Monsters & Memories is an indie MMORPG which leans heavily into (and expands on) the game design and aesthetics of classic era MMOs, RPGs, and Table Top Gaming, while leveraging modern tools, the Unity game engine, and plenty of hindsight.
The sand giant scout reminds me of the frost giant in DAoC. I like the 2x scale of it in the massive zone. I'm looking forward to seeing this game progress!
I hope this game is challenging like the original EQ.. With groups, raids and rare loot. That was my favorite part as a kid, real rewards and real consequences
I'd love to be a play tester on this project!!! Was in the EQ beta, and haven't found anything since that fits me. This appears to be a spiritual successor, and I am very excited for its success.
I just hope for the love of god that the animations are done right and it doesn't end up looking all stiff like the EQ2 Griffin. I'll never understand why they can animate many other things fine, but for some reason went "that'll do" for the Griffin that looks SO BAD! Like the EQ2 character models in general really, they've had 20 years to redo them and they still haven't, despite them being so ugly most people are put off playing seeing them.
In alot of studios they have specific animators for creatures like dragons & and griffins, and that's all they do because it's incredibly difficult. But u believe in them!
So much I love about this game, my one complaint is the lack of user friendlyness - give me a NON-INTERACTIVE map (NOT GPS) and a compass. Would any real adventurer really go on a journey without those two things? At least have the map for sale.
Please tell me there is or will be a hide graphic for those backpacks :) One for helmets would be awesome as well. Love the game . Looks like the game us old heads have been waiting for since the days of old school EQ . You guys are doing such an awesome job. Your passion is showing through in spades ! Can't wait to play it.
The skeletons from EQ were one of the biggest inspirations on my love for the spooky. Just something about how you had glowing eyes, a manic laugh, and oh the red ones... That looked like they were fresh peeled from their muscles. Glad to see that tradition continues.
Cant wait for the game! I have tried to play past few tests but my PC is just to old to really enjoy it. So im building a PC just so I can enjoy playing tests on M&M waiting for it to come out!
Sorry I played all weekend and specific item vendors who are not closely placed together is not fun - period. Why make something difficult that doesn't not need to be? Also, no spellbook CR is dumb as hell! Just to make an already hard game harder? Unfun! The city is huge, make end game cities huge and put specific item vendors there, not Noob areas. Bad game decisions. Second book in bank to solve CR? if you want to make the game harder for no reason, just make it so only one book has your spells - the one on your corpse! Seems you guys are making decisions with no real purpose? Bunch of guys brainstorming making bad game decisions/mechanics it seems - sigh
There is literally thousands of hours of footage of them explaining their decision making processes. I'm sorry you struggled during the play test but it seems like the majority of players were able to solve these problems on their own and enjoyed exploring the city, finding and memorizing where things were. If you can't find your corpse, you can always ask for help from other players in game. Retracing your footsteps is a good start. There is a notebook built into the game if you need to write down things to help remember them. It's seems as though you might benefit from an adjustment in expectations. The game isn't finished yet and their stated goal is for the game to be a social MMO that relies on communicating with others for help. Its designed to be difficult partly to incentivize you to interact with others but also because a challenge will always be more rewarding once you achieve your goals.
Hey! Sounds like either you're not our target audience or we're just making a bad game. Either way, thanks for taking the time to comment. Every little bit helps the YT algorithm. Hope you find a different game to enjoy!
@@MonstersMemories I never said i hated the game, but spending 25% of my game time running around such a huge city to vendors, with no run speed, instead of outside the gates exploring/killing is something that should be reconsidered. Bags fill up every 10-15 minutes and here I was over and over and over taking 10+ minutes running back to all the different vendors in town to sell. Sure I learned eventually where each vendor was but I never felt like it was a novel idea or even interesting. Just felt pointless. Just my feedback, or would prefer only praise? Yes, there is a lot of great stuff you guys got going but that is not one of them.
Wow guys your progress is real 👏 Can't even imagine what this game going to be like in 2 years. If this continues this way and all goes smooth You might have big hit in your hands.I know more and more people will be joining you people to share that delicious pie.Keep it up.
It would be cool if there was friendly adventurer NPC's that would randomly appear in dungeons or open world almost like a mini game or quest dialogue that would allow you to get some form of resources. (coin or items) with low or no repetition of item/coin amount, or kill a special kind of monster. Or random merchants that are being escorted by a group of mercenaries. Sort of Fallout-esque
I think it's funny how transparently this game is trying to sell nostalgia. Not only does it have a D&D inspired name and logo but it even has "memories" in the title.
