I skipped the YA phase when I was the appropriate age. Now that I'm an adult, I can still read YA, but I like sprinkling them between heavy, adult books. I even try Middle Grade books. I just tend to pick books with topics I'm sure to enjoy. I might grow out of it, but for now I'm enjoying the selection of YA books, which are way more diverse than when I was younger.
Y.A is definitely a good place to go if you’re wanting to read things with more diversity, I’d love to see it extend more into adult fiction. I think it’s great to read Y.A as an adult, and it can definitely still be a really good experience. I think my issue is more that I’ve just read so much of it already, haha. Im glad you’re enjoying it so much, hope you continue to have fun reading 😊
Love the pouches you made! I sort of did the same thing, clear case because stickers, and ordered a pouch! I wish I could make them myself lol they’re so cute!
Thank you so much! It definitely good way to get the protection while still having the sticker setup. Was more work than I think I anticipated, but I think it was worth the journey haha. I’m sure you could make one yourself. Go for it, you might surprise yourself
I Love My Kindle Paperwhite!! I Also love the way you decorated yours, I can also say that we have one thing in common… We Love Disney!! I also have some Disney Stickers!!
… hun, the warehouse has books pretty much for a capped $26. Not everything, but its sooo much better that Whitcoulls and Paper plus. Yes, i left you 3 comments. If i try and do a running commentary, youtube throws a hissy fit and deletes like alll my comment
I know the Warehouse has better pricing, but I rarely seem to be able to find anything I'm after there. This has such an extensive range, which I hugely appreciate, haha. And hey, the more comments the better, I know the algorithm loves it 😂
Thanks for the vid, that's such a smart way to decorate it - you could even make other backings to switch it out if you ever feel like a change, or to fit seasonal vibes!
I’m glad you liked it! I can’t take all the credit, I definitely saw other people doing it first haha. But yeah, it definitely makes in more adaptable. I could see myself getting into making a Christmas backing at some point for sure, haha
Shades of rust and ruin also pulls a bit from Inkheart. It’s totally fine to be pulling away from YA. I don’t like YA anymore. NA if even getting iffy with me.
Oh I didn’t even think of inkheart, but yeah I can see how they share some similarities. And yeah, it’s definitely okay to be changing reading tastes, nothings the same for ever haha. It just feels weird to admit it because YA was such a core part of me for so long 😅 What kind of books would you say you prefer reading now?
Aww a shame you didn't love Dani Brown! I enjoyed this one - you should defs give the third book Eve Brown a go (i love that one too) and i'm hosting the Plus Size Readathon in August which it would be perfect for 😜
What a fun idea for a readathon! I did a video a couple years back reading books with plus size protagonists, it’s definitely something I like to do being a bigger person myself haha
Good on you for getting rid of so many! It can be so hard to part with books 🥲I just did a massive unhaul myself where I said goodbye to over 30 books, I just posted it too 💖
Love the ruthlessness. It will be good. It’ll be interesting to see an update in like 6 months to see if you are still sticking to the e-reader as much.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video ☺️ I was in a very ruthless mood when I did this, here’s hoping I don’t regret it 😅 I’ll probably incorporate updates into my quarterly updates, but I might do a designated follow up video in a few months to see how things are going
@@shelfofwonder sooooo. I DNFd it… it was soo slow. Not enough happening for me. I did try though. That made me think that maybe cat books aren’t my vibe
@@ThisKiwi03 oh dear… 😂 You never know though, I’d say try another one just to be sure. I’m still interested in trying it out, but who knows when that’ll end up happening 😅
So glad you liked it! I have so many more planned, I just have to get the kitchen to myself long enough to film anything 😅 There may be plans in my future for a Roald Dahl episode...
They have a royal looking browning on the edges- gloriously looking cheese griddle cakes. King Arthur is wishing he could get there right now- I'm sorry for being a goofy American-- MAD RESPECT i wasnt making fun
I'm watching every minute . I think for those thick griddle cakes with cheese, that level of oil looks perfect, yes--nice and brown. so what's the best sauce to dip them in???
Thank you! I didn't get a chance to try them with any kind of sauce. They were devoured by the rest of my family before the end of the day 😂 You'll have to try them yourself and let me know
Those were some awesome tips. I loved the goal tip about increasing by 1 and going from there. I have one tip that has propelled me. If people have access to Audiobooks, then listening to those, or immersion reading with a physical book, can really speed up the reading. I find that audiobooks can relieve some of that brain space required. So you are still seeing the words and following along, but you don’t have to think the words (if that makes sense)
Oh, I can’t believe I forgot all about audiobooks! I don’t really utilise them that much so it completely skipped my mind 😅 Audiobooks are a great way to help focus on reading and let you do it while doing other things, which is so helpful for those with busy lives/shorter attention spans. Thank you for commenting about this, I’m sure it’s a tip many people will find helpful 😊
@@shelfofwonder i’m currently immersion reading Yellow Face and because of that, it is going by super fast. It’s handy that you can pick the right speed for your own pace as well with audiobooks. Personally I listen on 2x speed. Works wonders for me 😁
Yep, thats what i heard about Colleen Hoover is that she writes really toxic relationships… i don’t know ANYONE else who writes toxic relationships… #Cieran 😂😂😂
I'm not sure... The thing I was talking about was a minor aspect of a bigger plot point that I know is kind of common and that I actually like (which is a bit contradictory, I know). It was a very minor element of it to be quite honest, and probably not something many people would feel the need to address, it just made me feel icky 😅
Bunny and Rouge by Mona Awad are two of my favorite horror books, especially Bunny. Almost anything by Shirley Jackson is a sure bet. Blackwater: The Complete Saga by Michael McDowell is fascinating. Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield is really good. Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley blew me away! So much better than the dumb movies. Dracula by Bram Stoker will always have my heart. Enjoy!
I read Frankenstein when I was younger and really enjoyed it, if found it a little slow at points. I'm definitely interested in reading some more classic horror (Dracula, Phantom of the Opera) I'll have to check out the books you mentioned, thank you for the recommendations 😊
Really enjoyed this! I've also read a few horror novels where the climax felt very rushed and is then followed by an awkward come down before the end, maybe it just comes with the genre? I've been reading lots of fiction wilderness / survival books and find that to be a great genre at involving suspense.
Thank you! Glad you liked the video 😊 Hmm, hopefully not all horror does this, I’ll have to read a few more and see 😅 I’ve never read any wilderness/survival books! Do you have any recommendations? Might have to look into the genre a bit
“This book 👀“ lol - mexican Gothic is on my TBR for this year. Other horrors on my list are House of Leaves and Slewfoot. Both of these are apparently really out of the box and require a lot of brain cells, but I am so intrigued. Are there any other genres you want to taste test? I really enjoyed this one.
Ooh, exciting! I can’t wait to see what you think about it once you’ve read it. I’ve also heard a lot of good things about House of Leaves and yes, apparently it’s quite the mental excursion 😅 I’d maybe be interested in delving into thriller a little bit? I’m hesitant because a lot of things about the genre really just don’t interest me, but I’m starting to get a list of titles that I’d like to give a go. Are there any genres you’d be interested in testing out?
