Motorcycle Adventures with friends on my Triumph Speed Twin 1200, Royal Enfield Hunter 350, Royal Enfield Scram 411 and CCM Spitfire Scrambler.
Based in the UK Midlands l’ve ridden motorbikes since I was 17 years old. I love everything about them, the sound the smell, the feeling of exhilaration and sense of freedom you get when riding conditions are perfect and you’re in sync with the machine.
I enjoy photography and videography as a keen amateur, however i’m trying develop my skills in this area and attempt to capture our ride outs and annual motorbike touring holidays in the most entertaining ways I can.
I enjoy the experience the most when I am riding with friends, there is a special kind of camaraderie among friends who share the joy of owning and riding motorbikes.

Another great night out, love the picnic site, wish it was nearer to me,then maybe lanes explorer and myself would be there, great idea tho the ravioli in the flask, thanks guys catch you soon Ted NW biker dude alias bay Bimbler
Top job Dave, good to see a man happy in his work, especially as I'm sat with my feet up and a cuppa☕. Pleased to see you have a kneeling mat, got to look after them knees. Congratulations on your anniversary🥂
@@paulholmes1682 thanks Paul, 39 years aye 😳I do enjoy tinkering with my bikes. I’m starting to get the itch to crack on with my two restoration projects, it’s space and the demands of she who must be obeyed to do work on the house thats holding me back! 😂👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting and yep gotta keep the knees in working order 😀
@@MerciaMoto I'm surprised too, Dave though I can see that's quite a cost saving on a non critical part. You'll do an excellent review of the difference the extra tooth makes, I'm sure. Looking forward to that 👍
@@paulirving989 thanks for watching and leaving a comment Paul 👍🏻 There is a follow up test ride video to come where I try to show and explain the change in how the bike rides. Keep an eye out for it. Cheers 😀👍🏻
@@avimanyude5788 hello thanks for watching and asking a question. There is a follow up, test ride, video coming soon where I try to explain how the bike feels and rides following the sprocket change 😀👍🏻
What no cake? You can't have a cake stand or a ride out without cake, it's just not done 😂 home made sausage rolls though now we're talking 😊 That CCM of yours sure looks and sounds good, it's a shame it's a bit hard on your fillings 😲
@@michaellilley6725 hiya Mick, we’re trying to avoid obesity and type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately it’s a bit late for some of us on the obesity front 😂 The CCM certainly gives the whole body a ruddy good vibrating, it’s such fun though. If I were a lady I don’t think I’d use any other mode of transport! 😜🤪🤭
@@ashikislam8370 hello Ashik, that is very kind of you to say, thank you. I’m 59 years old, 58 at the time of making the video. Thank you very much for watching and your kind words 🙏🏼👍🏻
@@davidashworth1985 hello David, great to hear you found the video useful and thank you for leaving a comment 👍🏻the rev counter is a great addition isn’t it?
Hello Richard and Carol, thank you. We’re a tad constrained by time on the evening rides out, I would have liked to have had more of a wonder around, but at least I now have another excuse to return 😀 I first saw this particular CCM on the motorbike show a few years back then saw them at Motorcycle Live (probably 2019) 🤔 and I’d always wanted to own one. It won’t be out very often, 2 or 3 times a year probably, I spend a lot of time looking at it, they are a work of art. Thanks for watching a leaving a comment, greatly appreciated 😀😀
. Lovely place to set up those cake stands - except you Dave 🙄 Very impressed with Paul's attention to his epicurean requirements with a flask of hot ravioli. Tasty. And a ride too. Excellent 😋😀
Good morning Peter, he did seem to be very much enjoying his ravioli didn’t he, I’m sure it was organic too! 😂 We are out this evening, heading over to Malvern, so it will be interesting to see what delights he brings along this evening 🤔 See you over at Jenny Browns Point shortly 😀 👍🏻
@@MerciaMoto Ah the Mslverns. Beloved by Edward Elgar and Marion and myself. Love the way they rise up out of the landscape. His Cello concerto haunts those hills still. Have a great ride 👍

Great guys, always brings a smile to my face, still not sure you lot should be allowed out to play together, sorry about your old mate there passing away, one thing we all got in common, thanks again guys, Nw biker dude alias bay Bimbler 😂
Thanks Ted, it’s a joy to hear the videos make you smile 😀 like naughty school boys sometimes they are! 😂 second part of this ride will be appearing on Thursday morning, featuring the very loud and boisterous CCM, and some picnic banter! 😂👍🏻
Loving this Dave, beautiful bike. I'm on a coastal campsite come farm and the internet is faster than most hotels I have stayed in. Loving the welsh coast, Snowdon tomorrow. Hope to get some Good footage.
@@MerciaMoto Hi Dave. Apologies, it's mick Boswell. I took the wifes tablet with me and forgot to log in as myself. Had a great day today, will get some cottage up soon. All the best. Mick.
@@MerciaMoto It did and I'm taking up that idea of wearing my spare 15 t gearbox sprockets on a duplex chain as a riding medallion. But would it be OTT if I had it all nickel plated or would that be nicely understated 😂😂
Yes. Snowdonia just about edges it over how I remember Swansea Dave. It's pretty close though ! 😂 Great idea to leave Stan in Wales and it looks like the two of you are really enjoying your time there. Lovely video and audio quality as always Dave. This helmet seems to be working fine. I was out on Norman ON THE ROADS this morning and I must say that the 411 engine really has grown on me over time ! It feels a bit like I am limiting Norman by more or less only having him for the mountain trails. He's very happy and enjoyable on the roads, just like your Stan ! Thanks for sharing Dave, Garry & Ruby
Stan and me really are living our best lives over there Garry, thanks for the feedback on the sound quality, what might sound OK to me might sound awful to viewers, especially as I went deaf in my left ear yesterday, fortunately normal service has now resumed! 😬 You’re right the 411 engines at marvellous and Stan has loosened up beautifully now sitting around 3k miles. I would t worry about limiting Norman, I’m the same with Stan, he takes me on the more off the beaten track rides. Have a great weekend 👍🏻😀
Hi Dave, a fun video of the mod wars 😂. Always nice to hear you and Paul sharing banter. I think people who do all of these mods must have too much time on their hands !!! I barely get time to ride, let alone search, buy and fit mods. Probably worth doing though, if you can afford the time, and once you've decided that the bike's a keeper. Seems pointless to me, doing a ton of mods on a bike that you sell on in a year, but a lot of people seem to do it anyway 🤷♂ Have fun you two ! Thanks for the video. Garry & Ruby
Morning Garry and Ruby, to much time on our hands, who knew! 😂😂 we’ve pretty much decided that the Hunters are our forever bikes, they have such a charm about them and will serve us into old age, hopefully! 🤭 I have a 16T sprocket to fit over the weekend so that levels that up, and I’ve got a set of LED indicators ready to fit so that should relegate Paul back to second place, the bloomin upstart! 😂 Hope you and Ruby are both well. Take care, Dave 👍🏻😀
@@MerciaMoto Hi Dave. Yes, if a bike is likely to be a keeper, you should spend some time and money making it just how you need it to be. In my case, I have two keepers but zero time to even think about modding them. Besides, both the Himalayan and the Meteor are close to perfect in standard trim. I can see me fitting a rortier silencer to Norman, just to get a bit more sound, but other than that, I think both bikes are spot on as they are. Looking forward to seeing what Paul does next ! Integrated cocktail bar with onboard fridge, perhaps ? Cheers Dave, take care buddy. Garry & Ruby
Just catching up with you guys, so only watched the ride Tuesday and finished it off tonite called round to see my good friend Peter ( lanes explorer) this afternoon and was saying what a good act you guys are laughing from ear to ear, love it, thanks for the cake stand idea now hunting in charity shops all round the NW for a darned cake stand😂, thanks guys watch you soon NW biker dude alias Bay Bimbler
Good morning Ted, great to hear from you 😀 always nice to hear that the videos are making folks laugh, who would have thought cake stands could be part of motorbike culture! 😂😂😂 stay tuned there’s something special coming on the cake stand front 🤭👍🏻 have a great weekend, weather is looking positive 🤞🏻 cheers, Dave
This has been a ride of such contrasts Dave. The earlier part with spectacular views, the villages where perhaps the quarry workers and families live, the great mountains if slate debris, then down along beautiful country lanes and onto the faster more open road. And all in under half an hour! I noticed the Beeline working it's liitle socks off for you there (now I understand more about it, it makes more sense. We look forward to the next episode in the continung adventuring of Stan in Snowdonia. 🤗
Thanks Peter, it struck me when I was riding how the landscape was changing in such a short distance. This has made me want to explore more of the lesser known parts of Snowdonia which tend to be overlooked as folks focus on the more scenic landscapes. Have a great weekend, looks like we might be in for some 🌞👍🏻
Hello Dave, I agree about the importance of being in the countryside. I did just that today on my Hunter, but I must clean the bike tomorrow because it brought quite a bit of countryside home with it. Unmade roads tend to do that with gunge filed craters🤣
Morning Paul, countryside and motorbikes, a match made in heaven! I brought a large amount of Norfolk home the week before last 😬 the roads peppered with gunge filled craters are the best roads. That’s something I’d never imagine myself saying a few years ago 😂😂 Have a great weekend! 👍🏻
Great idea, Dave. leaving the Scram at your summer residence! For all these local ride outs😊. I've just covered 2000 miles on my Scram (Gupta) running so smooth, changed the fork oil to refresh it and it's far more comfortable......... it's averaging 95 mpg ! As a bonus.
Thanks Graham, you're getting those miles on to Gupta top man! Stan is at 3k miles now and I'm absolutely loving having it over in Wales which I'd done it a lot sooner. They are incredibly economical bikes aren't they?
Another tonic Dave, watching this has given me the impetus to go to Snowdonia next week as my Swiss trip was postponed. Lost my brother on Sunday so will be having some "alone" time to remember the good times. What better way than on the bike.
Hi Mick, sincere condolences for the loss of your brother, so sorry to hear this 😔 Some alone time to reflect sounds like a good idea and Snowdonia is the perfect place to achieve this. Here if you need anything mate…
This must be so difficult for you Mick. I too, like Dave hope you are able to find a still place within yourself for the good memories of times enjoyed together
5:15 A tricky one for a non-Welsh person, in fairness! It's "nant" followed be "lle", as if a separate word. Nant is easy enough, but Lle is hard to write down...it's that weird tongue thing you have to do, with all "Ll" bits in Welsh words! I can't explain here how the "Ll" is formed, but the "Lle" should rhyme with "Play", as a Yorkshire person would say it! Anyway, another great video...greetings from Llanelli! Have a go at that one, lol! 😁😁
Thank you, really appreciate the steer on pronunciation, I say thanks in an video coming in the near future 😀 I’m familiar with the Ll pronunciation as my Welsh late fathers middle name is Llewelyn, I find it really annoying when I hear it pronounced Lewelyn. Great to hear you’re enjoying the videos and please keep the pronunciation advise coming 😀👍🏻
I've known it as "Snowdon" and "Snowdonia" all my life, and I'm now 57...so I'm glad to see you refer to it by the original name! I'll never call "Eryri", just because of some sudden PC b*llocks! Changing the name of something doesn't change what is is, so why do it? Should the names of EVERY place in Wales be changed to the Welsh version? Ridiculous!
love it Dave.. So many memories of wonder what's up there. The sun is up there so, so we are. I got really good at 12 point turns on unadopted single track. many many Jurassic park type moments . Only meant for farmers on their quads feeding the livestock. haahha not able to say sorry mate me sat nav has thrown a wobbly.
Evening Dave, I know what you mean , the not wanting to trespass, conflicting with the urge to want to explore. I was kicking myself for not venturing up through the quarry, gonna have to go back! 👍🏻😂
Dave this is just magnificent . Your sense of fulfillment makes perfect sense to me. Getting away from towns and cities into the countryside or by the sea. Marvellous. I've only been able to watch a small part of this so far as I have to get sorted this morning but I'll enjoy the ride all the more this evening. Many many thanks. Peter
Hello Peter, yes riding my bikes really is my happy place, I find it helps me to achieve clarity of thought and clear my mind of the clutter than comes from living in an urban environment and spending time in the city. I was in Birmingham City centre yesterday and it is now such an alien environment, despite growing up nearby and spending a lot of time there as a youngster. Hope you enjoy the rest of the video and I shall be watching yours this evening, a marvellous way to relax and unwind 👍🏻😀
@@MerciaMoto Yes Dave I'll be here watching you as you watch me 😂. Had to take the bus into Lancaster this morning to collect new specs. It too is just alien and that's very small compared with Birmingham. See you here tonight around 8.30pm 👍
@@MerciaMotooh there's a funny story involving a sheep with my G Dad back in the Shropshire countryside. He had to walk back miles in the mist (think he was courting my G Ma who lives two villages away) and a sick sheep followed him making the odd nasty noise. He thought it was one of the ol tales come to get him. When the mist cleared he saw it much to his relief and took it to the nearest farmer.
😂😂😂How often have I had exactly that experience when cycling in Wales. Beautifully captured on film, Dave. How far would they have run unless that truck turned them back, I wonder. This was the perfect 'short' 🐑🐑🐑
Well that was a bit of fun wasn't it, I was chuckling to myself thinking there's nothing to see above the hedgerows, then I thought gosh who gets excited by a couple of big molehills 🤔🙄 Wow then did I get an awakener, stunning views from the top of the Mynd indeed, the cake stands made me chuckle then " do you fancy a pink one" nearly had me on the floor 😂
Thanks Mick, it’s all about having a bit of fun and hopefully sharing a few laughs with these picnic rides out 😀 Long Mynd has fantastic views, it’s probably the most scenic place we have relatively local. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment and great to hear we made you laugh 😀👍🏻
Riding into a west coast sunset on a quiet road through the hills, one of the great motorcycling experiences, if you'd been on time you'd have missed that! Thanks Dave 👍
Good morning Mick, it certainly is isn’t it? What is it that makes these experiences on a motorcycle so magical… well observed, you’re right running late ultimately became a positive in the end. Cheers 👍🏻😀
Hiya Mick, cheers great To hear your enjoying these ‘bit of fun’ videos 😀 you definitely need to get yourself over there mate, on a clear day the views are awesome, Action cameras don’t do the views justice. 😀👍🏻
@@MerciaMoto Will be there next week if the weather holds out Dave. Unfortunately I have had to cancel the Switzerland trip this year (family tragedy).
Thanks Peter, I think the views on the descent trump the views on the ascent. I was using predominantly engine braking on the way down and the popping from Pocket Rockets exhaust as I approached the cattle grid was just sublime 👌🏻👍🏻😀
@@MerciaMoto Yes that view running down was one of the very best. You'll not have equalled that in Norfolk 😂. Disappointed Paul wasn't on his Hunter for this one but I suppose he needs to run his new bike in (sorry I'm not up with all these new names for bikes). Still soon there'll be three out on Hunters plus Joe who sort of has one but not. At least he knows what he's missing 😂. Used to camp at little Stretton on a site. A Friday it was. Very hot and the chaps in the tent next to us had brought mars bars for the long Mynd walk next day. Rather melted I would have thought.
I think a folding or inflatable table and chairs should be the order of the day for next week, Dave and Friends. 😂. But one of you may need a trailer 😳
@@MerciaMoto Yes I was expecting a green and white gingham tablecloth and picnic blankets initially but the realised once you were all down there wouldn't be anyone to help you all up. You could wait a long time up there for the breakdown people to help you back onto your bikes. 😅
@@Lanes-Explorer5733 one of my favourite places to visit Peter and pretty much on our doorstep. I plan to ride over and descend on the Western side, the road over there is narrow and pretty steep. I’ve ridden it before but not recorded it so might make an interesting video. 🤔👍🏻
Bin years since bin up theyr. Thank you. Educate the world to Black Country baking, lardy cake, bread pudding, pineapple creams etc. 🤣🤣. I have to take samples back to Devon for expats after a visit home.
Evening David, thanks for reminding me about bread pudding, haven’t had any for ages so I’ve tasked the missus with finding me some, if that fails we’ll have to make some! 😀 Pineapple creams, my mom would buy us them from Firkins on Bearwood Road, another favourite she would buy from there were tiny pork pies, just the right amount for a little lad at the time. I shall employ best endeavours to include bread pudding on a forthcoming picnic! 😀Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 👍🏻😀
