I also have the lighthouse to make for my son to put in his guest room with the quilt I just made him. He lives on the coast at Astoria Oregon. I'm a new stitcher and I have the summer quaker on my wish list but am still a little intimidated by it. I'm from Portland Oregon😁
Before you start your Summer Quaker you may want to check the designer's web site for the corrections (seaweed border ). You may want to swap the E and R in SUMMER. I will be stitching along with you on mine. Do you have a source for the black perforated paper ? Enjoyed your video !!
Where do you find bead to top pins and what are they called? Example would be a Christmas tree on top.. i have seen buttons but no hole through the center. Thank you for the demonstration!
@@barbaralooney8558 not sure what you would call that but anything that you could make a hole in the bottom of would work. I have some little plastic ducks…I would heat up a pin and melt it into the bottom. I know some folks use Fima to make their own beads or one ended beads but I haven’t tried it. I use the the pins that have a ball at the end but any tight fitting bead would make a great topper. Hope that helps. There are lots of other videos that are more specific and detailed than my short demo. Plenty of videos to research ❤️
@@Sarahthenorthwoodsstitcher please do cause I do like watching. It does not have to be just cross stitch. I think most of us do other crafts. I sew and paint
The counting pins are so pretty and expensive. I have never tried to make one but now I think I can thanks to your instructions. Also really enjoyed the water color video, so interesting, thanks for sharing your many talents.
Thanks for the tutorial! In reading the comments someone shared that she had costume jewelry necklaces that had chunky beads that could be used, well, of course, I do too! I was thinking I didn’t want to buy a bunch of beads, now I won’t have to! I just need some boutonnière pins. Maybe if I look I can find some of those as well. Thanks!
Another great video!! ❤ awwwwwwwwwwe ❤️ 🐾🐾 Abby is so cute!! I have chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce drizzled on it after dinner every night religiously, then I go back to stitchin while watchin your videos! I lovvve the cards that you made for your Dad!! ❤
Thanks Sarah, that looks like fun, I bet my grandaughter would love to do this with me, when she comes home on break from college. We enjoy doing crafts together we did lots on summer break.
I have some necklaces from the 60s and 70s that have clunky beads. Don't wear them any more and I would enjoy looking at them in my sewing area. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks Sarah, you have inspired me to get making some decorative pins. I appreciate your input on the long pins. The shorter pins don’t look as nice because there isn’t enough room to put some fancy beads or groupings of beads. 🪡🪡
I've made stiilettos on turkey lacers for sewing before. Same process. Because they don't have "caps" for the sharp ends, I used wine corks. Thanks for the tutorial. Nice to see how other beads will work.
Years ago, I saw in a magazine how to make a stiletto (for guiding fabric while using a sewing machine). A straight turkey "needle" (for keeping stuffing in a turkey) was used and adding beads glued on the top. I've always meant to make one but never did. You've reminded to make one as well as counting pins. Thanks.
I have made these things in the past but it is always a good idea to watch somebody else make the same things cause you can always learn another new and easier trick, which I just did of you hanging them upside down to dry.
I used the pellets also in conjunction with some stuffing. You were lucky got those 3 “ recalled” books ! I made that very same X-Mss tree in ceramics class back in 1974. Gave it to my daughter years ago. The 2 Easter eggs are adorable!☺️ I got out all my Value Village $2.00 frames 2 months ago and my many finished cross stitch pieces. I was enthusiastic about making some fully finished objects, but was rushing to finish my niece’s wedding sampler for Aug 24, and have now lost interest. I must get back to this job! 🤔 I love watching your videos! Have a great week ahead! Cheers! 🧑🏻🦰🇨🇦👋
@@marilynmckenzie2111 I LOVE those ceramic trees! I must have close to 20 now.❤️So glad to hear the pellets were a good find😌Hope to make more of those eggs sometime. I feel so happy to have them and give them a good home! Glad you like the videos 🤗
Hi Sarah! Awesome finds! I have used the poly pellets for all my pillows so far and no issues! I iron interfacing onto the back of my stitching as well.. happy stitching! Lisa
This was such a fun video! Dang, I’m lucky I don’t live near you because I’d spent so much money, but I’d get great bargains and wonderful ideas too. Love seeing your pets snuggling. ❤
I had the same experience at Joann's, but the wouldn't sell it to me. The manager told the cashier, "tear off the cover and throw in trash" 😢 I wanted it for the cat patterns. I was so sad. I'm glad you ladies saved them . Thanks for sharing all your stitchy goodness. 😊
It's just a guess but the recall of the Margaret Sherry magazine might be because there are charting errors on some of the charts. So watch your stitching when you work out of that magazine. I just finished a piece using etoile floss. The etoile colors match regular DMC so I used one strand of regular DMC with one strand of etoile. My finish isn't as sparkly but the stitching was a bit easier.
That’s a great idea for stitching with Etoile! I searched for info on the recall but no luck. I just joined a fb group to see if someone may have more info ❤
I can not wait for you to sew with your Juki. Pillows are good for a start. I love the fabric you got. I love watching you. I watch you at the end of the day and it is very relaxing watch. Just love you dear. Kathy the dog lover
Hi Sarah, I really enjoy your content. I started the Great White Christmas pattern but I chose Navy from Weeks Dye Works. It looks just like 3750 from DMC! When you talk about going to the dump, can you elaborate on what exactly that means? I am just curious lol. I don't think it is the kind of dump that matches with what a traditional definition is! (: Thank you for all that you share with us, what great finds you get! I love the poly pellets and have used them in pillows for years.
That last frame may be gaudy now, but! I immediately saw a classic stitched rose pattern in it. I do not decorate in a Victorian style, but, I love a classic flower pattern in a collection. Or, one of mammagloves you new birds! Great finds as usual. Thanks for sharing.
