yet another new filter, the second in I think three years. With that the price increased from $17 to $25. I am curios what the quality of this "New and Improved" filter (62700296A) is. Just installed it on my bike or Id return it and go by the Fram at Wally World.
Thanks for making this video, Jay! When I hear people say Fram filters are junk I can refer them to this video. I've been using Fram filters since the 1960s and have never had a problem with their products. Their pricing is competitive as well. I don't know who started that B.S. urban legend but hopefully this video will help put it to rest. Thanks also for advising people to do what Jesus Christ has been telling us to do for the last 2000 years, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." That's the only way our earth can exist as Heaven exists.
Very informative, very touching. .you seem to be a humble soul. Your message at the end was comforting and deep. We can all learn something from this. Thank you brother!
Bruther that was awsome vid thanx Just today followed the 3 oil change on my 04 heritige softtail and although little different my 57 pan shovel as well And be kind
Fram makes good filters in Europe. But in USA it's all advertising and brand recognition. Why they don't use the same factories and quality for most USA filters I don't know. I think the cartridge filters for newer vehicles are fine. But some of the metal filters are not good.
I've used Fram oil filters for over 40 yrs my Ford f 350 had over 450,000 miles on it rebuild it last engine was clean my heritage. 1340 ran and still running Fram so you idiots talking shit about Fram don't know your ass from a hole in the ground
I'm grateful for the information you took the time to demonstrate here. I had no idea. I will stop buying Harley filters now. Thanks. Liked and subscribed.
How about doing a third video? Comparing Amzoil and Napa Gold filters also. Many of us use Amzoil for our engines and drive. Would be good to know if the amzoil filter is as good as they promote it to be
man, i wish these were not the last 2 videos you posted. Thought i had found a great channel to follow! That being said, thanks for the content that you have uploaded over the years - if they are half as good as the last 2, then i will still get heaps out of them.
a clear demonstration, with no judgement. this is a perfect comparison/review video. Thanks Jay. I do like to practise doing something nice for strangers on the regular, but there is always scope to do more. cheers from Australia - have a like, sub, share and comment.
You sir, are a saint. I change my own oil and with 3 Harleys on the road and all ridden a lot (over 260,000 Miles) I am switching to the Fram and going to save $6 per oil change and feel better about it. Watching the video of those old guys riding their motorcycles really hits home. I'm 76 and just hit 100 mph yesterday riding back from NH with a friend. You can't do this stuff in a nursing home. I'd really like to shake your hand. Thanks for the informative videos.
