A peek behind the scenes in the development process of the brand new hull design by Grand Banks for the GB60. A semi-displacement hull designed like a racing yacht, with a minimal drag coefficient, incredible stability, and advance manufacturing processes utilising woven carbon fibre and vinylester resins that are both strong & light-weight, and also impervious to blistering.

Wow! What caught my I was a Grand Banks doing 36 knots! for real? Eye opener, and I was looking at Catamarans.

gee, congratulations after all these years for going from fishing trawler hulls to coast guard cutter hulls. In fact this reminds me of a cross between the Damen STAN hulls and the venerable Vosper Thornycroft design. You may say you are running through it, but it is still a semi disp / semi-planing hull push a triangle through the water with a flat transom [regardless of deadrise]

Mulder does something like this too! It takes lots of horsepower and fuel to keep a boat on top of the water. Cutting through it makes so much more sense.

It takes a lot of power to get a planning hull *up* on the water; once it's there, it takes much less power to keep it there. (If sea conditions will allow it, of course.)
