I've been thinking of getting one of the competition series 1250.. but the modification you made on the lid would be more difficult on the 1250 since it slides open... I wonder if the 1250 door seals better? Or would it be best to get an 1150 so the door could be sealed?
On the heat deflector for me when i do burgers i let it run and the reasoning is all that burger far essentially coats the defleector pan and i usually try to wipe it off.. where the top deflector covers the main grate what i have found is it gets rusted because said grease and wiping to clean doesnt coat/season it.
That downpipe attached to the exhaust stack is an interesting idea, on my Austin XL i usually see the smoke billow from the exhaust vent and the outlet for the drip pail. I like my pellet grill/smoker but I didn't exactly do my homework on them, i thought the pellets were purely acting as woodchips but i soon learned they are the fuel source etc and i have found the smoke flavor to be lacking.. with a smoke tube and some added chips in concert i have gotten better results but apparently the pellets burn soo efficiently that you dont get that flavor from the wood not properly combusting.. Its a love/hate for me, i have a gas 5 burner grill, vertical propane smoker that uses wood chips and the pellet grill . I do find that I can use each of these tools to perform the tasks needed. From gas grill to pellet grill i do change the cooking methods ie burgers on gas are hot and fast which I have to be readily available, if im feeling lazy that day i can throw burgers on the pitboss in smoke mode and let em go for an hour vs timing them for like 4-5 mins and then flip and move to indirect heat etc. All 3 of my grill/smoker equipment are acceptable on my wooden patio deck as 2/3 are propane and the pellet smoker electric so its nice. If I had a charcoal grill/offset, ai definitely wouldn't be using it on my back patio. All in all I am disappointed that I didnt do my homework because i thought a pellet grill/smoker was gona produce the same flavor as an offset etc but now I look past what it cannot do and see the positive attributes that it does possess. End of the day I feel like I have 3 pieces of cooking equipment that can cater toy demands and my mistake was thinking the pellet grill was going to be a be a replacement for all of them.
Nice video bro. Very informative. Btw That heat deflector mod isn’t necessary anymore because there’s that black plate on the probe now. Before there was no plate there so it was def necessary but not anymore.
Curious how many amps the grill pulls. PB makes zero mention of the draw requirements of the grills they sell so it’s all a guessing game. I’m lucky enough to reach an outlet but sometimes in the heat I would love to move it over under an umbrella..
You mentioned that the controller on your buddy's 1100 tends to put more smoke out. Is that compared to the updated 1150 controller or the 1150 controller before the update? Thanks in advance!
Good vidéo , what was your burn off temps ? Also the round top part under the grill in the center there is slits do you cover does with aluminum , Just bought a 1150 pit boss pro serie . Witch you can open and close the slits. Thanks !
I haven’t even bought my 1150 yet and I called pit boss and ask about the controller and I’ve already created an account and sent me a controller before I even bought the smoker
@@cii5korea217 al I did was call 480-923-9630 and told them I was buying the 1150 and heard about controller issues and that I didn’t want to be without a controller and he created an account for me and shipped the flashed controller out. I received email verification of shipping shortly thereafter
Had to give mine up. Didnt work when i first got it and pitboss didnt have a fix at the time. Switched to the camp chef woodwind 36 and never looked back
Great video! In the beginning, I had wished we would have gotten the original 1000 but decided to get the 1150. It was ok in he beginning but once the controller was sent and updated, it has been working like a champ!

Your content was actually instructional! I've been trying to look for a RU-vid vid that informs everything in this RU-vid vid! 👏 The part at 1:07 is insightful. Your vid reminds me of the content of Doctor Ethan! Dr Ethan's demonstrations are totally knowledgable and he really helped me a lot on my midterms. You should watch his YT out and give the Doctor a like here! 👉 #DoctorEthanMedLife
