I guess they're saying it's a displacement hull, not shame in that. Beautiful yacht.

I think Grand Banks has evolved, the market requires bigger and better boats. The Heritage examples were created by a team of skilled workers and still hold their own as it were, it’s worth noting that Grand Banks chose to use fibreglass without any issues and the built quality was not effected. Technology has come along and so that features in part of the process too. I think the company are very aware that they have a great reputation and need to treat it with care. Mark Richard’s has injected a new lease of life into the company and it seems to be working well. I think the company has shown itself to be more than just a name, the attention to design and functionality is important. I don’t think Grand Banks just put any stuff on a boat for the sake of it, there’s usually a reason or purpose. You can buy bigger if you wish but I think they are on the money as it were. I’m a bit curious about the Eastbay 60, it’s not had the push or attention it deserves. They are a gem to ride on or to see a Grand Banks is probably design at its best.

I need a GB 60 with big master cabin (full beam of boat) and them new trim tabs and sea keeper that keep things level..and a drop down canopy on top that lets one do the great loop. in fact if you keep the top shell, and put it on 4 posts that lowers & seal the fly bridge (when not in use)..with 1 up/down button...that would work great.
@bikersoncall
@bikersoncall 2 месяца назад
I guess a lot of people like the openness, I'd prefer a full enclosed flybridge on any yacht, the idea of being 100% comfortable under all conditions up there is quite appealing to me.

Please make a 65/70 with more space in the galley and saloon. 85 is beautiful, but something in between that and the 60 would be ideal for couple owner-operators to have a large family or friends on board.

I just wonder, if the 'heritage' series was so revered by cruising yachtsman, why was it dropped from production? Did new owners just require more speed? Taking that into account, Grand Banks are still a beautiful motor cruiser,

I have a hull design which is real easy on power, fast, smooth in rough seas, and non-pounding. I designed it 50 years ago, fished it commercially 1977-1992, when my license was removed with many others. It had a 403lds 270HP marine and gave a clocked 30 mph. There is a lot to know about hulls seldom talked about. Your test facility would be very useful if a team could be assembled to work together? My 5.86' model was towed smoothly and very stable at 12MPH based on my 36' so that gives a speed of +70MPH. I'm old now, so if anyone believes what I write, I am interested. I am from a boat building family 103 cape islanders built, a commercial fisherman, and a Graduate Professional Engineer, with lots of experiences over +0 years in major industries. My hull goes 20 using about 115 hp, so a real environment friendly boat, loved by fishermen. It turns on a dime. I'm tryng to get SOLIDWORKS up and running? as of today. No hull should run with trim tabs nor stabilizers. They are only good to cover up bad design. By the way, your test facility seemed to have a solid level hull attachment which seemed to allow two axis movement but I could not see the up and down motion on the center piece arm, needed in waves? Just wondering. I can be done if desired.

A remarkable design, it’s certainly got folk’s attention and for good reason. I think it has plenty of potential and will be very popular. Grand Banks don’t rush things and do stuff properly or not at all. The new era of moving from a Heritage to a different perspective is not a bad one but a smart move. Once again Grand Banks lead and their magic brings us a new dimension.

interesting.. i wonder if a boat hull could be designed to funnel wake into a tunnel that directs it into the front of the propellers.. reducing wake and increasing pressure coming into the propellers giving them more bite in slightly higher pressure water.. or would the suction effect of the propellers pull the wake water directed in faster reducing buoyancy.
@king0dasouf

Beautiful boat and phenomenal speed for a distance cruiser. Question, please: I saw the review on boattest.com and Capt Steve gave a maximum range of about 1200+ NM at 10 knots which is about half of what your specs are. Can you advise on the difference? Also, any plans for a 70+ footer version of this? Thanks
@GrandBanksYachts
@GrandBanksYachts 4 года назад
The particular yacht in the BoatTest review has several customisations and additional equipment that make it vary from the official numbers that a GB60 can achieve. As it left our yard, that boat had a range of around 830nm @ 20 knots, or fuel burn of 37 US gal/h, which is very good. Additional weight, and drag from any custom options will have different effects on performance on any vessel. We have a Grand Banks 85 currently in production.
@chbr5623

@@GrandBanksYachts Will the GB85 have a hull that performs similarly to the GB60? Meaning the high speed + ocean crossing range (assuming over 2500 nm)?
