@@ryguyplaysgames bro! Right! Seeing that you wrote and directed this project produced. We need these type of talents in the community! Bravo my friend Bravo!
This was hilarious. ...nitpic: technically probably the 3rd parody. There's The Heroscape on Tales's channel and 12 days of Scapemas on Sir H's channel.
Sounds like Renagade knew that to make a commercially viable product they would need to ditch the previous work resulting in a failed funding campaign and make a product with broad appeal. This happens over and over where an existing community has great ideas and strong views but can’t let go of the past and want an old school product that won’t sell well in LGS. Strange that the existing community couldn’t figure this out.
This game is nothing but a quick money grab off people’s nostalgia. They will probably just finish off what haslabs was originally going to make and then cancel it again. The mins should be industry standard for what they charge, not barely board game level quality.
Really, really enjoyed this, and hope you can get other competitive luminaries on future episodes to pick their brains. Been listening to Casters of Valhalla for some time and seeing another high-level competitive HS podcast show up in the feed is a real treat. My work schedule precludes me from traveling to the August Scapecons, so listening to you guys here was the next best thing. I especially liked your discussions on OM placement and avoiding unwinnable endgame matchups, like that brutal-sounding Heracles v Marro Warriors. Hope to see more of these soon. PS: While I'm sure you weren't happy about it, hearing a Z'Thoth army win like that made my night. ;)
@@ryguyplaysgames Would be honored (and very out of my league)! The deeper I get into the competitive landscape, the more I feel I have no business talking strategy. But happy to throw in my two cents.
I am honored Chris brings me as an example of someone "outplaying" him in a game. 🥲 Then after this interview he proceeded to 3-0 me counting Gencon and Scapecon (only luck wins of course).
This is an insightful listen. I appreciate how you both explain competitive formats and with examples given of certain in-game situations. AoA releases will be interesting to see implemented in future competitive scene. Thanks guys.
Great commentary, even better performance. Congrats. So, the matches are viewable on 10 point Under’s channel? I don’t see the videos nor any live streams. Great job, Ry.
People dared those of us who wanted painted minis to put our money where our mouth is...mission accomplished. I ordered all of Wave 1, except the terrain pack, because I don't need it. I pre-ordered the painted minis of Wave 2. Looking forward to the Story Arcs. If getting ripped off by Renegade with Heroscape is wrong, I don't wanna feel right.
Not sure what the complaint is with the painted figure that was shown in the pic. It seemed really well done with a mix of bright colors. I bought the unpainted and will just play with them unpainted since they are just as functional, but thought the figure in that pic looked like a pretty cool paint job.
Helpful video for the most part, but I don't care for the inference that Renegade is somehow a bad company. AFAIK they have not acted in such a way that would mark them as a socially unacceptable company the likes of Wizards of the Coast, Paizo Publishing, or Frog God Games. Their prices are largely based on their market analysis and production costs. I really don't find them to be out of line with other miniature game sellers. IMO, it is disingenuous to suggest they are somehow "bad" simply because of their prices. IME, Renegade, both their retail arm and customer service department, is an excellent company to deal with.
What is a battle box? I don't know any of these terms for this game. I am interested in getting in on the new sets but have no idea what is going on, help please.
Sure! A battle box has just 6 figures an a handful of terrain-basically enough to get started. It’s a cheaper entry point than a master set, which has a bunch of figures and terrain, while still containing everything you need to play the game.
