Bikes, Vans, Snakes and Camping! This channel will be an outlet for me (Jim Bob). As a professional videographer and Specialized Bicycles Ambassador, I've always thought about starting a youtube documenting trips, rides and builds, so stay tuned and make sure to subscribe!
I don’t think a $2k van will be “good” but I did pay $2500 for my 2000 e350 with a quigley 4x4 conversion in Tahoe. Just gotta dig around its essy to find cheap vans. Just found one in Ventura for 2500obo on fb marketplace this morning.
Thank you so much for posting this. Been wanting a decked for years. Swapped my 2010 ranger for a 2001 access cab. I watched this video like ten times until I finally ordered one. Installed it last night. I love it and found this super helpful!
@@brakeforsnakes OK I guess so the speedometer will keep up with the tires? I wonder how they calculate what kind of gears they need for the big tires would’ve been nice if they explained it a little bit deeper.
@@thruthaseen.9892it’s pretty basic stuff for Offroad vehicles. Regearing is extremely common and if you don’t understand the concerto just watch a RU-vid video specifically about that. That’s not why I made this video
I know you said you’re running 35’s but whats your wheel size, width and offset? Super curious because it looks so sick. Thanks for the vid, badass build man.
Love your video. Chill. Does the Chisel have the same geometry specs of other entry level UCI XCO bikes, (hardtail) as say the Canyon Esteem CF or Spec. Epic? I want to buy an entry level UCI XCO type MTB. No eBikes for me.
Thanks for your time and willingness to record this very informative video. I own a 2003 Tundra access cab with a 76.25" bed. and I'm almost ready to order. Do you know the exact length of your Decked drawer system? I have searched everywhere for the XT4 but can't find that number
Lmao they made millions and millions of these vans there is zero shortage of them. Not to mention this one wasn’t reliable at all. The transmission went out just weeks after I got it costing $3500.
And just for reference “The Ford E-Series has been in production for over 60 years and has a fleet of more than 2.7 million vehicles. The E-Series van was the top-selling model in the United States from 1980 to 2014” so if you can’t find one that’s on you my man
Thank you. I just installed the XT4 on my 2003 Tundra. Your video helped me have to confidence to tackle the project. I just finished and it seems like its going to work great. I ended up removing all four the factory tie downs for it to fit, but the kit only comes with two replacements. I looked but did not find DECKED tie downs on their website. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of them?
I did the same thing with my 2012 Ford E-350, 12-passenger shuttle bus. Added the six inch Weldtech lift. I'm converting it into an RV but I wanted the clearance for the gray water tank and the frame mounted rear AC compressor/condenser. I added some Falken off road tires including the dually wheels. It looks really wicked. The bus manufacturer is Turtle Top so the shuttle lines are very curved and smooth. With custom welded off road bumpers and my custom spare mount on the rear bumper and a cool looking desert tan and black paint job and all chrome removed it just looks the part. It's now known as the apocalypse vehicle by the shop I took it to get my drive line balanced. Overall, it's a great lift kit. I did go with the Eaton 8000 lb rear springs in order to carry the weight of 75 gallons of fresh water, 400 lbs of lithium phospate batteries and another 150 lbs of fuel with the 55 gallon fuel tank I just got for it.
Nice van. Don't go on a soft beach though. My 2wd van with 6.0 diesel on 37s needed no lift. Just needed a bit of a trim job. It tracks true on the interstate also. I liked the no lift option. Just big tires.
That’s cool but not really comparable. I’m not just trying to fit big tires I want a suspension platform that works well and has an advantage. This kit more than doubles the wheel travel of your van which probably has even less than stock with the huge tires.
Agree with keeping things simple. i have the same van and haven't changed the interior other than adding a floor and a bed. I love the uncovered van walls because i use magnet mounts for everything. People always ask me if I'm going to build it out and I say "no, why would I?" I only sleep and drive in there. The rest of the time I'm outside enjoying nature.
You might consider doing the “chalk test” to dial in the air pressure you want for YOUR RIG, your weight, your particular load out which can change so much depending on the adventure you’re on and the gear/equipment and different amount of people you can load in these vans. Once you get the hang of how to do it, super easy to do one and set the air pressure you want at the beginning of these long road trips.
You could be me, bc I bought the Chisel Comp as well 2 wks ago, and love it probably just as much!😄 Only 2 minutes in, I already dig this vid, bc Jim Bob shows proper details thru the close-ups, very instructive! The frame is really beautiful, and very worthwhile of upgrading (or custom build like here).
Couple of things... They definitely mixed up your left/right stickers in the factory! 😂 Also, I'm gonna send it with my DC. I'm tracking the difference in bed length is 0.4" (AC inside bed length is 74.7 and the DC is 74.3 inches). Looks like it will fit damn near perfectly!
... aaannnddd SHE GOES! XT4 fits like a glove front to back in the DC. My only gripe is the space on the sides. It's pretty considerable (2.25"). I'm willing to bet the new gen F-250 model (XS3) would be a better fit width-wise (based on others using the legacy version of that model). I reckon I'll just stuff some foam on both sides. Not ideal, but it'll do.
@@Bandit.6139 did the XT4 fit in your first gen DC without any modification, or did you still have to cut out the corners a little like Jim Bob did in the video?
Nobodys asked yet, so hopefully it's not an annoying question. Whats your rim and tire set up? Also got a white access cab and i love how yours looks, itll definitely help me get an idea of what i want my setup to look be, thanks.
